Banner Estrella Medical Center is an American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognized 317 bed facility in Southwest Phoenix. The 73 bed Emergency Department (ED) provides care to pediatric and adult patients. With a focus on patient experience, we are committed to providing safe and compassionate care to our patients. The annual volume of the ED is nearly 100,000 visits and is also a Level 4 Trauma Center. Banner Estrella maintains NIHSS Stroke Gold Elite Plus, Chest Pain and Pediatric Preparedness accreditation's. The high-functioning multidisciplinary ED team works together cohesively to provide timely and high quality care to our patients.
As an Associate Director you will continue to develop your leadership skills by overseeing direct care staff. Day to day operations include understanding the financial oversight of departmental budgets, productivity and supplies. As the clinical leader you will have 24-hour accountability for your area of responsibility. The position reports to and is supported by the Director. This exciting and challenging position allows you to use your clinical expertise to ensure the provision of high quality, compassionate, safe and cost-effective patient care while growing and supporting a talented staff.

Banner Estrella Medical Center is a 353-bed acute care hospital providing a full range of health care services to the fast growing communities of west Phoenix. This position provides managerial and clinical support to patients and staff. Uses depth and breadth of clinical management knowledge to ensure the provision of high quality, safe, and cost effective patient care. Demonstrates clinical expertise and oversees the leadership of clinical, financial, and personnel management of the assigned areas.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Manages and facilitates patient centered nursing care for designated patient populations by serving as a real-time clinical expert for unit staff and physicians for escalated problem-solving on patients, processes, and family issues. Manages the operations of the unit to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management and resource utilization.
2. Leads change by developing, implementing and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives of the department in conjunction with the director. Seeks and utilizes input from staff and oversees change implementation. Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
3. Facilitates communication of system, regional, facility and department initiatives.
4. Manages and develops the operational and capital budgets and use of associated resources.
5. Assures the development of staff leadership through the design of effective shared leadership models and supports career advancement opportunities. Functions as a role model and encourages staff to participate in their own development.
6. Responsible for selection, orientation, on-boarding, and retention. Demonstrates leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development opportunities to create a culture of learning.
7. Manages large single unit or multiple clinical units to ensure excellent patient care. Actively develops leadership of entry level nurse manager(s) while leading clinical improvement initiatives. Internal customers include patients, staff, and physicians. External customers include patient family.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Â
BSN or MSN required for all new hires. BSN required for internal transfers/promotions within 6 months of transfer/promotion.
Requires a current RN license in state of practice. Requires BLS certification.
Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of clinical care management as normally demonstrated through two years of clinical management experience relevant to patient population. Demonstrates knowledge and skills of specialty area. Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes. Must have the ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements. In LTC setting: Requires familiarity with Alzheimer’s disease and developmental disabilities.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral or BUMG, BUMCT in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Position Title
Position Summary / Career Interest:
The PRN Sonography Student Technologist under the direction of a credentialed Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and Vascular Technologist utilizes high frequency sound waves (diagnostic ultrasound) along with color and spectral Doppler ultrasound to assist in the diagnosis of a variety of conditions and diseases. The PRN Sonography Student Technologist is responsible for producing dynamic and static visual images of internal structures, analyses of hemodynamics of vasculature and communicating findings to the interpreting radiologist under the direction of a credentialed Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and Vascular Technologist.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions- Must be readily available for shifts as needed outside of regularly scheduled program attendance requirements.
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations utilizing cognitive sonographic skills to identify, document, and adapt examinations as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images and able to use judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Aware of limitations and seeks immediate direction from supervising sonographer/vascular technologist and communicates findings to the interpreting radiologist.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients.
- Introduces self to patient, properly identifies patient utilizing two identifiers, explains the sonographic examination being performed and answers any patient questions.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of the patient while they are in the student technologist’s /sonographer’s care.
- Notifies appropriate personnel if assistance is needed.
- Selects and operates a wide variety of imaging equipment in an efficient and safe manner, coordinates examinations in the most efficient order and perform exams in a sequence which minimizes the patient’s stay in the hospital. Interacts with physicians and other technical staff to provide quality, safe and efficient care for the patient.
- Maintains cleanliness and supplies of hospital divisional area, fills gel bottles, empties laundry, completes High Level Disinfectant (HLD) checks and logs before each use as directed by HLD policy and stocks hospital division with linen.
- Assists supervisor as needed.
- Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments as provided by the supervisor.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.
3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
8. In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.
9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. This incumbent provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contributes to the overall patient plan of care. 6. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.
7. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in room turnover.

This position provides quality, comprehensive mental health services for patients from diverse backgrounds with serious mental illness and/or health-related difficulties. Fellows provide psychological services under the supervision of licensed psychologists in the state of Arizona. This position may assist in training staff and supervision of staff and psychology trainees. Additionally, this position will assist in conducting a program development project aimed at improving patient care, psychology management services, or medical center administration. This is a post-doctoral educational/training step that meets licensure requirements for independently practicing psychologists. This position will be time-limited for a duration of 12 months.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Under the supervision of licensed psychologists, provide quality direct clinical care to patients in outpatient clinic. Direct clinical care may include individual, family, and group therapy modalities as well as conducting cognitive and psychological evaluations. Fellows work with interdisciplinary team members for collaboration and consultation, treatment evaluation, and treatment planning.
2. Assist in supervision and training of staff, psychology interns, and psychology externs. Provide education and training in psychological theory, diagnostic techniques, treatment modalities, and related programs to psychologists, allied disciplines, and personnel in medical, educational, managerial, social, and community programs. In some assignments, fellows may have opportunity to supervise professional staff, psychology interns, and/or psychology externs.
3. Design, implement, and oversee one programmatic intervention aimed at improving patient care, psychology management services, or medical center administration. Fellows will work with one faculty member who will be responsibly for overseeing the appropriate design, implementation, completion, and evaluation of the project.
4. Present once at grand rounds for the Department of Psychiatry.
5. Participate in monthly group supervision meeting.
6. Participate in weekly and/or monthly interdisciplinary staff trainings and clinical review meetings.
7. Strive to advance clinical skills and knowledge as both a direct service provider, educator, and scientist-practitioner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires Ph.D. or Psy.D. from APA or CPA accredited programs.
Must have previous clinical and research experience, training or coursework in relevant field of research. Must possess knowledge of laboratory techniques, research methods and data collection. Performs comprehensive and problem focused histories and physical examinations, interprets laboratory and radiologic tests. Interprets and correlates subjective and objective patient data, formulating a diagnosis. Full-Time Interventional Radiology Technologist (Bronson Methodist Hospital)Under general supervision, performs the full range of duties required to assist the radiologists during special invasive and non-invasive radiographic scans and performs a diverse range of other diagnostic radiology work on a wide variety of patients.
Associates degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and up to one year of additional training and experience and meet department/section orientation and competency standards.
Registered ARRT. BMH Employees Only: VI registry required within 4 years of hire into special procedures department or from date of notice. BLS required within 6 months after hire. A 30-minute response time is required for rotational call purposes.
Must be able to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the Department. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clean, well lighted & temperature controlled environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Has the potential to be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous material. Observation of normal safety procedures minimizes exposure.

- Work may be performed in Radiology Department or other hospital areas as necessary to accommodate patient/physician needs.
- Operates all equipment properly and with care and regularly performs maintenance and quality control work. Immediately reports any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs.
