Responsible for scheduling, cancelling, rescheduling and registering of outpatient visits and procedures for multiple ambulatory clinics, by collecting all necessary information for schedule and registration preparation.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Checks in and Checks out patients in accordance with Scheduling/Registration guidelines, with the ability to prioritize according to the patient’s needs.
2. Obtain and verify patient guarantor information a minimum of once a year to ensure that the patient record is up-to-date. If a referral or authorization is needed we generate the referral at this time.
3. Schedules and registers patients/customers based on scheduling guidelines and medical appropriateness within the appropriate clinic.
4. Assures upon check out all follow up appointments & testing are coordinated with the patient.
5. Obtaining and collecting all necessary information from the patient/customer to schedule and register the patient for an appointment.
6. Identifies and communicates need for scheduling modifications and development.
7. Notifying appropriate personnel of any scheduling change due to patient cancellation in a timely fashion.
8. Receives and responds to patient and staff needs and complaints appropriately within the realm of the “patient care” environment, involving department supervisors and patient representatives as needed.
9. Consults with referring physician’s office to ensure written and/or electronic orders exist and obtain them as needed. Verifies upon receiving for completeness of the written orders and notes. Make documentation that outside orders are requested.
10. Responsible for collecting all time of service payments and copayments for patients in the check-in or check-out process.
11. Upon end of day, responsible for reconciling cash drawer and all contents. Responsible for reporting any discrepancies within the cash drawer to the Supervisor or Manager.
12. Responsible for collecting all signatures on waivers for managed care at the point of check in.
13. Completes Workques as needed in a timely fashion along with daily tasks according to the scheduling area working in.
14. Responds to all patient communication in a timely manner.

The Cardiovascular Technologist/Interventional Extern is a temporary position for students that provide support for the delivery of a full range of medical imaging and/or interventional procedures, performing a variety of technical and patient care related duties enhancing the effective and efficient delivery of services under direct supervision.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Currently enrolled in an Accredited Radiology School.
3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

1. Supports the Cardiovascular/Interventional Technologists in the planning and execution of imaging procedures meeting the standards of the department.
2. Greets patients upon arrival to the department and consistently facilitates the patient’s department experience.
3. Reports equipment failures immediately upon identification.
4. Under direct supervision, provides direct patient care as needed to facilitate imaging services including but not limited to sterile tray set up, prepping patient, pulling of supplies, scub procedures, circulating, and initiate fluoro.
5. Assists the patient, as applicable, in preparing for the procedure by assisting patient gowning, and transfer to exam table.
6. Coordinates the inpatient department flow by maintaining communication between the department and patient floors.
7. Assesses the patient’s needs related to comfort, and provides support accordingly.
8. Escorts the patient to and from the procedure suite and assists as needed with patient arrival and departure from the department.
9. Promotes the team approach by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, residents and medical staff.
10. Engages in problem solving, crisis management and systems implementation throughout the hospital to promote and support efficient, high quality, cost effective patient care.
11. Maintains confidentiality of all Protected Health Information.

22. Enters into EPIC System any written physician orders in an accurate, consistent and timely manner.
23. Generates Kardex and Medical Admission Records from Merlin, upon entering of admission orders and distributes documents to appropriate individuals.
24. Schedules lab work, x-ray's, diagnostic procedures, and forwards documents to appropriate individuals.
25. Completes laboratory requisitions and other forms accurately and according to departmental procedure.
26. Phones in consults to other services in a timely and accurate manner.
27. Maintains communication with other patient care departments (e.g. Dietary, Physical Therapy) to assure patient care needs are met.
28. Coordinates and facilitates ongoing communication to ensure timely, efficient intradepartmental and interdepartmental transportation of patients.
29. Dispatches patient care personnel to provide patient transportation at the request of ancillary departments.
30. Organizes and maintains patient records and appropriate department records to help ensure accurate and complete documentation.
31. Accurately prepares patient identification bands and name tags.
32. Accurately assembles, maintains and breaks down patient charts, reviews all printed orders as they come off the printer for stats, lab and diagnostic tests and advises RN of stat orders according to departmental procedure.
33. Accurately records lab results reported by telephone.
34. When advised by lab of abnormal results, immediately alerts RN.
35.Maintains stock levels of office supplies.
36. Complies accurate statistical or unit activity data for department, as assigned.

5. Performs assigned tests such as glucose monitoring, urine and stool testing and maintains quality control testing & logs, according to department policy. On Subacute Unit, CNAs are not permitted to do glucose monitoring.
6. Performs routine phlebotomy services, excluding line draws, in departments determined by management.
7. Obtains and records assigned patient temperatures, pulse rates, respiratory rates, blood pressures, intake and outputs, weights and abdominal girths according to departmental policy.
8. Provides respiratory support by properly setting up equipment needed for oxygen administration.
9. Encourage the usage of Incentive Spirometer according to Respiratory Care procedure.
10. Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
11. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
12. Assists physicians and registered nurse with examinations and procedures.
13. Assists with basic rehab/Physical Therapy activities, i.e. active and passive range of motion and ambulation.
14. Communicates with RN regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes
15. Provides total care within scope of practice (vital signs, activities of daily living) when assigned sitter or constant visual responsibilities.
16. Assists in indirect patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors and employees.
17. Maintains clean assigned, unit equipment according to departmental procedures.
18. Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.
19. Assists in routine unit operations as directed/needed to assure smooth communication and functioning of the unit.
20. Courteously answers telephone in a timely manner, identifying self and unit at all times.
21. Courteously answers patient call bell and relays message to the appropriate personnel.
22. Relays accurate telephone, visitor and patient messages to appropriate persons in a timely manner.
23. Promptly completes errands as requested.

2. Assigns hospital codes to a variety of patient classes (i.e. ED, OBS, SDC, etc.).
3. Assures that quality and timely coding, charging and abstraction of accounts are completed daily for assigned specialty areas.
4. Maintains and enhances current levels of coding knowledge through quality review, attendance and participation at clinical in-services and coding seminars, internal meetings, study of circulating reference materials, and inclusion of updates to coding manuals.
5. Assures the accuracy, quality, and timely review of data needed to obtain a clean bill.
6. Contacts physicians or any persons necessary to obtain information required for to accurately code assignments. Works and communicates with other offices in any manner necessary to facilitate the billing process.

3. Provides physical assistance, wheelchair assistance, transport services, escort services and room access patients, visitors and staff accessing WVU Medicine facilities.
4. Monitors and maintains traffic flow in parking areas and roadways by assisting disabled vehicles, issuing parking permits and warning violations.
5. Protects people and property by assisting in the prevention of accidents, theft and vandalism, in accordance with system and department policies and procedures, as monitored by supervision.
6. Performs routine building rounds, building door unlocks, exterior building and parking lot patrol.
7. Makes recommendations to management, staff, visitors and patients to improve security and prevent accidents and crime.
8. Reports suspicious situations, circumstances, incidents and persons, according to system and department policy and procedures.
9. Responds and provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff during fire and disaster drills, animal control issues, transportation of valuables, and lost/found issues, according to system and department policy and procedures.
10. Provides written documentation of activities, incidents, premises safety, accidents, theft, vandalism and other data requested by supervision in a factual, objective and legible manner.
11. Responds to and provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff during emergency situations such as; assaults, domestic disputes, fire, vandalism, bomb threats, theft, vehicle accidents, disasters, etc.
12. Performs patient restraint as directed by clinical staff, and is capable of physical intervention when appropriate.
13. Operates Hospital-owned vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
14. Ensures safety and proper operating condition of vehicles by performing vehicle inspections, as outlined by departmental policy.
15. Other requirements may include: Incident reporting, routine building rounds, incident investigation, crowd control, restraining patients, disaster response, domestic disputes, med G assists, parking enforcement, consistent presence and visibility, helicopter assignments, media issues, victim assistance, engages in traffic direction, policy enforcement, investigation of alarms, duress, etc., physical intervention, tire changing, battery jumps, parking rounds, effective radio communication, escorts patients/visitors/staff, accurate directions to customers, loss prevention, vehicle assists, transport equipment/staff/visitors/patients, posts assignments for exterior patrol/all canopy/all booths/building rounds/ED, and STOPS training.
