The Enterprise Compliance Auditor/Educator will assist with the implementation and facilitation of ongoing compliance auditing, monitoring, and educations associated with all provider services across WVUHS and its affiliates. The duties of this position will help ensure that all healthcare provider (MD/DO, APP, and other non-physician practitioners) organizations remains in compliance with all federal healthcare program rules, regulations, administrative requirements and guidance.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent AND Seven (7) Years of experience in multi-specialty coding, E&M coding, procedural/surgical coding OR;
Associate’s Degree AND Five (5) years experience in multi-specialty coding, E&M coding, procedural/surgical coding.
2. Current certification in one of the following:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Certified Coding Specialist- Physician (CCS-P)through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)

1. Conducts compliance-related audits and reviews. Coordinates with departments to conduct compliance audits and reviews. Such reviews take into consideration the rules and regulations for CMS, multistate (WV, OH, PA, MD, etc.), and payor specific regulations for chart documentation, valid coding and billing, and medical necessity support to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse as mandated by OIG compliance program requirements. Coordinates with departments to conduct audits across WVUHS and all its affiliates.
2. Coordinates with departments to conduct compliance audits. Evaluates the scope of the audit and develops/completes the required compilation of data analytical reports (independently of IT and/or Data Analytics) from the appropriate application or software in order to identify the audit universe and then select the appropriate sample based on the scope of the audit criteria.
3. Formulates and defines, along with the Director of Provider Compliance and VP of Corporate Compliance, the scope and objectives of audit or review.
4. Researches regulatory requirements that pertain to the audit or review.
5. Reviews medical record, billing, or other relevant documentation.
6. Develops and writes audit reports which outline audit findings, recommendations and corrective actions as needed.
7. Leads and conducts meetings with respective departments or individuals to review audit reports and develop corrective action plans as necessary.
8. Planning, developing and conducting presentations for internal and external departments.
9. Coordinates educational activities with the Director of Provider Compliance and VP of Corporate compliance to ensure organizational compliance education needs are met.
10. Conducts and/or facilitates audit training/education activities of the Compliance Department which may include individual or group training based on the results of internal audit reviews.
11. Reviews clinical issues with physician to ensure appropriate physician documentation, coding, and reimbursement.
12. Conducts and/or facilitates educational activities of the Compliance Department which may include individual, group, and/or online training development.
13. Assists in planning of informational programs, education, and training sessions to educate staff, both departmentally and institution wide, of current and changing compliance and regulatory requirements.
14. Develops and conducts ongoing compliance, documentation guidelines and billing education for new staff, including physicians, allied health and advanced practice professionals, and coding personnel. Additionally the auditor/educator assists with auditing and education, and acts a subject matter expert to the Enterprise Information Management team for both professional and hospital coding.
15. Development of Policies/Procedures.
16. Assists in review of new or revised regulations or policies issued by regulatory agencies to determine how they apply at UHA and as necessary, other provider groups.
17. Conducts ongoing auditing, monitoring, and/or investigations related to compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
18. Assists in compilation of compliance statistics, findings, and status updates for reporting. Prepares and submits required information to the Enterprise Director of Provider Compliance summaries of the completed audits to be included in updates provided to specific/designated entities for provider board of director and compliance/audit committees, whether physician practice or hospital based. The summaries include subject background, findings, recommendations, and any corrective actions.
19. Serves as compliance representative on assigned teams or committees to provide input and ensure that reporting systems, procedures, and processes are altered or maintained to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of patients in the home under the supervision of an RN. 20. Performs and monitors patient teaching according to the policy and procedures. Anticipates, modifies and adapts the teaching plan to accommodate the patient and family. Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan on a regular basis.
21. Coordinates care so that medications are administered as ordered by a physician and in compliance with the Medication Administration Standards. Reports findings of discrepancies to the primary RN and Administrative staff.
22. Collaborates with the primary RN in order to facilitate a change in the level of care in compliance with the change in level of care standard. Reports changes in level of care to primary RN and Administrative staff.
23. Understands the stages of death and dying as it relates to home health patients. Understands nursing care needed for terminally ill, acutely ill patient
24. Performs post mortem care as needed.
25. LPNs are responsible for the following technical skills and duties:
· IV Therapy including Ports, PICCs, TLC catheters, sterile dressing changes, antibiotic therapy-no PPIs, TPN and Chemo Infusions, no titration of pain pumps. LPN cannot pull PICC.
· Wound vacs, all aspects of sterile wound care, Pleurx drain care, Ostomy care, Trach care, Gtube care, and Foley and suprapubic caths. LPN cannot remove OnQ pain pump removal (placed by ortho).
· Labs via peripheral and central access.
· Revolution Device changes.
· Complete head to toe assessments.

1. RN performs the initial assessment upon admission and the LPN does continuing assessments, thereafter, implementing and evaluating with the RN patient care, according to policy using judgment to determine the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and documents this in the chart.
2. Demonstrates competency in technical and clinical skills, completes skills checklist, and correctly performs these skills daily as required.
3. Administers medications by all acceptable routes as ordered by physician and authorized by RN according to accepted policy and procedure.
4. Communicates plan of care and patient needs effectively, in a multi-disciplinary fashion to any and all involved persons and/or departments.
5. Anticipates teaching of needs of each patient, modifying, adapting, executing and evaluating the plan on a regular basis.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive management of interventional radiology patients, (including biological, social, and psychological assessments). The APP coordinates involvement of medical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and coordinates discharge planning (as applicable). The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.
Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and the requirements of the professional licensing or certification authority and/or hospital privileges, where applicable. Such service may include but are not limited to.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSE PRACTITIONER:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.
Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing
2.
National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers
3.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
4.
American Heart Association BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion
ofthe department.
5.
Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) Certification. If hired after 10/1/2017, associate has90 days to complete certifications. If hired prior to 10/1/2017, associate has 12 months to obtain.

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine or WV Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

of the department.
6.

Manages comprehensive and individualized care for interventional radiology patients and their families in the inpatient phase of hospitalization, immediately post discharge and in the ambulatory setting.
2.
Completes daily rounds; consults and/or pre-procedure/evaluations.
3.
Completes integrated assessments.
4.
With the collaboration of interventional radiology faculty or by following established clinical Guidelines and Protocols, ordersadditional tests or consults as deemedappropriate.
5.
Performs and communicates results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
6.
Consults and communicates with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings in the evaluations of patients.
7.
Performs succinct comprehensive clinical evaluations and documents findings in medical record.
8.
Facilitates patient discharge by coordinating appropriate services and tests prior to discharge necessary for outpatient follow-up appointments in the clinic (as applicable).
9.
Develops a comprehensive individualized plan of care for interventional radiology patients, which includes teaching, discharge planning and necessary referral to other members of the health care team as necessary.
10.
Demonstrates expertise in caring for patients across the age continuum of their educational experience and certification.
11.
Identifies unstable or complex interventional radiology patient care situations and facilitatesappropriate intervention in the clinic and/or hospital setting.
12.
Recognizes emergency situations and initiates effective emergency care.
13.
Evaluates interventional radiology patients and serves as a coordinator for follow up procedures and tests in the ambulatory setting (as applicable).
14.
Assists in the collection of outcome measures (as applicable).
15.
Demonstrates critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills in clinical decision making by the identification, evaluation, and management of the individual needs of patients/families.
16.
Demonstrates the ability to utilize equipment in a safe manner.
17.
Bases decisions made/actions taken on the relevant scientific principles, established standards of care and/or research findings.
18.
Utilizes teaching/learning theory and appropriate teaching strategies in the provision of education to nursing staff, hospital staff, students, patients, families and the community.
19.
Promotes an environment that facilitates learning by responding to appropriate patient/family preferences, priorities, and readiness to learn.
20.
Updates own knowledge base throughout the year.
21.
Completes all identified clinical competencies.
22.
Serves as a resource person for staff caring for the interventional radiology patient.
23.
Provides educational programs to professional and paraprofessional personnel in area of expertise.
24.
Participates in community programs, distribution of literature, as appropriate in area of expertise.
25.
Documents the plan of care, interventions, and evaluations in a clear and concise manner for every patient visit in the patient’s medical record following approved hospital/UHA policies and compliance standards for documentation.
26.
Collaborates with other leaders and staff to effectively achieve patient outcome-based improvements in care.
27.
Provides leadership in the development and implantation of changes in the interventional radiology practice that positively impact patient outcomes.
28.
Works collaboratively with medical and nursing staff to facilitate creative problem solving and provide professional support.
29.
Participates and initiates inter-disciplinary approaches to patient care, program development and education. Serves as a professional role model.
30.
Promotes and practices innovation of the expanded role in the delivery of care to neuroradiology/radiology patients and families throughout the inpatient hospitalization, and the ambulatory setting.
31.
Participates and provides leadership for committees and task forces.
32.
Documents hours and submits billing reports, as appropriate.
33.
Reviews and interprets interventional radiology data from sources such as patient registries, clinical and financial reports, length of stay, access to care, and cost per case reports and recommends/implements changes as necessary.
34.
Participates in clinical trials and research studies with the Principal Investigator.
35.
Assists neuroradiology Faculty, Administrators and Directors in the collection of outcome measures.
