Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients undergoing evaluation for a potential cancer diagnosis. The APP will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate diagnostic workups, provide patient education and support, and facilitate timely referrals to the appropriate specialty services. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering patient-centered oncology care..
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Vanderbilt Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery, a part of the Vanderbilt Department of Surgery, has quickly become a national leader in comprehensive surgical care. Our emphasis is placed on the evaluation and treatment of patients with benign and malignant tissue disorders.
We use a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and work closely to coordinate our efforts with the Divisions of Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Hematology, Surgical Pathology, Radiology and other disciplines.
The Division is an integral part of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and the Vanderbilt Breast Center and provides specialized care through our Endocrine Surgery Center and Pancreas Center.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment and plan of care.
In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute and complex care of patients and manages patients’ overall care, identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
Orders, performs, interprets and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions.
Prescribes therapeutic interventions for both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical, needed to achieve expected outcomes.
Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
Initiates appropriate referrals and consultations
Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within a specialty scope of practice.
Facilitates the patient’s transition between and within health care settings.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center conducts research and treats all types of adult cancers including solid tumor cancers and hematological (blood) disorders, as benign hematologic disorders such as coagulation disorders and non-cancerous blood diseases.
With over 80 faculty members representing a broad range of professional expertise, our dedicated team of professionals is committed to hematologic and oncologic care through:
Research to better understand and treat cancers and benign hematologic diseases
Translating VICC laboratory research into therapies to help people with cancer
State-of-the-art patient care and personalized cancer therapy
Clinical trials, including Phase I drug development with subsequent Phase II and Phase III testing
Training future hematology and oncology doctors and researchers
Cancer chemotherapy, pharmacology, and biological therapy with an emphasis on solid tumors
Treating bleeding and coagulation disorders, anemia and other disorders of blood

Coordinator, Disease Specialty — Ob/Gyn & Perinatal | RNMonday–Friday | Day Shift | Up to 100 miles local travel (mileage reimbursed)
In this role, you will lead coordination efforts for a designated Ob/Gyn and perinatal disease specialty program, strengthening relationships across VUMC Affiliate Hospitals and community/outlying sites. You will help ensure VUMC meets The Joint Commission (TJC) disease-specific certification (or other accrediting body) requirements, partnering closely with the Accreditation & Standards team to maintain designation as a certified center.
You will also support timely, evidence-based care for patients presenting to VUMC with acute disease and ensure consistent patient education, follow-up planning, and outcomes tracking across the care continuum.
Key Duties/Tasks
Build and maintain a disease-specific network with VUMC Affiliate Hospitals and community/outlying hospitals
Support compliance with TJC disease-specific certification and related accreditation standards; collaborate with Accreditation & Standards to maintain certification/designation
Promote timely, optimal, evidence-based care using nationally recognized guidelines and organizational standards
Ensure disease-specific patient education is completed and documented
Coordinate discharge planning support, including scheduling follow-up care and serving as a post-discharge point of contact for the designated patient population
Collect, coordinate, and report outcomes data for the specified population
Partner with Patient Care Center leadership and multidisciplinary teams to meet program goals, metrics, and performance improvement initiatives

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
In order to address the pressing needs of women in today’s world, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at VUMC is dedicated to excellence in clinical and population women’s health care, to training the next generation of women’s health care providers, and to answering important clinical and biologic questions in women’s health. Our faculty consists of more than 170 physicians, midwives and nurse practitioners housed in the clinical divisions of General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS), Gynecologic Oncology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Focused sections and services in complex family planning, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, PCOS, maternal addiction, cardiovascular disease in pregnancy, lower genital tract diseases, transgender medicine, menopausal medicine, and community/global health complement our divisional structure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establishes and maintains an obstetric and perinatal disease and/or patient population specific Network with community and outlying hospitals and referring physicians; particularly focusing on VUMC Affiliate Hospitals and/or those with agreements regulated bygoverning bodies.
- Assures TJC Certification/Accreditation and licensing requirements are maintained; collaborating with Leadership, Standards and Accreditations Department and Quality and Patient Safety Leadership.
- Maintains and assists with the development of protocols consistent with current national perinatal practice guidelines and supports education/training for health care professionals.
- Facilitates Continuum of Care by conducting community educational activities/lectures on prevention and reduction of neonatal and perinatal risk factors and assuring follow-up of patients post discharge, acting as a liaison and tracking outcomes.
- Demonstrates Professional Practice behaviors including preceptor/mentoring, education and instruction of students, nursing staff, nurses, graduate and novice nurse practitioners.
- Participates in establishing ongoing goals and objectives for the program including executing on goals and objectives for the program as directed by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. PCC leadership and Program medical leadership.
- Collaborates with other regional centers in the state to offer educational programs to hospitals and EMS teams
- Provides virtual and in-person obstetric training and neonatal resuscitation training to clinical providers across middle TN through the regional perinatal center
- Participates in data collection and preparing reports regarding regional perinatal center activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment and plan of care.
- In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute and complex care of patients and manages patients’ overall care, identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
