Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, the ED Technician assists the nursing staff in the care of patients. The ED Tech is responsible for performing a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities as delegated by the Registered Nurse.I. Major Responsibilities:
Patient Care Support
1. Assists patients with activities of daily living (e.g., hygiene, ambulation, toileting, nourishment).
2. Obtains specimens and performs measurements (e.g., vital signs, EKGs, blood glucose).
3. Assists in exams and treatments (e.g., CPR, IV discontinuation, sterile tray setup).
4. Applies protective and therapeutic devices as instructed.
5. Transports patients and equipment safely.
Operational Support
1. Maintains and cleans equipment.
2. Stocks and prepares rooms with necessary supplies.
3. Cleans rooms and stretchers between patients using hospital-approved disinfectants.
Communication and Documentation
1. Communicates clearly and promptly with RNs regarding patient status.
2. Documents all care activities in the medical record.
3. Reports physical or behavioral changes in patients to the RN.
Age-Specific Competency
1. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.

2. Certification or licensure in one of the following: Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, EMT/EMT-I

The Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This role supports patients with activities of daily living and helps maintain a safe and clean environment.I. Major Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care
1. Provides constant observation for patients at risk for injury.
2. Obtains and reports vital signs, pulse oximetry, and non-invasive blood pressure.
3. Performs blood glucose testing and EKGs as indicated.
4. Provides safe patient transportation and reports changes in condition or behavior.
Equipment Management
1. Retrieves and cleans equipment between uses.
2. Follows equipment management protocols on the assigned unit.
Documentation
1. Records intake, output, height, weight, and vital signs in the electronic medical record.
2. Documents blood glucose results, personal care completion, and patient activity.
Environmental Safety
1. Ensures call light is within patient reach and bed is in low position 100% of the time.
2. Maintains a clean and safe environment.
Transportation and Specimen Handling

Infection Control
1. Washes hands before and after patient care.
2. Follows infection control guidelines for patients on precautions.
Education and Precepting

Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, and in keeping with unit specific standards, provides patient care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients; and assists members of the healthcare team. In order to become a PCT II a caregiver must meet the full competencies outlined by the Nursing Professional Practice.As an integral member of the patient care team, serves both internal and external customers including patients, nurses, physicians and other colleagues who support the delivery of care and services.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.

I. Major Responsibilities:

The Manager, Pharmacy Distribution functions as both a clinician and manager dedicated to optimal processing, dispensing, and delivery services. Performs selected and delegated nursing tasks in the care of patients. Completes patient physical assessment. Performs and/or delegates patient treatments as ordered by Provider and participates in education plan for patient/family.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Assesses and obtain a patients basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.
2. Administers medications, performs treatment as ordered, and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.
3. Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.
4. Participates in implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions, and teaching.
5. Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to Provider and/or RN and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.

Required:
1. Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
2. Current Massachusetts licensure required.
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Performing voiding trials according to established clinical protocols and accurately document patient outcomes. Initiate and monitor Intravenous (IV) Hydration therapy as ordered by the provider, including patient assessment, IV insertion, monitoring during treatments, and documentation.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care using the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice within a specific unit or clinical area.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Nursing Process:Utilizes the nursing process for the delivery and management of patient’s care.

- Demonstrates essential knowledge of pharmacology/medications in administering drugs and monitoring the patient’s response.
- Maintains competency with technology and equipment. Utilizes equipment in a safe manner.

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

- Ability to provide care for a designated group of patients according to the unit guidelines and hospital policies, procedures and protocols.

EDUCATION:
Must be a graduate of a recognized school of Nursing
A Bachelor’s degree (BSN) in Nursing is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years of Nursing experience preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
LICENSES, ETC.:
Must have a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License.

Performs a wide variety of duties in the Endoscopy Unit. Assists clinical staff with procedures and assists in maintaining inventory and cleanliness of Endoscopy Unit. Assists the Professional Nurse in ensuring the maintenance of principles and practices of endoscopic processes within the Endoscopy Unit.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Inventory supplies in each designated area and order supplies according to PAR levels, including an end of the day review and inventory.
2. Reprocess Endoscopy instrumentation in CSR and pick up sterile equipment.
3. Reprocess endoscopes using the scope washer and document cycle results.
4. Applies knowledge of procedures by using and operating the correct equipment on a daily basis based on scheduled cases.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, this position is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications for patients. Completes other tasks associated with drug distribution processes, automated dispensing systems, packaging, IV systems, training, and scheduling.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Answers telephone calls and triages requests from customers to the pharmacist staff.
2. Triages window requests from customers.
3. Delivers medications to the patient care areas and picks up copies of physician orders, return of medications, etc. Completes scheduled rounds on patient care areas.
4. Assists with inventory management tasks which includes, but is not limited to, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and materials, ordering, receiving and storing non-controlled medications from the wholesaler on a daily basis, storing medications in designated areas in the central pharmacy, IV room and anesthesia prep area, ensuring bin labels are visible and clear, segregating medications to appropriate storage bins, etc., and checking for expiration dating on medications on a consistent basis to assure medications do not leave pharmacy with short dating.

Echocardiogram Performance
1. Performs M-mode, 2D, and color/Doppler exams according to ARDMS protocol.
2. Utilizes multiple patient positions and equipment settings for optimal imaging.

Performs a variety of clerical activities necessary for the efficient functioning of patient care unit and related duties.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Serves as unit receptionist, directs patients, visitors and others. Answers telephone and intercom. Takes and relays messages. Refers unusual or questionable situations to supervisor or others.
2. Uses pneumatic tube system, dumb waiter, and receives and transmits messages. Arranges for specimen transport.
3. Transcribes physician orders. Enters orders into entry system according to standard procedure. Utilizes down time procedures when indicated.
4. Duplicates reports, mails and distributes same. Prepares and maintains patient charts and kardexes. Assembles medical records. Files reports and other documents such as laboratory and radiology reports and other information in appropriate part of medical records. Evaluates, plans and performs treatments to alleviate physical dysfunction using manual, functional and physical agent modality techniques. Participates in departmental activities to assure smooth operations and facilitate program enhancement.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Administers therapy evaluations and develops treatment plan for physically, developmentally and/or functionally disabled patient populations, including infants and children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics and frail elderly, inpatient and outpatient as assigned.
