Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.$6,000 Sign-on Bonus eligible for external new hires to the UMMH system. Rules and restrictions apply - Talent Acquisition will discuss eligibility with candidates.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
2. Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
3. Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
4. Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
5. Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
6. Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
7. Develops, implements/coordinates and documents Education Plan for patient/family/ significant other.
8. Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
9. Administers medications, performs treatments, therapies and operates equipment according to policy and procedure. Assists physician with treatment and procedures and special tests as required or directed.
10. Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.
11. Assumes responsibility for professional growth. Assists in education and development of staff.
12. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
2. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.
Preferred:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
Experience/Skills:

1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.

Every 4th weekend and 3rd holiday

Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, and in keeping with unit specific standards, provides patient care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients; and assists members of the healthcare team.As an integral member of the patient care team, serves both internal and external customers including patients, nurses, physicians and other colleagues who support the delivery of care and services.
The Patient Care Tech III (PCT III) brings an additional skill set to the table. PCTs that are performing unit secretary duties, telemetry monitoring, remote video monitoring, or are working in the Emergency Department, ICU, Dialysis, Spine Procedure Room, Endoscopy, Neurointerventional Radiology, Angiography, and Radiology Short Stay, and Harrington Telemetry Certified & Step-Down Unit are eligible for this level.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels, and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
11. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
12. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.
13. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
14. Answers telephone using appropriate telephone etiquette. Takes and relays messages. Utilizes intra-department communication systems, such as pagers and intercom.
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.
16. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.
The PCT III must fit into one of these specialties:
Unit Secretary
Functions as unit secretary assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures at least 5 shifts (40 hours) every 6 months. Has administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to, maintaining logs, organizing patient care charts for admission/discharge/transfer and maintenance of medical records. Enters data or retrieves medical information from the electronic medical record systems.
Remote Video Monitoring
Continuously observes multiple patients utilizing the remote video monitoring system.
Emergency Department, Step Down Unit, ICU, Dialysis, Spine Procedure Room, Endoscopy, Neurointerventional Radiology, Angiography, and Radiology Short Stay.
Telemetry Certified & Step-Down Unit - Harrington
PCT IIIs are cross trained in phlebotomy and telemetry competencies, as well as the unit clerk position. PCT IIIs will also be assigned to areas of higher acuity, such as the Step-Down Unit.

Reporting to the AVP of Philanthropy Operations, Stewardship and Finance, the Philanthropy Support Services Manager is responsible for the oversight, management, and continuous improvement of gift processing, donor acknowledgment, financial reconciliation, and treasury coordination. This position ensures the accurate and timely recording, acknowledgment, reconciliation, and reporting of charitable contributions while maintaining compliance with IRS regulations, institutional policies, accounting standards, and fundraising best practices.I. Major Responsibilities:
Gift Processing Oversight
- Oversee the Gifts Processor and all gift processing activities, ensuring contributions are accurately recorded and deposited in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Manage the daily workflow for cash, checks, credit card gifts, electronic fund transfers, stock gifts, donor-advised fund distributions, matching gifts, planned gifts, and in-kind contributions.
- Provide back office support and staffing for fundraising events.
- Establish and monitor service level standards for gift entry, receipting, and donor acknowledgment.
- Ensure accurate coding of gifts, pledges, payments, appeals, campaigns, and designation information within the fundraising database.
- Develop and document gift processing procedures and internal controls.
Donor Acknowledgment and Stewardship Administration
- Oversee timely generation and distribution of donor acknowledgment letters and tax receipts. Ensure acknowledgments meet IRS substantiation requirements and institutional standards.
- Collaborate with stewardship and frontline fundraising staff to support donor recognition programs and reporting.
- Monitor acknowledgment turnaround times and maintain quality control processes.
Financial Reconciliation and Treasury Support
- Oversee daily reconciliation of philanthropic revenue between the fundraising database and the organization's general ledger.
- Coordinate with Finance and Treasury teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely reconciliation.
- Working with the dedicated Gifts Processor, review and reconcile gift deposits, merchant services activity, lockbox activity, and electronic gift transactions and approve all gift entry batches.
- Maintain documentation supporting audits and financial reviews.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with IRS charitable substantiation requirements, institutional gift acceptance policies, and applicable accounting guidelines.
- Maintain strong internal controls related to gift processing, cash handling, segregation of duties, and financial reporting.

Prepares patient for exams as required and insures patient comfort and modesty always. Performs Computerized Axial Tomography Scan procedures according to department procedure using standard C.A.T. Scan equipment to apply prescribed ionizing radiation to assist physicians in the screening and diagnosis of patient illness and injury for patients of all ages. Performs related tasks such as assisting patients in positioning for correct anatomical exposure, maintaining order and cleanliness of work area and performing routine clerical tasks. Works as technologist and performs duties in other areas and/or modalities as necessary.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for C.A.T. scans. Prepares patient for exams as required and insures patient comfort and modesty always. Obtains and reviews the requisition for C.A.T. Scan. Properly identifies patients according to the NPSG. Reviews Radiologist imaging protocol, patient questionnaire and medication home list before any procedure is performed.
2. Participates in transfer of patients if needed, positions and instructs patients regarding the procedure to obtain the desired diagnostic image and results.
3. Follows all department established and appropriate policies and procedures as required. Makes changes and adjustments to techniques as required by observance of Radiologist to obtain a high-quality study with the lowest possible dose.
4. Provides protection to unaffected areas of the body from radiation exposure utilizing lead shields in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
5. Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the performance of CAT scans. Sets up and operates CT Scanner for all CT interventional studies, which include biopsies, drainage, aspirations, and spinal injections.
6. Assists Radiologist during procedures as required.
7. Evaluate CT scans for technical quality; collates processed images in sequence and appropriate label. Evaluates CT scans to determine if additional scanning is required. Perform 2 and 3 dimensional reformations of CT scans as per protocol or Radiologist direction. Charge procedures and supplies in department RIS system. Ensures that CT studies, examination requisitions and other related records are properly completed for proper patient identification, statistical and billing purposes.
8. Prepares CT images for reading by Radiologist through PACs. Starts IVs and administers oral and IV contrast as per policy and protocol. Verifies there are no contraindications to the administration of contrast and notifies Radiologist.
9. Orients and trains new CT Technologists and students.
10. Maintain accurate patient records, documents all CT information; including contrast reactions through the occurrence reporting system, radiation dose, and contrast dose.
11. Stocks and cleans scanner rooms, and notifies supervisor of supply needs.
12. Transport patients as needed.
13. Works as Radiographic Technologist and performs duties in other areas and/or modalities as needed. Maintains competence in standard radiologic procedures by rotating into radiology areas as assigned.
14. Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown immediately to supervisor. Takes defective equipment out of service.

Performs selected and delegated nursing tasks in the care patients.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates patient flow and prepares patient for examinations. Prepares patient for office and laboratory procedures as required. Assists physician and others as required or directed.
2. Evaluates patients. Documents information as required. Takes vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, height and temperature.
3. Cleans and stocks examination rooms as required. Maintains supplies and pharmaceuticals as required.
4. Performs and records laboratory results such as urine dip sticks. Documents readings as required. Ensures laboratory results are received and reviewed by physician or others as required.
5. Triages medical calls. Returns calls and documents in patient medical record as required or directed. Ensures follow up. Provides patient education.
6. Calls prescriptions and refills as directed. Documents prescription calls as required.
7. Establishes recall system for physical examinations, paps, abnormal tests and related results.
8. Calls patients who miss appointments as required. Documents no shows and follow up as required.
9. Prepares, administers and documents immunizations, injections and laboratory tests following standard procedure within scope of practice.
10. Receives and evaluates patient referrals as required.

Performs a variety of duties involving the gathering, processing, and legal registration of information on infants born at the community hospital and their mothers, for birth certificates and other birth related requirements. In addition, performs a variety of computer, clerical, and supply functions that support patient flow and the operation of the patient care unit.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Interviews patients and gathers information as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the completion of paternity papers, denials, birth statements and certificate, and Social Security forms.
2. Assists patients in handling of paternity papers, denials, and information changes.
3. Completes Fetal Death reports as needed.
4. Performs quality checks on completed birth certificates to ensure accuracy and completeness and that all aspects are in accordance with state laws.
5. Reviews prenatal statistic information for each birth for completeness and accuracy and forwards it to the Registry of Vital Statistics and respective city departments.
6. Provides birth certificate registration, and other birth related information, in person or over the phone, to parents, families, adoption agencies, the Registry of Vital Statistics, and representatives of other appropriate agencies.

Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, the Patient Care Technician I performs a variety of patient care activities. Receives workplace education and training to assist members of the healthcare team in the care of patients.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ weights and heights.
8. Performs EKG’s, Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Performs other selected unit specific procedures, such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
10. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient, obtaining equipment and supplies, helping to position patient, providing the patient with emotional support, and cleaning up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
11. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.

Performs a variety of supervisory, program management, education, and clinical activities in the Social Work department.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Oversees daily operations in the Social Work department. Assures clinical caseload assigned equitably amongst staff. Coordinates and assigns staff schedules, assuring daily operational needs are met.
2. Leads Performance Improvement Initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, assuring compliance to standards and patient/customer satisfaction. Develop Social Work onboarding initiatives as well as strengthen partnerships with Universities that have MSW programs to build out pathways for field placements and pipeline for Social Work growth. Prepares and presents reports as directed. Acts as team leader, facilitator or member for own clinical areas and interdisciplinary initiatives as assigned.
3. Assures that own clinical divisions comply with departmental policies and meet accreditation, regulatory and quality standards for clinical care delivery and documentation. Evaluates existing programs and identifies improvement opportunities to assure high quality and cost-effective practice. Collaborates with Social Work and Social Work Management to ensure Social Work practice is consistent with clinical practice where appropriate.
4. Create and build educational programs for Social Work Department, including continuing education and applying for applicable credits, creating an onboarding process and ensuring compliance with all annual requirements such as FIT testing, licenses, and other necessary certifications.
5. Performs clinical care, including patient evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and interdisci-plinary care coordination in Social Work Department. Completes clinical documentation and other activities as described in staff job descriptions.
