The laboratory is dedicated to developing innovative cancer immunotherapies and is seeking a Staff Research Associate 2 to support both cutting-edge research and daily laboratory operations. This role will contribute to a variety of molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology studies, including cell culture, molecular cloning, flow cytometry, immune cell-based assays, and the isolation of cells from human blood and tissue samples. The position will play a key role in complex immunotherapy studies and in vivo T cell immunotherapy experiments utilizing the lab's novel induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) and T cell engineering platforms. A significant component of the role involves conducting mouse studies to model human immune responses, requiring hands-on experience with in vivo tumor models, immune assays, tumor and treatment injections, animal colony management, and related research techniques.

In addition to research responsibilities, the Staff Research Associate 2 will help maintain efficient laboratory operations by managing equipment and critical resources, monitoring laboratory inventory, placing and tracking orders, and supporting overall lab organization and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, maintain meticulous records, and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced research environment. The Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) will assist in preparation, management and daily use of critical laboratory resources including frozen human tissue bank, hybridomas and human cell line stocks.This position will entail the isolation of biological materials, (DNA, RNA and protein) from precious human tissues, cell lines and xenografts. High-quality management and cataloging of these resources using relational computer database will be required.The job will entail a large amount of tissue culture work, including cell maintenance type work, as well as cell proliferation assays. In addition, the position will require the generation of Western blots, PCR, RT-PCR assay, DNA gel electrophoresis, PCR product purification, DNA gel isolation, generation of expression vectors through molecular cloning, including DNA mini & maxiprep and restriction enzyme digestion. Generation of cell line clones through molecular cloning and lentiviral system will also be required.

Under the direct supervision of the area supervisor, the Senior Animal Technician performs routine animal husbandry and/or cage wash tasks at the operative level, including Cage wash & Biosecurity & Hazard Containment (Haz Con) areas as needed.   Performs routine animal husbandry tasks including cleaning, watering, feeding, and grooming of common laboratory animals following department procedures and guidelines of the American Association of Laboratory Animal Sciences Manual for Laboratory Technicians; develops and implements proper processes, personnel training, equipment checks and maintenance, area maintenance, transportation of cages and caging accessories between buildings within campus, and serves as a backup for planed an unplanned employee absences. Under the direction of the area supervisor, conducts quality assurance checks in the assigned support areas to verify compliance with internal SOPs, as well as with UCLA and extramural regulations that govern cage wash operations in an animal care and use program.  Overtime may be required as well as holiday and weekend work.

Required:

As an Administrative Assistant II floater for the Department of Urology, responsibilities include checking patients in and out, collecting co-payments when appropriate, answering, screening and responding to patient phone calls, scheduling clinic appointments, confirming clinic appointments, assisting patients with scheduling diagnostic tests, preparing charts and documents for clinic visits, filing, process requests for medical records, routing medication refill requests, and assist with processing disability and return-to-work forms for patients.
