Position Summary
The Manager, Investigational Drug Services (IDS) provides leadership and operational oversight for IDS pharmacy services across Illinois and Wisconsin. This role supports both inpatient and outpatient investigational drug programs, oversees IDS team members, and collaborates with pharmacy, research, and clinical stakeholders to ensure compliant and efficient study operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead IDS pharmacy operations across multiple Midwest locations.
Provide direct and/or indirect supervision of IDS staff.
Oversee budgeting, operational planning, and resource management.
Review protocols, pharmacy manuals, study documents, and other clinical trial materials.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, institutional, and research requirements.
Support quality improvement and program growth initiatives.
Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license.
Minimum 3-5 years of Investigational Drug Services (IDS) pharmacy experience.
Experience reviewing and implementing clinical trial protocols.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
Pharmacy residency training.
Sterile compounding experience.
Experience with budgeting and financial planning.
Schedule
Full-time, salaried position.
Primarily Monday-Friday, first shift.
On-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed.
Location
Hybrid position supporting locations in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Approximately 60%-80% onsite.
Regular presence at Advocate Health St. Luke's Medical Center and Advocate Health Lutheran Medical Center.
Travel between locations required.
Pay Range:
$68.20 - $102.30Major Responsibilities:
- Manages and oversees daily operations by establishing priorities, providing work direction, resolving problems and monitoring department performance. Ensures that services are safe and high quality.
- Ensures pharmacy services align with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Ensures that accepted standards of practice as outlined by accrediting bodies, ASHP, USP, and ISMP are followed. Complies with all requirements of OSHA and the Department of Public Health.
- Ensures appropriate department staff levels and oversees scheduling. Monitors productivity and makes appropriate adjustments. Ensures optimal use of supplies for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Identifies quality and safety risks in department operations and clinical practices. Establishes and implements quality and safety improvements. Ensures medication safety event reporting is completed.
- Supports pharmacy and interdisciplinary goals at both the system and site level. Leads the implementation of system initiatives and policies, and monitors compliance at the site. Collaborates with other site leaders to meet site goals, provide interdisciplinary services and resolve site issues.
- Ensures team members perform identified clinical and operational pharmacy services to support patient care. Collaborates effectively with other site leaders and departments. Monitors effectiveness of department services. Leads quality improvement projects within the department and site.
- Identifies, plans and develops new and improved services through evaluation and innovation.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
- Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in a health system pharmacy practice as a pharmacist. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in management of staff and in overseeing of budgets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Demonstrates leadership skills and abilities including problem solving, prioritization, decision making, delegation, team building, patient service, and conflict resolution.
- Advanced knowledge of pharmacy practice, clinical skills, pharmacy reimbursement, and an understanding of heal care and hospital trends and issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with providers, staff and patients.
- Must be detailed-oriented with the ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Intermediate computer skills including experience in using pharmacy automation and point-of-sale systems.
- Strong aptitude in human resource management.
- Life support training courses may be required dependent on department discretion.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Generally exposed to normal office environment.
- May frequently lift up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
- Must be able to sit, stand and walk majority of workday. Must be able to reach forward and above shoulder, bend/stop, twist torso, squat, and kneel.
- Must have functional speech, vision and hearing.
- Will be exposed to chemical hazards; therefore must have ability to wear protective clothing as needed.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Regularly monitors the patient tracking system, registration reports & financial clearance activities to ensure patients are registered within key performance standards.
Supervises colleagues to ensure excellent professional customer service is provided to patients, providers, coworkers, & the community. Monitors daily operations to ensure adherence to documented administrative & departmental policies & procedures, achievement of established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve optimal productivity, accountability, & efficiency, & facilitation of departmental workflow.
Monitor all financial clearance activity ensuring all accounts are verified at time of service & meet medical necessity requirements.
Coordinates investigation & appropriate resolution of problems from patient/family or staff complaints. Resolves patient questions regarding payment requirements/charges referred by the registrars.
Coordinates daily schedule & staffing to allow for performance of urgent assignments & coverage during peak workload that maximizes patient satisfaction & minimizes delays.
Provides operational guidance & support to assigned team, disseminates policy/procedure updates, supports coverage of other departmental divisions as required.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) to Three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory or lead role
Two (2) to Three (3) years’ experience working in a Pre-service or Patient Access operations.
Obtain National certification in HFMA CRCR, NAHAM CHAA & / or NAHAM CHAM required within one (1) year of hire.
Additional Qualifications (nice to have)
Associate degree preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite

$38.20 - $57.30Please join our 32-bed medical surgical unit at Atrium Health Cleveland. We care for a plethora of medical and surgical diagnoses and provide all the peritoneal dialysis for our facility. The unit is the stroke accredited and age friendly unit for the facility.
We collaborate with providers across the spectrum of disciplines (hospitalists, neurology, nephrology, pulmonology, cardiologists, intensivists, surgeons, orthopedics, and wound care) to ensure best practice and access in providing high quality, compassionate care. We partner with the Virtual Nursing Program, who assist in providing the most technologically advanced care to our patients.

- Develops, implements and manages outpatient services and/or phone support line to provide lactation support on an individual basis. This may include a breast pump rental and/or retail store.
- Assists with the development of, and supports the staff that, facilitate patient breastfeeding. Identifies staff learning needs and provides in-services related to breastfeeding.
- Provides overall leadership and direction of breastfeeding to hospital staff, health care professionals and the community utilizing current research.
- Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes. Participates in the teaching of breastfeeding classes and/or support groups. Reviews current breastfeeding education materials and updates annually.

$25.30 - $37.95Join our 32-bed medical surgical unit at Atrium Health Cleveland. We care for a plethora of medical and surgical diagnoses and provide all the peritoneal dialysis for our facility. The unit is the stroke accredited and age friendly unit for the facility.
We collaborate with providers across the spectrum of disciplines (hospitalists, neurology, nephrology, pulmonology, cardiologists, intensivists, surgeons, orthopedics, and wound care) to ensure best practice and access in providing high quality, compassionate care. We partner with the Virtual Nursing Program, who assist in providing the most technologically advanced care to our patients.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care according to established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Assists with assessment by collecting and documenting data, actions and responses including biological, psychological, social and cultural factors. Detects significant changes in patient condition and reports these to the registered nurse.
- Assists with developing the plan of care and implements as directed by the registered nurse.
- Supports and reinforces patient teaching according to individualized plan of care.
- Documents performance of nursing interventions and patient's response to those interventions and communicates effectiveness of interventions and changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
- Communicates changes in medical orders to the registered nurse.
- Performs clinical tasks or skills such as medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, venipuncture, etc.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
Education Required:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.

Summary:
Coordinates the successful transfer or bed placement of patients entering Memorial Healthcare System (MHS). Ensures patients are assigned rooms in an expedient manner by communicating effectively with the surgery department, emergency department, nursing units, physician offices, and outlying facilities to ensure appropriate transfer and placement of patients. Gives high priority to customer service and complete customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Follows established documentation protocols for transfer and bed placement in the Epic EMR to ensure adequate patient safety standards are met.
Collaborates across all disciplines to coordinate patient transfers, including disposition, ambulance transportation (internal and external), specialist referrals, etc. Coordinates the successful transfer and placement of patients across MHS.
Assigns initial bed placement and establishes bed assignments based on documented assessment, patient and bed attributes, isolation and identified risks.
Anticipates admission needs and communicates findings with transferring department, nurse or facility and collaborates to obtain optimal patient flow across the system.
Plans, implements, and evaluates patient needs based on reported assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Remotely triages using Critical Care or Emergency Department experience to identify patient care needs providing expert and timely recommendation for correct facility transfer based on patients acuity, services required, condition, circumstances and area facility capacity and capability matrixes.
Utilizes the chain of command to advocate for a patient in need of priority admission or transfer to higher or lower level of care that are beyond the scope of practice for the facility, specialists, etc. (e.g., STEMI, stoke, trauma alert).
Accurately completes effective and expedient placement of patients from all nursing units with emphasis on the ED, ICU, Post Anesthesia Care, Cardiac Care, Cath Lab, and external transfers.
Remotely engages with facility staff to monitor and document transfer need; communicates patient condition to sending or receiving providers and facilities. Consults other disciplines based upon patient s needs, e.g., infection control, equipment needs, nutritional, functional, pain, social and skin integrity.
Serves as the expert in Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) and intervenes including escalation to leadership, as needed. Follows established protocols for interfacility transfer acceptance and escalates to direct report, Administrative Officer, or Administrator On Call (AOC).

- Proficiently operates angiographic and ultrasound equipment used to perform basic to advanced procedures on inpatients and outpatients. Must perform and be proficient with all of the following procedures if performed at assigned facility or by assigned specialty at ASLMC (neuroendovascular, interventional radiology or interventional cardiology), which includes carotid stenting, cerebral intervention including embolization, coiling/stenting, angiograms and/or vertebro, kyphoplasty, chemo therapy, thera sphere embolization, adrenal and petrosal sampling, cryo and Radio Frequency (RF) ablation, and/or aortic aneurysm repair, advanced imaging applications, and complex peripheral interventions.
- Assists with interventional and surgical procedures as a scrub assistant with competent knowledge of equipment and equipment options, while working seamlessly with the attending and resident physicians. Serves as a resource to physicians on procedural equipment options.
- Monitors patients and alerts staff of life threatening changes in patient status. Applies the defibrillator and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required. Provides assistance with emergency procedures, responding quickly and effectively as they occur.
- Identifies and processes images, assuring that images are of diagnostic quality. Assists clinical engineering staff in evaluating digital equipment to maintain consistent image quality.
- Compares requisitions to physician orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy.
- Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images, identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
- Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies, and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care. Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
- Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy - butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
- Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.
- Participates in patient centered initiatives, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
