Summary:
The registered and certified pharmacy technician III works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy department. Additionally, provides a high level of assistance in distribution, dispensing, and compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications, and related supplies in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5K, contingent upon the applicant's qualifications and subject to certain eligibility requirements. Please note, that candidates must possess prior inpatient work experience to qualify for the sign-on bonus.
Responsibilities:
Competent and skilled to perform all duties of Technician I.Assists with procurement of medications and supplies through various ordering platforms.Performs sterile compounding, including limited hazardous medications in accordance with regulatory requirements.Able to perform all activities per pharmacy technician scope of practice.Assists with process improvement and continuous quality and safety monitoring initiatives.

Complexity of Work: The role requires advanced technological, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to lead and work well with others in a team with minimal supervision. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to respond positively in a stressful environment and meet the physical demands of the department. Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
Certification / Registration / License
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services

Experience

- Uses resources and critical thinking skills to assist inbound callers. Makes outbound calls when required or when follow up is deemed necessary.

- Responsibilities include scheduling patient appointments and coordinating cancellations, reschedules, and additions to schedules. Obtains demographic and insurance information and verifies insurance coverage. Ensures insurance and patient information obtained is complete and accurate, updating information if necessary, applying acquired knowledge of government and third-party payer requirements.
- Completes all essential forms, obtains necessary information, such as patient demographic and insurance information. Verifies and updates the medical record with patient information.
- Identifies emergent calls based on information provided by caller and department procedures. Follows the process for immediate transfer to Registered Nurse for triaging. Responsible for competency in and adherence to guidelines for emergency situations and critical call handling.
- Determines the needs of patients calling the call center which results in routing patients for triage, scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling appointments, submitting medication refill requests for evaluation, and paging providers and facilities as appropriate.
- Provides customer service per established departmental standards as measured by patients on post call survey. Asks clarifying questions, presents options or solutions, and understands the level of complexity of the call, escalating only those situations necessary for resolution.
- Assists with organizational marketing efforts by providing associated information and referral to customer, while maintaining appropriate records for documentation. Conducts regular reporting and updating of the provider and marketing databases.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

3CD is a 23 bed post-op surgical unit with 15 beds for Tele Patients. 75% of patients are admitted from PACU or as stepdown from Surgical ICU. This is a fast-paced, high acuity surgical unit specializing in Gastroenterology, Urology, Gynecology, and Plastic Surgery populations. This is a great unit for experienced Med-Surg nurses seeking to advance their skills and grow in their practice. It is also a great foundational unit for new graduate nurses who seek to eventually develop into more advanced clinical settings, such as ICU, ED, OR, and NP. We are a strong performing inpatient unit as measured by their Nurse Sensitive Indicators and Patient Experience scores. 3CD team members are committed to excellent clinical practice and patient outcomes. Shared Governance is an essential part of the culture on the unit, where nurses and nursing assistants have a strong voice in the daily operations. 3CD received top tier team member engagement scores in 2021.

Our Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a 22-bed unit. The team provides compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals recovering from acute and chronic illnesses requiring Physical, occupational and speech therapies. We take pride in our collaborative, team-oriented culture, where physicians, nurses, social workers, and rehabilitation therapists work closely together to promote recovery and support successful transitions out of the hospital.
