Summary:

The level III Women’s Center at Banner Desert Medical Center consists of a Labor & Delivery, High Risk Antepartum, OB Triage, OB OR’s & Postpartum Mother-Baby department that delivers professional and compassionate care to the mother’s & babies any gestation birth until discharge. Our highly skilled team includes experienced bedside registered nurses, licensed nursing assistants, scrub techs’ and IBCLC certified lactation consultants that care for the physical and emotional needs of delivering mothers and babies. There is no better time than now to be a part of our team with 14 LDR rooms, 24 Antepartum rooms, 3 surgical rooms, 4 recovery beds and 9 triage evaluation beds.
As a Lactation Consultant RN you will be rounding on patients in L&D, Postpartum, and the NICU to assist with breastfeeding and will provide education about breastfeeding, latching, and pumping to both patients and staff. This role includes developing feeding plans and collaborating with pediatricians and speech therapy.
*IBCLC Certification and previous lactation consultant experience is required for this position*
This is a part-time DAY shift position 20 hours a week from 7:30AM to 4:00PM. You will also have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy 18% night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential.

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards for professional practice and certification. The position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients. This position delivers lactation education and provides individualized direct patient and family education. Works in coordination with staff to select and deliver current patient education materials based on identified needs. Provides community and staff education in the specialty area of lactation. Acts as subject matter expert for patients and staff.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and outlined in policy.
2. Provides care and works collaboratively with patients, family and staff to formulate individualized lactation plans of care, education and intervention.
3. Delivers continuing education programs related to lactation. Suggests updates to educational materials based on needs assessment, advances in theory and technology as well as changes in standards of care related to lactation.
4. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goal for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family.
5. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to the caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
6. Evaluates the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient’s response and effectiveness of patient teaching. Provides ongoing support for mothers, newborns and staff related to lactation.
7. Documents assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record.
8. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Major Responsibilities:

SUMMARY
The Rehabilitation Aide reports directly to the Clinical Manager/Assistant Clinical Manager and performs duties under the supervision of Rehabilitation professionals. The Rehabilitation Aide assists clinicians in providing treatments designed to relieve pain and maximize function of patients across Brown University Health. The Rehabilitation Aide transports patients, maintains supply inventory, and prepares and cleans treatment areas. Provides office and systems support at all Rehabilitation Service locations for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Language Pathology/Audiology.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Principal Duties
Once deemed competent, and in accordance with the established treatment plan, the Rehabilitation Aide:
- Assists therapists and assistants in patient care as requested.
- Carries out patient intervention per therapist or assistant direction, including positioning, mobilizing, and exercising patients.
The supervising Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, or Audiologist will be present on the premises and immediately available to the Rehabilitation Aide when providing treatment. A Physical Therapist Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant may also provide supervision but must be on the premises, in line of sight, and immediately available.
Additional Duties
- Maintains gym and all treatment areas to Environment of Care (EOC) standards.
- Assists with EOC safety rounds.
- Enters work orders as applicable to gym and treatment areas.
- Maintains cleanliness of department equipment per infection control policies and equipment guidelines.
- Maintains equipment logs.
- Ensures that rehabilitation equipment, including but not limited to wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches, is clean and functional.
- Cleans and prepares treatment areas between patient use.
- Maintains and inventories therapeutic supplies, equipment, linen, and housekeeping supplies.
- Transports patients to and from treatment areas, exercising care in the handling of patients.
- May assist with scheduling, order entry, charge reconciliation, and scanning into the Electronic Health Record.
- Communicates in person or by fax/phone with patients, providers, healthcare team members, referral sources, and payers.
- Assists with departmental statistics and quality assurance, program evaluation, and environmental and infection control activities.
- Participates in meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Knowledge
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with patients and other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to assist with providing care to patients throughout Brown University Health, with consideration of the aging process, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
- Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Proficient using Microsoft Excel and Word software programs.
Experience
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- One year of related experience in fitness training or direct patient care, such as a Rehabilitation Aide or CNA position, required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

As a Radiation Oncology RN, you’ll partner closely with physicians and a multidisciplinary care team to coordinate and deliver care for patients. This is a dynamic role that blends clinical expertise, patient education, and care coordination.

- Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
- Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
- Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
- Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. - Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
