Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.Â

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.  Â
As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:Â Â
- Welcome patients and support their transition into care. Â
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings. Â
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures. Â
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed. Â
- Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing. Â
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record. Â
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.Â

- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Â
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Â
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions. Â
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines. Â
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed. Â
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary. Â
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Â
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required. Â
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.Â

Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices

- Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.  Â
- Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.). Â

Atrium Health Mountain Island Emergency Department, a facility of Atrium Health University City, provides 24-hour emergency medical services to the Northwest Charlotte area. This freestanding ED treats patients of all ages, from minor injuries to critical conditions such as heart attacks and strokes, with care delivered by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and the full support of Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center, the region’s only Level I trauma center. The department features six emergency rooms open 24/7, including one dedicated trauma room, a three-bay triage area, and two observation beds, along with on-site imaging services such as CT, ultrasound, fixed and portable X-ray, as well as laboratory and pharmacy support to ensure comprehensive patient care.
We’re Looking For:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience, this position is not for new graduates
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care. The Advanced Practice Fellow works in collaboration with and is an integral member of a interdisciplinary health care team. The Advanced Practice Fellow should have a basic foundation in evidence-based practice and demonstrate adequate medical and nursing knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation. The Advanced Practice Fellow may function in a variety of inpatient and outpatient care settings throughout the fellowship to optimize learning experiences.Focused learning experiences will be provided that enable the Advanced Practice Fellow to develop and refine essential specialty specific clinical and critical thinking skills promoting top of license practice. Immersion into an environment of collaborative interdisciplinary care will assure cost effective, quality, patient centered care. Department Summary:
The Vanderbilt University Medical Center Department of Otolaryngology– Head and Neck Surgery (O-HNS) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is an intensive 12-month advanced training program that begins in January each year.
The goal of the fellowship is to help the fellow grow and develop the medical and critical thinking skills required to build a successful career as an APP in Otolaryngology. This fellowship program offers the APP the opportunity to further learn, refine, integrate, and implement the APP role in O-HNS. The focus of this fellowship is on general O-HNS history, physical exam, diagnosis, management, and intervention in common O-HNS conditions across the lifespan. This also prepares the APP for collaborating with O-HNS surgeons, O-HNS APPs, audiologists, and speech pathologists in the management of these conditions.
Seventy-five percent of the fellowship is spent in clinical settings with different O-HNS subspecialties such as head and neck surgery, facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, sleep surgery, rhinology, otology and neurotology, pediatrics and general O-HNS clinic while consolidating the skills acquired from the didactic content of the course. The fellow is expected to demonstrate increasingly proficient clinical abilities that are well-grounded in research and theory.
Twenty-five percent of the program is concentrated on didactics, research or quality improvement (QI) projects, as well as professional and leadership development. The fellow is expected to complete and present research or a QI project at the end of the program. The fellow will function collaboratively with other healthcare professionals in a clinical setting and will be expected to demonstrate increasing independence in the APP-OHNS role, with preceptor consultation.

Summary:
Prepares and produces food for distribution to patients, retail, physicians and catering services.
Responsibilities:
Adheres to all applicable HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines regarding the requisition, storage, handling and preparation of food.Prepares food according to standardized recipes ensuring food production schedules are met.Ensures that food is prepared and documented according to quality, quantity, nutritional, temperature and safety standards.Follows menus provided and communicates any concerns to departmental leadership.Uses all necessary food service equipment as needed, using proper safety precautions, operational, cleaning procedures, as well as sanitation and maintenance of work area.
