Spanish speaking preferred. Chaplain will support Spanish speaking patients in the Weight Management Clinic at Advocate Sherman hospital.
Pay Range:
$28.55 - $42.85Major Responsibilities:
- Delivers wholistic ministry of spiritual care for patients, families, team members and physicians. Provides spiritual care, consultation and short-term counseling to patients, families, physicians, and team members as assigned and in accordance with site and system policies, facilitates sacramental ministries.
- Responds to codes, emergencies and/or crises. Assists families with their needs in relation to the patient’s illness so they can provide supportive care to the patient:assists family members in understanding procedures surrounding a death and in contacting families or other significant persons. Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating in safety initiatives.
- Participates in the life and work of the department and patient service area to assure integrated efficient services; participates in providing overall site coverage, including weekends and holidays, conducts services as scheduled; serves on department, site, or system committees as assigned.
- Participates in patient care planning, interdisciplinary team activities and development, staff and patient directed support groups, orients new team members; participate in grand rounds, case conferences, team meetings, identifying resolving ethical dilemmas in assigned areas. Provides consultation to team members to assess the role of a patient’s faith in recovery. Represents the values of the religious communities to health care professionals and hospital associates.
- Collaborates with the clinical pastoral education program by mentoring and/or orienting students as assigned and providing feedback to CPE Supervisor regarding student performance and educational needs.
- Supports and interprets the mission and values of Advocate Aurora Health in clinical and departmental responsibilities and team member engagement. Supports the hospital ministry of parish clergy through referrals, consultation and education.
- Participates in educational initiatives and support groups for patients and families, team members, community and faith groups; provides spiritual health education, crisis support and debriefings.
- Maintains good standing and ecclesiastical endorsement through active participation in the life and work of one’s faith group.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- 4 units of CPE, at least three accredited by ACPE.
- Eligible for board certification as a chaplain: APC/BCCI, NACC, NAJC; completed within 18 months of hire.
- Endorsed by faith group
Education Required:
- Completed graduate degree (MA, MDiv) in religious studies, theology, divinity or related field.
Experience Required:
- Prior clinical experience as a chaplain: 3 years
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Must be able to participate in overnight and weekend on-call rotation per the department schedule, including moving between sites of care as needed.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills.
- Demonstrated group process skills and leadership.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to address and resolve conflicts.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Competence in cross-cultural communication, cultural humility and religious diversity.
- Ability to trust, adapt to change, and to work with diverse personalities, cultures and faith traditions
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- May be exposed to blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Availability and transportation to serve on-call rotation as needed.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

We are seeking an Oncology Infusion Pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate, and effective preparation, verification, and dispensing of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic, and supportive care medications for oncology patients. This role collaborates closely with oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to optimize patient outcomes, maintain regulatory compliance, and support evidence-based cancer care in an ambulatory infusion setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and prepare chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care, and infusion medications in accordance with oncology protocols, USP standards, and state/federal regulations.
- Evaluate medication orders for appropriate dosing, treatment regimens, organ function, laboratory values, allergies, drug interactions, and protocol compliance.
- Verify chemotherapy calculations based on patient-specific parameters including diagnosis, body surface area (BSA), weight, and laboratory results.
- Supervise and support pharmacy technicians involved in sterile compounding and medication preparation to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related issues and optimize treatment plans.
- Monitor for adverse drug reactions, toxicities, and therapy-related complications and communicate recommendations to the care team.
- Provide drug information and education regarding oncology therapies, treatment protocols, supportive care medications, and infusion administration requirements.
- Maintain compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, hazardous drug handling standards, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical programs, and department projects that enhance patient safety and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required
- CT Pharmacist license
- Experience in oncology pharmacy, infusion services, or hospital pharmacy preferred
- Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 Oncology Residency preferred.
- Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) preferred or eligibility to obtain certification
- Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care agents, sterile compounding, and hazardous drug handling.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary oncology teams

This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.
3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.
4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.
7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.
8. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in OR room turnover.

Atrium Health Levine Cancer Outpatient Transplant and Cellular Therapy- This is an ambulatory infusion style pod with 15 chairs that is open 7 days a week from 0700-1900 to support the needs of transplant and cellular therapy patients. This team will help prepare patients for transplants by administering chemotherapy, administer cellular therapy products, and support patients during the acute phase after receiving the cellular therapy with IV medications, electrolyte replacement, blood products and other supportive care measures. This program is an extension of our already existing Transplant and Cellular Therapy program that was established 10 years ago and has completed more than 1200 transplants. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the original outpatient TCT team!
We’re Looking For:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Three years clinical experience with demonstrated clinical expertise and management abilities
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Oncology experience preferred.
- Proficiency in IV therapy, bone marrow, spinals, thoracenteses, paracenteses and phlebotomy preferred.

What You'll Do:

A high percentage of our patients have a diagnosis of leukemia, but we care for patients with all types of cancer. Many of our patients have extended stays to complete their course of treatment. This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.

5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.
7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.
8. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in OR room turnover.

Supports additional clinical research functions which include but are not limited to, attending Site Initiation Visits (SIV), collaborating with clinical research coordination team on clinical nursing reference sheets, clinical research support, and protocol implementation planning (PIP) meeting when there is no conflict with daily research infusions.
2. Performs protocol-specific assessments and monitor for adverse events, infusion reactions, and clinical changes. Reports findings per protocol and regulatory requirements. Collaborates closely with Principal Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to ensure accurate implementation of clinical trial protocols. Maintains thorough and accurate documentation of treatments, assessments, and protocol specific activities in the electronic medical record (EMR) and research source documents. Participates in study startup activities such as infusion feasibility review, protocol education, and development of treatment orders and workflows. Collaborates with Clinical Research Coordination team on developing clinical nursing reference sheets/clinical research support to be used in tandem with the EMR for clinical documentation, protocol monitoring, and data collection.
3. Manages infusion-related logistic including scheduling, pre-medication administration, lab draws, IV access, and post-infusion monitoring. Maintains working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, and institutional SOPs related to clinical trials. Educates patients and caregivers about clinical trials, treatment plans, potential side effects, and symptom management. Assists in protocol audits and data queries as needed.
4. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
5. Formulates a plan of care, including the timeliness of blood pharmacokinetics time points, monitoring parameters indicated per schedule of events and accuracy of the delivery of investigational products needed per clinical research protocol. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical/research plan of care. Ensures goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team.
6. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and effectiveness of teaching. Revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status as needed. 8. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, including physicians, clinical research coordinators, patients, families, and external Sponsor contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, and agencies concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings to report and ask for or clarify information. Works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Must have 2-3 years of nursing or research experience in oncology, cardiology, neurology and in the acute care setting.

The West Virginia University School of Medicine Department of Medical Oncology and the WVU Cancer Institute are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Hematologist/Oncologist to join our growing statewide cancer network. This faculty opportunity is available at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank, depending on qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will practice primarily at two locations, with approximately 60% of clinical effort based at Thomas Memorial Hospital and 40% at Jackson General Hospital. This position offers a unique opportunity to build a rewarding community-based practice while remaining connected to the resources and collaboration of an academic health system. Together, these sites serve communities with strong need for local access to high-quality cancer care and provide an excellent environment for a physician who values meaningful patient relationships, broad clinical practice, and visible impact.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive outpatient hematology and oncology care, including the diagnosis and management of both malignant and benign hematologic conditions. Responsibilities will include treatment planning, systemic therapy oversight, supportive care, survivorship care, and close coordination with multidisciplinary colleagues in other specialties.
As part of an academic department, the position also includes opportunities to engage in teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Clinical integration and pharmacist-to-pharmacist support
• Serves as a consistent “bridge” between BIDMC/MAH-inpatient pharmacists and DFCI inpatient-oncology providers, strengthening working relationships and streamlining communication
• Serves as an on-site oncology-pharmacy clinical resource for BIDMC/MAH teams for complex oncology-medication questions related to shared DFCI patients, providing real-time consultation support to reinforce safe oncology-medication practices
• Supports orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training of newly hired inpatient-oncology pharmacists at BIDMC or MAH, in collaboration with local pharmacy leadership, by providing DFCI-specific oncology-practice context, shared patient workflows, and key contacts/escalation pathways for DFCI-oncology patients
• Identifies recurring knowledge gaps or high-risk scenarios and coordinates targeted education with BIDMC/MAH-pharmacy leadership
2) Transitions-of-care communication for shared oncology patients from inpatient to DFCI ambulatory
• Establishes and maintains a reliable medication- and treatment-plan-handoff workflow for select high-risk DFCI patients discharged from BIDMC/MAH back to DFCI ambulatory care
• Communicates time-sensitive changes to DFCI ambulatory pharmacy teams, such as:
i. chemotherapy-plan changes, dose modifications, delays/holds, toxicity events impacting future therapy
ii. new or discontinued supportive care meds that affect ongoing outpatient management
iii. monitoring needs and follow-up medication plans tied to oncology therapy
• Anticipates downstream outpatient-access issues created by inpatient changes and alerts DFCI ambulatory pharmacy/clinic teams when action is needed (e.g., continuity of a specialty medication)
3) Inpatient chemotherapy-process support
• Serves as the pharmacy liaison for the inpatient chemotherapy-approval/authorization process for shared DFCI-oncology patients
• Provides regimen-specific clarification support for shared DFCI patients
• Escalates patient-specific concerns to the appropriate DFCI-disease group/ambulatory team to align inpatient actions with the outpatient-treatment plan
4) Liaison for inpatient-medication policies
• Serves as the DFCI-pharmacy liaison to BIDMC/MAH for inpatient medication-use policies with which DFCI intends to align
• Assists with policy-review cycles, and routes questions/updates through the appropriate governance channels at each institution (P&T, medication safety, etc.)
5) Quality/safety surveillance for cross-site issues
• Tracks and trends cross-site medication-related issues affecting shared patients (e.g., recurring handoff failures, repeated clarification types, common delay drivers)
• Leads or co-leads joint-improvement initiatives with BIDMC/MAH counterparts focused on reducing patient disruption and improving reliability of oncology-medication management across settings
6) Relationship management and governance support
• Maintains regular touchpoints with BIDMC/MAH oncology-pharmacy leadership and key DFCI stakeholders (ambulatory pharmacy leaders, disease-group pharmacists, medication safety)
• Clarifies escalation pathways and maintains up-to-date contact lists for high-risk oncology-medication issues
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Competence in clinical-oncology pharmacotherapy, demonstrating thorough understanding and adherence to safety protocols and best practices in oncology pharmacy
