Status: Full-time, permanent position (40 hours)

Work hours: 8am to 5pm EST, M-F

Job Summary:

Responsible for contributing to in-depth investigations for suspected fraud or abuse with respect to provider, pharmacy, employer, member, and broker interactions involving the full range of products through Sentara Health Plans lines of business. Responsible for contributing to the review of the quality of pharmacy, physician, ancillary and hospital-based coding in routine desk audits as well as occasional on-site audits. Contributes to the review of reimbursement systems relating to health insurance claims processing and ensures adherence to health plan policies and procedures for its various product offerings.

Job Description:

• Identify, investigate, analyze, and evaluate instances of potential fraud, waste, and abuse.

• Conduct interviews or correspond with patients, providers, witnesses, or other relevant parties to determine settlement, denial, or review.

• Analyze information gathered by investigation and report findings and recommendations as a written summary and/or presentation.

• Learn and conduct statistical sampling of complex medical claims.

• Assists in drafting settlements

Education:

• Bachelor's degree preferred

Certifications/Licenses:

• Certified Professional Coder preferred (or achieved within 12 months of hire date)

Experience:

• 2 years combined experience required in Internal/External Audit OR regulatory/Compliance OR Healthcare preferred

Emergency Department (ED)

The Emergency Department at Sentara Obici Hospital provides an exciting, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Our department is 37 beds to include a dedicated 5-bed Behavioral Health Safe Suite located within the department. We treat more than 53,000 visits annually (approximately 150 per day). skilled team of emergency nurses, physicians, and techs, the ED cares for patients across the spectrum, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. The department is well-equipped with advanced technology and rapid response protocols to ensure timely, effective care. Nurses in the ED are highly collaborative, quick-thinking, and supported by leadership that values innovation, safety, and professional growth. • A Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist, often referred to as a Cath Lab Technologist, is a healthcare professional specializing in assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality care and ensure the safety and accuracy of procedures.

• Job Description

  In this role, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in the performance of cardiac and vascular procedures. Resulting in an accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort. The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist performs/reviews a baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers during cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures. Provides patient care commonly used in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as requested and under the direction of a qualified physician. The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist acts as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization.

  Requirements: A graduate of a diploma, associates, or bachelor's health sciences program (includes, but is not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic. ACLS not required for hire but must acquire within 90 days.

• In addition to intraoperative duties, the surgical assistant also performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care.

• Demonstrates in depth clinical and technical skills in 3 surgical specialties. Participates in departmental improvement efforts to include quality improvement projects, conducting in-services, etc.
