*Otego Family Dental, PC*, founded in April 2010, is a family-owned dental practice operating in Otsego County, New York. With two offices—our original location in Otego, NY, and our second in Oneonta, NY—the practice has grown continuously while providing patients with exceptional treatment, service, and dental experiences. We are a family owned and operated; we are not tied to insurance company fee schedules or corporate quotas.

Drs. Kathy Knox and Alexander Kocieniewski, a mother-and-son duo, lead the two teams. Dr. Knox leads the Otego office, and Dr. Kocieniewski leads the Oneonta office. We are a prevention-oriented family practice. Our mission is to treat every one of our patients as if they were members of our own family. We provide quality dentistry with a gentle touch and take pride in guiding our family of patients to healthy smiles.

We are seeking a full-time Dental Hygienist for our Otego, NY office. Our hygienists work along side our doctors to help improve our patients' oral health through dental prophylaxis. This includes oral exam, history, taking x-rays, periodontal probing, scaling and root planing, polishing, flossing, and applying fluoride.

*Responsibilities:*

* Remove hard and soft deposits from teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease.
* Take and record dental histories and patient records and document areas of failure, both periodontally and restoratively to facilitate the dentist’s diagnosis and treatment recommendations
* Responsible for patient flow, keeping treatment rooms neat and organized
* Instruct and educate patients in oral hygiene, provide preventative dental care, take and develop X-rays, or apply fluoride or sealants

*Requirements: *

* Associate's Degree from ADA accredited dental hygienist school.
* Current state licensure
* Ability to project a positive, warm and professional image in person and on the phone
* Strong organizational and administrative skills – you see what needs to be done and do it
* Must be articulate and service-oriented and have great eye/hand coordination in order to provide the gentle and thorough hygiene care to our patients
* Experience with Dentrix Ascend is a plus

*Office Hours:*

Otego Office (Primary Location)

* Tuesday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
* Friday: 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Oneonta Office

* Monday–Wednesday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
* Thursday: 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM

The successful candidate will primarily work at the Otego Office, however may be asked to work at the Oneonta office in the event of staffing needs and will be compensated accordingly.

*Physical Work Conditions*

* Work indoors in a temperature-controlled office typically kept between 65°F and 70°F
* Wear protective clothing daily, including masks, safety glasses, and rubber gloves
* Standard dental clinical environment including exposure to dental instruments and X-ray equipment (protective gear provided)
* Work in close proximity to others
* Exposure to potentially uncomfortable noises, such as dental drills
* Occasional lifting of items up to 20lbs
* Both offices of Otego Family Dental are tobacco, smoke, and e-cigarette free including parking lots.
