Job Description:
When you join us, you’ll become a part of a nationally recognized health system dedicated to our mission of “helping people live the healthiest lives possible.”
About this role:
Intermountain Health is seeking an Academic Trauma Surgeon to join a team of experienced surgeons, APPs, and support staff to work at Intermountain Medical Center, a 504-bed ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center, and at LDS hospital, also in the Salt Lake Valley,. You can anticipate working as an equal member of multi-disciplinary teams supporting advanced therapies for complex trauma and critically ill patients. The Trauma Services provider team is currently made up of 8 physicians and 12 APPs.
In this role you can anticipate:
Practicing at .5 FTE clinically at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, a Level I Trauma Center with opportunities at other facilities within the greater Salt Lake Valley
- 24/7 trauma coverage; to include trauma floor coverage, emergency general surgery coverage, and shock trauma ICU coverage
- Weekday 10-14 hour day/night shifts, weekend 7-17 hour day/night shifts
- 1-3 restricted trauma night shifts per month and 1-3 unrestricted ACS night shifts per month
- Bed-side and tele-health trauma coverage while on shift

The Intermountain Trauma Research Program consists of a full-time PhD scientist, a full-time trauma research manager, and multiple site-specific trauma coordinators. Intermountain has a unified trauma registry, representing 3 Level I and 5 Level II trauma programs. Close to 20,000 patients are entered into this database annually. Intermountain favors collaborative research projects that span our enterprise and allow sharing of best practices and research-informed care processes. We are very proud of the program we have built, and the infrastructure allows the medical director and clinicians to focus on hypothesis generation and results interpretation, with many of the “pain points” of research shifted to the personnel in the program dedicated for those purposes.
This position includes a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for those who qualify.
Applicants with a sustained record of externally funded clinical, translational, or health-services research in trauma, acute care surgery, or related fields, are preferred.
How we'll support you:
