- PT - Physical Therapist - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV with the Texas Board of Examiners. Compact license acceptable according to current ECPTOTE requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Contributes to teamwork, consistently offering assistance, and responding positively to requests for assistance. Collaborates to foster healthy relationships in the work environment. Offers guidance to interprofessional health care team, when appropriate, and applies feedback to improve patient outcomes.
- Uses therapeutic communication, which includes active listening and teaching, to establish a relationship with patients, families and interprofessional health care team to collaborate on the plan of care. Partners with members of the interprofessional care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner.
- Teaches and provides guidance to nursing, and support staff. Orients new team members and assists with precepting students in clinical rotations and clinical fellows. Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards improvement of department score for employee engagement.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs complete and comprehensive evaluation of patients across a broad range of diagnosis and acuities to identify patient’s level of function and to determine the treatment plan. Develops the plan of care based on evaluation findings and implements the physical therapy treatment plan. Provides service to complex patient populations.
- Provides education to patients, patient’s family members, and/or caregivers, based on learning needs. Consistently evaluates the patient’s comprehension and adapts teaching methods accordingly. Serves as resource to clinical fellows and nursing in teaching best practices.
- Collaborates and communicates with the healthcare team modifications to patient’s treatment plan, progress, and discharge planning for achievement of identified patient specific goals. Advocates on patient/family’s behalf to identify and resolve clinical and ethical concerns, utilizing appropriate resources.
- Balances and adjusts as needed the caseload for the assigned team members to result in optimum patient care and outcome. Initiates improvements for department score on patient satisfaction, through peer-to-peer accountability to service standards.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assesses patients regularly, monitors progress towards treatment goals, modifies goals, and plan or program as indicated. Recognizes complications/limitations associated with certain procedures and proactively addresses such for optimum outcomes.
- Provides select oversight of physical therapy-related activities provided by interprofessional health care team, and if necessary, adjusts the plan to improve quality of outcome and maintain the safety of the patient.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for corrective action and assists in process improvement by providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Identifies areas of practice improvements with research-based evidence and assists in development of treatment protocols and best practice for certain population or practice area to achieve patient safety outcomes, supported by accurate documentation.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains accurate and complete documentation of patient education and procedures performed in a timely manner in the patient record. Enters accurate charges for services provided, as applicable.
- Uses resources efficiently to maximize utilization of time and equipment. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime, and prioritize daily tasks, assisting coworkers as needed. Meets labor productivity standards by effectively managing established patient load assignments
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Initiates innovative solutions through evidence-based practice/performance improvement projects. Actively participates in and may lead department projects and/or hospital committees. Participates in HM-related and approved hospital/community teaching opportunities, community services and/or functions.
- Identifies and presents areas for innovation, efficiency and improvement in patient care or unit operations using evidence-based practice literature. Assists higher level PTs with program development and/or clinical competencies.
- Seeks opportunities to identify self-development needs and expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development as a Physical Therapist, taking appropriate action. Ensures own career discussions occur with appropriate management. Completes and updates the My Development Plan on an on-going basis

4 Tower is a Hematology Oncology and Oncology ICU at Carolinas Medical Center. We have 30 beds, 8 of which are ICU capable. We care for patients with Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma, during initial diagnosis, chemotherapy administration, neutropenic fevers, and complications that result in hospital admission. In our ICU beds, we care for any oncology patient that needs a higher level of care, hematology, solid tumor, and post stem cell transplants. CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs registration/check-in processes, including but not limited to performing data entry activities, providing patients with appropriate information and intake forms, obtaining necessary signatures and generating population health summary.
2. Verifies insurance eligibility benefits for services rendered with the payors and documents appropriately. Assists in obtaining or validating pre-certification, referrals, and authorizations
3. Calculates and collects patient liability according to verification of insurance benefits and expected reimbursement. Explains and provides financial policies and available resources for alternative payment arrangements to patients and their families.
4. Enters payments/charges for services rendered and performs daily payment/charge reconciliation in a timely and accurate manner. Balances cash drawer at the beginning and end of the day and prepares daily bank deposit with necessary paperwork sent to centralized billing for record purposes.
5. Schedules office visits and procedures within the medical practice(s) and external practices as necessary. Maximizes reimbursement by scheduling patients in accordance with payor plan provisions. Confirms patient appointments for the following day as necessary and ensures patients are properly prepared for visits.
6. Demonstrates proactive interpersonal communications skills while dealing with patient concerns through telephone calls, emails and in-person conversations. Optimizes patient flow by using effective customer service/communication skills by communicating to internal and external customers, care team, management, centralized services and HIMS.
7. Assists in responding to requests for patient medical records according to company policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.
8. Provides a variety of patient services to assist in patient flow including but not limited to escorting patients, taking vitals and patient history, assisting in patient treatment, distributing mail and fax information, ordering supplies, etc.
9. Works independently under regular supervision and follows structured work routines. Job Summary
Specialty Care APPs provide concentrated services on a single system, caring for both acute and chronically ill patients. This Virtual Hospital Medicine position provides comprehensive inpatient care through virtual admissions, inpatient rounding, cross-coverage, and ongoing clinical management utilizing Advocate Health’s virtual care platform. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs or required to learn the following ancillary tests: fundus photos, disc photos, fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, optical coherence tomography, slit lamp, anterior segment, oculoplastic full face, external, etc.
Performs corneal endothelial specular microscopy when required.
Selects appropriate specialized colored filters for photographing patients requiring fluorescent dye. (performed by physician or other appropriately licensed health care professional).
Performs pre-operative intraocular lens measurements in preparation for cataract surgery using specialized equipment and techniques when required. (IOL Master and A Scan)
Completes appropriate documentation and scans printed photo images in patient’s record upon completion of procedure(s). Assists in the implementation of integration of systems (med record-photo) as required.
Monitor’s patient post-fluorescein angiography, reporting adverse reactions or problems to the appropriate health care professional.
Trains ancillary staff to perform optical coherence tomography, corneal topography, and visual fields.
Manages all imaging photo appointments by scheduling/rescheduling, greeting patients, monitoring the waiting room, and communicating delays to both patients and the healthcare team.
Works with the referral specialist to schedule all referred patients requiring photo appointments.
Reviews the nature of exam with patient to elicit cooperation and calm anxieties.
Maintains proficient utilization of Lifechart in-baskets to communicate with the healthcare team and patients.
Ensures cleanliness and aseptic condition of room and equipment.
Performs routine quality checks on equipment. Exercises proper care in the use of equipment and reports necessary repairs.
Monitor’s inventory levels to ensure availability of necessary supplies, equipment and instruments. Reports when stock is low. Ensures timely receipt of ordered materials.
Performs department quality assurance data checks per the department manager.
Acts as resource to health professionals regarding the procedures utilized to produce images.
Supports front office operations when necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Develops, and presents workshops to meet the educational needs of health care professionals in the Charlotte AHEC region.
- Analyzes participant evaluations and assessments and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Writes measurable program objectives for AHEC workshops. Designs and administers evaluations, analyzes evaluations and assessments and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Meets nationally recognized criteria for continuing education credit when designing workshops.
- Researches potential grant opportunities and assists with development of grant proposals.
- Collaborates in quality initiatives and grants.
- Assists with AHEC Library Initiatives.
- Participates in statewide applicable state AHEC Council and planning meetings.
- Provides planning and support to regional AHEC workshops and other AHEC initiatives.
Works in an office and classroom environment. Sight, hearing, and speech capabilities sufficient to communicate well with individuals and groups. Includes travel within Charlotte AHEC region and occasional statewide meetings.
