This job works to identify process improvement and cost savings opportunities related to improved product, service and process standardization, and utilization. Reviews and assesses applicable financial, clinical, operational, and evidence based literature. Assists in the selection, evaluation, monitoring, analysis, and implementation of cost-effective products, services and processes in the healthcare system. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with clinical, administrative, and healthcare system staff to ensure effective, results-oriented project outcomes. Education
Required - Registered Nurse Diploma
Preferred - BSN, MS or MBA
Work Experience
Required - 5 years nursing experience in a hospital setting, Experience working independently or as part of a team, Experience maintaining flexibility and functioning well under stress.
Certifications
Required- Current RN license in the state of practice
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Interpersonal skills; ability to act as a change agent by selling concepts and influencing various stakeholders (physicians, nurses, administration).
- Analytical skills; ability to identify variation, trends, and opportunities to reduce cost, eliminate waste and improve patient quality.
- Organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple work.
- Must have computer skills and proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to the role.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Job Duties
- Coordinates product, service and process related value analysis projects between administration, clinical, and healthcare system staff.
- Applies advanced knowledge and clinical expertise to identify products, services and processes that can be standardized, modified and/or eliminated to increase operating efficiency, reduce cost and/or improve patient quality.
- Interacts with all appropriate department managers to develop, coordinate and integrate cost management programs into departmental services by assisting with program development, data collection and analysis, implementation, monitoring and follow-up.
- Collaborates with departments to monitor and report on compliance of implemented changes in products, services and processes.
- Monitors and reports hospital/system-wide value analysis related cost reductions to Decision Support Director and Supply Chain System Vice President.
- Other related duties as required.

- Follows all current Joint Commission / CMS regulations pertaining to Environment of Care and Cleaning requirements.

This job answers internal/external calls for Security Operations, which average 2-3,000 transactions daily. Answers routine and emergency calls for security assistance while obtaining all necessary information required while dispatching security officers to calls for service as well as making notifications to on duty supervisors. This job delivers medications to designated areas under close supervision and according to detailed instructions, policies and procedures. This job refills and maintains automated dispensing machines; prices manual medication orders, inventories and reorders stock in the pharmacy; enters data into a computer system and prints labels as necessary; reviews physician's orders and enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system; identifies problems with orders and notifies pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information (i.e. allergies, height, weight) when needed; accurately compounds IV Admixtures and other assigned preparations utilizing aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures; maintains stock in all assigned areas including the IV room and other pharmacy areas; performs related clerical duties including typing, answering phone, filing and greeting nurses and physicians at the Pharmacy window.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
