Oversight of the clinical trials start-up process from receipt of protocols through the Scientific Review Committee and IRB submissions, and site activation activities.
Responsible for data reporting and management, collection of source documents, use and development of case report forms, adverse events reporting, filing, and archiving of study records, and resolution of data queries.
May prepare and or complete regulatory related reports and IRB submissions. Maintain and organize study participant/subject trial binder and regulatory binders, enter all required study data on an ongoing basis and as applicable.
Ensure all study related samples are collected, properly prepared, and shipped according to the protocol requirements and IATA/DOT regulations.
Collaborate with other departments such as Protocol Scheduling, Materials Management, the Clinical Research Laboratory, Pharmacy, Research Nursing, and other departments, as needed per the requirements of the clinical trial.
Responsible for organizing and preparing for both internal and external auditing and study monitoring visits.
Coordination and management of clinical trials throughout the trial life cycle, including communication with sponsors and regulatory authorities.
Close-out of clinical trials, including contributing to research articles, audit preparation, and communication with regulatory agencies and other disciplines involved.
Interact with study participants as directed/required by the protocol and/or study team.
May be responsible for tissue sample collection per trial requirements.
Responsible for data entry of Subject Visit Tracking information into Clinical Trial Management System contemporaneously with medical visits, assessments, and other subject-specific information.
Responsible for data entry of time and effort spent on study-specific activities and other administrative tasks into Clinical Trial Management System contemporaneously with work completed.
Responsible for data entry of study-specific activity, including but not limited to monitor visits, external site enrollment, amendments, receipt of Safety Reports, etc. into Clinical Trial Management System contemporaneously with activity completed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Excellent organization and communications skills required.
Strong interpersonal skills – ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and externals contacts.
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to follow-through.
Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload.
Must practice discretion and adhere to hospital confidentiality guidelines at all times.
Must have computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or 1 year of Dana-Farber Associate Clinical Research Coordinator experience required.
0-1 years of experience working in a medical or scientific research setting or comparable technology orientated business environment preferred.

As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and upholds the Mission, Vision, and Values of MercyOne.
Essential Functions:
1. Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
- Makes an initial assessment of new admissions within 30 minutes of the patient’s arrival to the unit.
- Completes all areas of the admission assessment database within 24 hours of admission.
2. Identifies patient problems and develops them into an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
- Initiates the patient problem list and incorporates relevant medical history into the plan of care.
- Analyzes and interprets the assessment data to identify desired patient outcomes/goals.
- Determines nursing interventions to achieve those outcomes/goals.
- Prioritizes patient care needs/ activities.
- Identifies and makes appropriate referrals (i.e., Patient/Family Services, Nutritional Services, Spiritual Care, Diabetic Educator, etc.), and education needs.
- Collaborates with other health care disciplines to plan interventions/ patient outcomes/goals.
3. Implements the outcome/goal- based plan of care.
- Assigns and coordinates patient care incorporating patient acuity and the skills, knowledge and abilities of the team members.
- Organizes and prioritizes care for the patients within the team.
- Delegates tasks appropriately to other team members.
- Implements the plan of care including procedures, treatments, physicians orders, nursing orders, education plan and medications.
- Coordinates implementation of plan of care with the Case Manager, Social Worker and other health care disciplines.
- Assists to decrease the patient’s length of stay by helping the patient and family identify and secure appropriate services to satisfy health-related needs upon discharge.
- Uses nursing judgment to determine the appropriate frequency and components of reassessment.
- Reassesses at regular intervals to determine patient response(s) to interventions (minimum RN reassessment every 24 hours).
- Focuses ongoing reassessment on actual and potential problems/needs of the patient including education and discharge needs.
- Participates in develop discharge plan.
- Documents discharge instructions for patient and/or significant other and/or other care provider.
4. Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal-based plan as needed.
- Evaluates patient response(s) to interventions.
- Review/modifies/revises the outcome-based plan of care based on ongoing reassessments.
- Updates the problem list and outcomes/goals.
5. Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals.
- Communicates relevant clinical information to physicians regarding the patient’s condition.
- Reports progress toward outcomes/goals and/or changes in condition to other health team members.
- Maintains ongoing communication with interdisciplinary team members throughout the shift, at shift change, and transfer of care.
- Communicates with other team leaders and members throughout the shift to reassess and prioritize the needs of the unit.
- Documents completely, comprehensively and legibly and in accordance with policy.
6. Demonstrates clinical competence.
- Utilizes Patient Care Policies and Procedure as references to guide nursing practice.
- Assures medication safety by following the “5 Rights” of medication administration.
- Prioritizes and implements intervention according to patient assessment.
- Demonstrates competency in computer systems and applications required for role.
- Receives, transcribes and processes and implements physician orders per policy including dating, timing and verifying accuracy.
- Maintains communication with the manager/house supervisor and staffing office regarding admissions, unit needs, acuity numbers and significant events.
- Completes assigned shift duties and assures resolution of discrepancies.
7. Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable.
- Demonstrates clinical competency and technical knowledge in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to cardiac arrhythmias and other changes in patient condition.
- Must be capable of managing multiple patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring.
- Provides appropriate interventions for patients experiencing cardiac events or changes in rhythm.
- May be required to assist with data collection and quality improvement initiatives.
- Must be willing to serve as a resource to other hospital services (nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, respiratory, etc.).
- May be asked to participate in unit-based committees and provide education to nursing staff as requested.
8. Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
9. Collects, analyzes, interprets and applies age-specific data.
- Performs tasks/procedures, uses equipment in an age-appropriate manner.
- Communicates and works with others in an age-appropriate manner.
10. Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
- Attends required safety programs.
- Appropriately and consistently uses the personal protective equipment required of the job.
- Knows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other emergency situations.
- Reports and removes unsafe equipment/furniture.
- Asks for assistance when needed to assure safety for all involved.
- Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.
11. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

- .9 FTE, 36 hours per week
- Night shift 7:00 pm - 7:30 am
- RNs work 12-hour shifts
- Rotating weekends and holidays
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in nursing required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Iowa RN license, (MercyOne Genesis - current Registered Nurse (RN) license in either Iowa or Illinois is required at the time of hire. A secondary RN license for the other state must be obtained within 12 months of the hire date.)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
- High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability.
- Basic computer skills required.

Position Summary
The Radiologic Technologist performs a full range of diagnostic imaging examinations in accordance with established departmental guidelines. This role utilizes fixed imaging equipment, portable radiography, and fluoroscopic systems to support, trauma imaging, operating room cases, and routine diagnostic exams. The Radiologic Technologist functions as a clinical role model and resource within the hospital, demonstrating the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a broad range of diagnostic radiology exams using fixed, portable, and fluoroscopic imaging equipment
- May support trauma imaging, operating room cases, as well as routine diagnostic studies

Follow practice, clinic, and office workflow protocols to maximize quality, efficiency, and patient experience.
Perform pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient records prior to appointments, including recent test results, consultations, correspondence, and other relevant information. Determine needed services based on established practice protocols and communicate point-of-care reminders to providers through the electronic medical record (EMR).
Greet patients, perform registration and check-in functions, answer phones, schedule appointments, obtain referrals and authorizations, process forms, and complete the patient discharge process.
Support the patient financial process by ensuring co-payments, deductibles, and self-pay balances are collected and properly processed at the time of service.
Verify that all required patient information is complete and accurate, including demographics, referrals, authorizations, billing codes, and diagnosis information.
Provide clerical and administrative support for the practice.
Orient and serve as a resource to new employees regarding department policies, procedures, and workflows.
Prepare patients for examinations and treatments according to clinic-specific workflow protocols, including escorting patients from the waiting area to the examination room.
Obtain and document vital signs, weight, chief complaint, medication reconciliation, medical history, and other required information in the patient’s medical record.
Document patient health concerns and pain scores in the EMR and complete required patient questionnaires.
Promote efficient patient flow throughout the practice, clinic, and office.
Review health maintenance and chronic illness services and perform or order appropriate services according to established protocols and standing orders.
Perform point-of-care testing and other clinical procedures, including blood pressure, EKGs, pulse oximetry, hemoglobin A1C, glucose testing, urinalysis, urine pregnancy testing, rapid strep testing, and other approved tests.
Accurately document allergies, medications, medical history, surgical history, and family history in the patient record.
Initiate pharmacy benefits verification as required.
Assist providers with physical examinations and perform procedures using aseptic technique and established standards.
Administer vaccines and place PPDs in accordance with practice and clinic protocols.
Complete appropriate post-visit follow-up, including ensuring blood and other specimens are properly labeled, documented, and sent to the laboratory.
Follow up on laboratory results to ensure they are entered into the medical record. Track orders and results, contact patients regarding laboratory and order reminders, and update the EMR with current status.
Report abnormal laboratory results to the physician or nurse immediately.
Follow up on specialty referrals and other services, track consultation reports, and ensure the EMR is updated accordingly. Contact patients regarding referral outreach and reminders.
Monitor prescription refill requests and follow up as needed.
Ensure examination rooms are cleaned between patients and properly prepared for the next appointment.
Explain programs, procedures, and appropriate preparation for tests and examinations. Educate patients regarding coordination of care and appropriate use of emergency department services when seeking care. Document identified barriers to care.
Schedule tests and follow-up appointments and pre-register patients for subsequent visits. Verify demographic and insurance information and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
Monitor and order medical supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
Clean and maintain medical equipment and promptly report broken, missing, or malfunctioning equipment to management.
Ensure examination rooms are properly prepared for each patient.
Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies and remove and report expired items to Practice or Clinic Management.
Assist with administrative office duties, including mailing patient reminders and other correspondence.
Manage time effectively and use slower periods to complete activities that prepare the practice for future needs.
Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards in accordance with established hospital and department policies, procedures, and objectives.

We are seeking an Oncology Infusion Pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate, and effective preparation, verification, and dispensing of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic, and supportive care medications for oncology patients. Key Responsibilities
Review, verify, and prepare chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care, and infusion medications in accordance with oncology protocols, USP standards, and state/federal regulations.
Evaluate medication orders for appropriate dosing, treatment regimens, organ function, laboratory values, allergies, drug interactions, and protocol compliance.
Verify chemotherapy calculations based on patient-specific parameters including diagnosis, body surface area (BSA), weight, and laboratory results.
Supervise and support pharmacy technicians involved in sterile compounding and medication preparation to ensure accuracy and quality.
Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related issues and optimize treatment plans.
Monitor for adverse drug reactions, toxicities, and therapy-related complications and communicate recommendations to the care team.
Provide drug information and education regarding oncology therapies, treatment protocols, supportive care medications, and infusion administration requirements.
Maintain compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, hazardous drug handling standards, and controlled substance regulations.

Qualifications

- Daily, provides ongoing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) care for entire hospital inpatient census, through screening, prioritizing, assessing, and recommending interventions. Adapts daily workflow to accommodate fluctuations in patient load due to daily census variations, consults, acuity, staffing challenges. Develops and implements a plan of care for patients based on an expert assessment of life cycle- and diagnosis-specific nutritional needs. Assessment includes reviews of medical history and laboratory data, patient interviews, and physical examinations to determine the current nutritional status of inpatients and/or outpatients. Based on the assessment, the Clinical Dietitian develops and implements individualized nutrition plan of care interventions. Documents medical nutrition therapy plan of care in the electronic medical record supporting system clinical documentation and coding standards to maximize reimbursement rates.
- Prescribes enteral and parenteral nutrition support orders by assessing the patient and calculating macronutrients and/or micronutrients, fluid, and electrolytes. Evaluates patient tolerance and effectiveness of formulas and manages initiation or modifications to enteral/parenteral regimen orders. The Clinical Dietitian demonstrates extensive knowledge of specialized nutrition support (parenteral and enteral) and triages issues and concerns through collaboration with physicians and pharmacy. Constant, secure communication with system level Pharmacy Integrated Clinical Services (PICS) team to manage and order Total Parental Nutrition (TPN) infusions for critically ill patients in the hospital.
- The Clinical Dietitian prescribes orders for therapeutic diets, oral nutrition supplements, and nutrition support regimens, including vitamins/minerals, fluid management, and lab work as indicated within the scope of the Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) protocol. Utilizes order-writing privileges to implement nutrition related orders. Collaborates with Food and Nutrition patient services team to ensure patient intake aligns with nutrition prescription and interdisciplinary plan of care. Partners with site patient services team to identify and recommend appropriate clinical nutrition formula and supplement substitutions during supply chain disruptions to reduce and eliminate significant disruptions to patient care. Partners with physicians, nursing, and nutrition patient services to ensure diet restrictions, allergy restrictions, supplement preferences and tube feedings are consistent with patient needs and personal, religious, and cultural preferences. Develops patient-specific menus for patients admitted with complex dietary needs (e.g., multiple food allergies, numerous diet restrictions, and/or low-use, high risk diet orders).
- Leads efforts to identify, treat and prevent malnutrition. Performs Nutrition Focused Physical Examinations of high-risk patients to evaluate the loss of specific muscles and subcutaneous body fat to determine the presence of and degree of malnutrition. Communicates findings to the medical team through medical record documentation to ensure maximized reimbursement. Provides medical nutrition therapy education to patients identified with moderate or severe malnutrition to improve patient outcomes and to positively impact inpatient readmission rates.
- Routinely documents elements of the Global Malnutrition Composite Score (GMCS) for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Nutrition Electronic Quality Indicators. Participates in Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts to ensure nutrition care is safe and effective for patients. Maintains regulatory readiness. Supports department clinical initiatives to ensure compliance with safety initiatives, policies, and procedures, DNV regulations, and department standards.
- Identifies and documents billable nutrition diagnosis with supporting documentation. May provide clinical support to various hospital-based outpatient medical destination programs (e.g., cancer center, transplant clinic, digestive health programs, bariatric, cardiac rehab, heart failure, etc.) Enters charges for outpatient nutrition charge capture in electronic medical record.
- Supports partnerships with local didactic programs by precepting dietetic graduate students in clinical nutrition and/or foodservice management. Directs and monitors interns’ progress both daily and at designated touchpoints and provides feedback for growth and development. Communicates regularly with didactic program coordinator. Also, precepts medical residents and provides nutrition orientation as applicable. Provides nutrition lectures to medical residents for internal medicine, trauma, NICU/Peds, and family practice, as applicable.
- Collaborates routinely with discharge planners, home health, physicians, pharmacy, and other interdisciplinary teams to address the full scope of the system-established priority points protocol for inpatient care. Participates in interdisciplinary team rounds, meetings, and care conferences to coordinate and collaborate on nutrition goals. Assists with transition to home or outside facilities by partnering with Care Management and/or Home Health to coordinate home enteral and/or parenteral nutrition needs.
- Provides medical nutrition therapy education to patients on prescribed diet, per established priority system, to improve patient knowledge/understanding of nutrition, diet therapy and compliance on prescribed diet. Education is provided to inpatients, outpatients and family members through individual counseling and classes. May provide nutrition in-services to teammates, as applicable.
- Provides clinical input into system clinical nutrition initiatives and practice changes. Participates in system subgroups/projects, as assigned, to develop and implement evidence-based nutrition practices, clinical initiatives and/or practice changes. Partners with system patient services and clinical teams to deploy system changes and updates regarding CBORD, EPIC, menus, emergency preparedness, downtime processes, formulary, clinical procedures, and policies. Liaisons between clinical nutrition and inpatient nursing and physicians to champion system clinical nutrition initiatives (e.g., new dysphagia standards, malnutrition coding practice changes, enteral nutrition equipment changes, malnutrition nurse screening changes, safety protocol changes, etc.) Assists (via in-person or remote coverage) other sites throughout the State, as needed, to provide clinical nutrition coverage to assure equitable patient care.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required
- Dietitian certification issued by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Dietitian (RD) registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Licensure by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IL only)
- Certification by the Department of Safety and Professional Services (WI only)
Education Required
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree (if CDR registration eligibility is obtained prior to January 1, 2024) or Minimum of Graduate Degree (master’s, practice doctorate, or doctoral) (if initial CDR registration is obtained on or after January 1, 2024)
- Successful completion of Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited supervised practice program.
Experience Required:
Didactic experience in clinical nutrition from an ACEND approved program.
