Responsible for daily front line supervision of all pharmacy department operations. In conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy, maintains and coordinates systems to ensure that pharmacy operations run effectively on a day-to-day basis.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Must possess current license as required by state board where services will be provided:
WV: Valid Pharmacist license through the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy
PA: Valid Pharmacist license through the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years of previous hospital-based pharmacist experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support/Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire date
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Hospital Pharmacy setting and/or 1 year Pharmacy leadership experience

3. Values based care recognizes the importance of quality customer services (Service Excellence Standards) to patients and employees
4. Oversees daily delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients of the hospital
5. Identifies operational problems and opportunities for improvement and takes appropriate actions on both
6. Ensures controlled substances are purchased, distributed, and documented in compliance with state and federal laws
7. Ensures drug storage locations are maintained in an appropriate manner (e.g., floor stock, automated dispensing systems, surgery carts, emergency carts, crash carts, etc.)
8. Ensures drug items are appropriately billed to various areas or patients to promote financial viability of the hospital
9. Ensures pharmacy inventory is maintained at appropriate levels in a cost-conscious manner to promote availability of items in the Formulary
10. Participates in and/or provides support to hospital committees as agreed upon by committee members and the Director of Pharmacy
11. Participates in departmental and hospital performance improvement activities to promote quality in the medication use process
12. Assists department and hospital in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards
13. Assists in presenting medical, nursing, or department in-service programs
14. Performs duties of Staff or Clinical Pharmacist, as required
15. Supervises Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Interns; other management and support staff as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy
16. Reviews unit inspections and verifies these are completed monthly. Informs Director of compliance issues
17. Assures completion of new hire and annual competencies for all employees in the department
18. Monitors and documents staff performance. Assists Director with Staff performance appraisals
19. Assumes the duty of developing, implementing and oversight of the Departmental staffing schedule
20. Performs other duties as otherwise assigned by Director of Pharmacy
For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements:
1. Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.

Purpose:
Responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for inpatients within Genesis Medical Centers. Serves as a leader for the department, organizing appropriate departmental initiatives and providing education and teaching for pharmacy colleagues, providers and trainees at all levels of practice. Has a working knowledge of the operational aspects of the department and will contribute to the overall objectives of the department as an integrated member of the pharmacy practice team. Works cooperatively with pharmacy management to maintain daily workflow, identify additional duties or change of duties that
would enhance pharmacy operation and supports the direction and achievement of the pharmacy.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The job requires some accountability for scheduling, assigning or coordinating work. Employees check the quality of work and provide guidance, instruction, training and direction to others. Although the job does not require formal or official supervisory responsibility, the incumbent serves as group leader or acts in an informal "assistant supervisory" or "lead" role. In addition, the employee may be expected to provide information or suggestions on human resources matters.
Materials Responsibility:
Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Field of Study: Pharmacy
- Special Training: Satisfactory completion of ASHP (Accredited Residency in Hospital Pharmacy Practice)
- Training Preferred: Clinical pharmacy practice setting experience; or specialized residency and/or board certification in Pharmacotherapy or other specialized field; PharmD preferred; Certification with diabetes mellitus management
- Licensures/Registration: Registered Pharmacist in Iowa. Pharmacist applicants obtaining their initial licensure must obtain their Iowa Pharmacist Registration within 6 months of hire. Those applicants registered in another state must obtain their Iowa Pharmacist Registration within 6 months
- Experience: More than 3 years' experience required

Position Highlights
- Retail environment filling prescriptions, answering phone calls, setting up mail, and assisting the family of patients.
- Pharmacy hours are 7:00am to 11:00pm.
- Preferred availability: Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00am - 9:00pm, periodic weekends preferred.
- Minimum 2 days per week, offering at least 6 hours per day.
- Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered.
- Previous fast paced pharmacy experience is preferred.
- No drive thru, vaccine metrics, or working solo in this position.

CORE FUNCTIONS

The Pharmacy Technician demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The position participates in many procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or technician supervisor and is an integral part of the pharmacy team. This position is for a sterile compounding pharmacy technician located at Intermountain Medical Center in the infusion clinic pharmacy. The shifts will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30am-6pm. No weekends, no major holidays (with the exception of Christmas Eve occasionally).
Essential Functions
- Assists with all phases of pharmacy services while under the supervision of a pharmacist as required by state of practice and job duties.
- Answers phones and provides excellent customer service as appropriate to practice site.
- Assists the pharmacist in collecting clinical and other patient information and maintaining appropriate records as required by regulation and policy.

The Pharmacy Technician demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care.
