Radiologic Technologist - Weekend OptionBell Hospital

Position Summary / Career Interest:

Shift: Weekend Option - Sat. - Sun. - 8am - 8:30pm
The Weekend Radiologic Technologist performs x-ray procedures to produce images for the purpose of diagnosing disease processes. Procedures can be performed at various locations throughout the Main Campus and at hospital associated imaging facilities. Competence is required for both fixed and mobile x-ray devices. Experience is required in high acuity areas, surgical areas and less acute out-patient customers. Radiologic Technologists are expected to participate in the training of student technologists. This role requires a minimum of a 12 month commitment and requires completion of an orientation training programResponsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• "Must be competent in the use of all x-ray equipment both fixed and mobile.   Has the ability to provide this service throughout the department. Show interest and initiative in assuring that personal competency requirements are met.
• Demonstrates flexibility in reviewing new approaches in response to changing organizational and healthcare needs
• Seeks out assistance appropriately in regard to policies and procedures, patient safety, infection control and other departmental and organizational requirements. Understands, supports and practices current rules/regulations/practices both state and nationally
• Ensures that a high priority is recognized and observed by all staff relating to safety; this includes employees, patients, vendors and other customers;
• Ensures that patients are treated in a timely fashion and that patient satisfaction requires technologist participation in the transport process.
• Provides input to Radiology Physician leadership in regard to interactions that provide “World Class” care in a teaching facility.  Interacts with all hospital customers to assist with patient and customer satisfaction and HCAPS scores.  Participates and assists radiology leadership in the collection of information related to process improvement.
• Should be observed as a department resource by all staff and assist in providing continuing education to all responsible individuals; Serves as a role model.  Ensures communication is consistent, provided in multiple forms and is effective
• Is responsible for reporting information to Radiology leadership in regard to potential hazards, safety, and or behavioral demonstrations that do not provide for a safe and “world class” healthcare environment.
• Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments as provided by Team Leaders, Supervisor or Assistant Director.

Cancer Registrar SeniorRemote

Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Cancer Registrar Senior is responsible for identifying applicable reportable cases for abstracting entry according to governing cancer registry bodies, including national and central registry requirements. This position performs audits on quality assurance/performance improvement. The Senior Registrar tracks and trends for the 10% required reviews for analytic cases.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Identifies applicable reportable cases (case finding) for abstract entry according to governing cancer registry bodies, including national and central registry requirements.
• Abstracts all analytic and non-analytic cases according to the Commission on Cancer standards.
• Performs follow-up review annually on all active patients.
• Interacts with patients and their designated contacts in a discrete and professional manner.
• Handles all office interactions effectively and courteously. Shares information only as appropriate with other organizations as needed to fall within treatment, payment and operations that lie within HIPAA regulations.
• Maintains work records and policies and procedures.
• Meets the quality, performance and production standards defined by the department.
• Edits should be run within software to assure quality is met and all required fields have been populated.
• Performs ongoing quality assurance/performance improvement auditing, tracking, and trending for the 10% required review of analytic cases, including the correction process by the physician.
• Works in tandem with physicians (often Cancer Committee members) to assure that quality standards are met. Is the “Gatekeeper” for Case finding, distributing cases as one registrar completes and needs additional cases.
• Edits the Missouri and Kansas edits monthly, assuring NCDB edits are completed accurately and timely.
• Runs the Infoview Reports of staged cases per quarter, including all staged cases and staged breast cases, and helps maintain calculations/formulas in the QA review spreadsheet.
• Notifies the Manager and Supervisor via email of quarterly cases staged for Cancer Committee. Coordinates and tracks RQRS/CP3R studies issued by the Commission on Cancer reporting weekly progress to the Cancer Registry staff and quarterly progress to the Cancer Committee.
• Assures cases are submitted timely and accurately.
• Contacts physician offices when treatment is not available in Medical Record to assure if treatment was administered.
• Tracks attendance at cancer conferences and maintains the required grid for reporting compliance to the Cancer Committee.

The University of Kansas Health System Phlebotomist is a position within the clinical laboratory that is responsible for interpreting orders for lab work from providers within The University of Kansas Health System which are entered in the Hospital Information System and orders from outside providers that are presented as a manual order. The Phlebotomist must be able to interpret these orders and accurately identify the correct tube type for each test.

The Phlebotomist follows regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures, and performs positive patient identification for each patient prior to blood draw and confirming patient identification after labeling the tubes. In the ambulatory setting, the Phlebotomist presents labeled tubes to the patient to confirm proper labeling. In the in-patient setting, the Phlebotomist matches the labeled tubes with the patient's wristband.

The Phlebotomist understands the importance of all pre-analytical variables such as positive patient identification, correct tube types, specimen conditions and integrity and how they affect laboratory results, and participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities. The Phlebotomist releases orders out of the Hospital Information System (HIS) and receives specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS); and processes specimens to include centrifugation, aliquoting urine and pouring off plasma or serum if necessary for testing.

The Phlebotomist is considered the "face" of the clinical laboratory and is expected to represent the laboratory and themselves in a professional, respectful and courteous manner at all times. The Phlebotomist follows AIDET guidelines for customer service and patient satisfaction.

Additionally, the Phlebotomist working in the ambulatory setting must prepare specimens for transport by scanning the bar-coded sample onto a LIS packing list. The Phlebotomist must be able to troubleshoot difficult orders and assist with troubleshooting missing specimens when indicated. This position performs some data entry functions, manages requisitions and answers telephones to assist Laboratory customers. The Phlebotomist must be patient focused and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Performs blood draws by venipuncture according to standard protocol, ensuring patient safety and quality specimen collection.

• Responds to telephone inquiries and provides customer service to the end caller by addressing their needs and troubleshooting.

• Coordinates and manages daily activities of the Office of Rural Residency
• Assists rural training sites in determining and addressing gaps in site readiness to support resident training
• Assists with the submission and processing of invoices related to RHTP reimbursable expenses/activities
• Assists GME program administration with the preparation and submission of materials to support rural expansion of GME programs
• In conjunction with GME and rural health leaders assist in the development of strategies to support the growth and sustainability of rural residency expansion
• Serve as a liaison between rural training sites and GME program administration
• Assist programs in organizing resident housing during rural rotations
• Assist in data collection of rural resident placement for longitudinal data on workforce impact of rural expansion
• Assist in collaboration with State programs to analyze medical workforce needs for future residency expansion
• Assist in organizing and collaborating with leaders of the APP rural training program
• This position is grant-funded and is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in business, health administration, education or related/applicable field from an accredited college or university OR
• 4 years of relevant post-secondary education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (experience used to substitute for degree requirements may not be used to meet other work experience requirements.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Master's Degree

Preferred Licensure and Certification

• C-TAGME (Certified Training Administrator of Graduate Medical Education) within 1 Year

Knowledge Requirements

• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Advanced program and project management skills
• Advanced communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal)
• Ability to work effectively with Residency Program Coordinators, physicians, hospital administrators, and staff

Position Summary / Career Interest:

4 days 6:30am - 5pm

The Medical Lab Scientist provides comprehensive laboratory testing for patients. The position consists of ensuring patients' laboratory results are accurate, timely and with quality.  Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results in a timely manner according to laboratory policy.
• Calibrates, maintains, operates and troubleshoots instrumentation issues and completes appropriate documentation.
• Completes continuing education and submits appropriate documentation where applicable.
• Follows regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
• Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees, residents, patients and other health care providers as applicable.
• Maintains an adequate inventory of all supplies. Accurately prepares, labels and stores reagents, standards, controls and specimens for analysis.
• Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable.
• Reviews and correlates results of laboratory tests to each other and with the patient's condition, recognizing abnormal results and critical/alert values. Verifies accuracy of results and initiates corrective action when indicated.
• The employee may be required to float to other locations throughout the organization.
• Performs product preparations in compliance with FDA, cGMP, AABB standards and blood bank department procedures, if applicable.
• Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary to perform job duties safely and minimize risk.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science Biological, Physical, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology from an accredited institution
• High School Graduate

Required Licensure and Certification

• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP) , AMT or equivalent or eligible (must be completed within 6 months of hire) within 180 Days

Knowledge Requirements

• Meets the CLIA requirements for high complexity testing.
