Position Title
Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Access Specialist is an integral member of the Office of Access Management who is responsible for partnering with ambulatory practices to help achieve the goal of improved patient access to needed services within the health system. The Access Specialist is a liaison for the practice; gathers and compiles information and reports from multiple systems and departments, identifies access barriers and partners with the practice on improvement solutions by reviewing the performance against target conditions and develops recommendations.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for the initial build and maintenance of physician schedule templates within the EHR by working with template builders and appropriate staff.
- Ensures adherence to template standards as developed by the Office of Access Management.
- Works with individual practices to process and manage requests for schedule changes.
- Obtains and compiles data for the Office of Access Mgmt. working with multiple different departments across the health system (including Ambulatory Operations, HITS, Revenue Cycle, Telecom, Analytics & Reporting).
- Reviews dashboards, analyzes data, pulls preset reports or navigates within the system (such as appointment turnaround time, MyChart and internet appointment requests) on a regular basis to identify divergence of access and targets or identifies problems with capacity management.
- Regulates appropriate use of decision tree algorithms, scheduling policies and procedures, including regulating automated call distribution system and appointment phone numbers/scripting.
- Recommends improvements and provides feedback to appropriate entities and partners including specialties,
- Access Office leadership or others as appropriate to resolve issues or concerns.
- Implements best practices based on leadership guidance and in collaboration with team.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate with 7 or more years of of healthcare clinic operations with familiarity with EHR scheduling workflows and/or revenue cycle experience that included knowledge of operational scheduling strategies, clinic throughout and performance improvement OR
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited College or University with 3 or more years of healthcare clinic operations with familiarity with EHR scheduling workflows and/or revenue cycle experience that included knowledge of operational scheduling strategies, clinic throughout and performance improvement.
Knowledge Requirements
- Strong computer skills.
- EPIC Cadence preferred.
- EpicCare Ambulatory preferred.
- Prelude or other certifications relating to the Ambulatory environment is preferred.

Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Surgical Technologist, under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the Nurse Manager, handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the surgical procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the surgical procedure and is maintains constant vigilance of the sterile field.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions- Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures. Ensures surgical equipment is functioning properly and safely. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment using sterile technique.
- Provides surgical assistance. Places sterile drapes on the patient to establish the sterile operating field. Participates in the time-out process to verify the correct patient, procedure, and surgical site. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team based on knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology and how they relate to the surgical patient and the patient's surgical procedure. Prepares and passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon. Sponges and suctions the surgical site to provide clear visibility. Prepares and cuts suture material as directed by the surgeon. Prepares and utilizes irrigation solutions during surgery as directed by the surgeon. Prepares and passes medications and hemostatic agents utilized during a surgical procedure (excluding drug administration). Prepares and passes off specimens as appropriate. Holds retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon. Applies electrocautery to clamps or forceps on bleeding vessels as directed by the surgeon. Operates the camera during endoscopic procedures as directed by the surgeon. Places instruments into robotic arms during a surgical procedure as directed by the surgeon. Connects drains to suction apparatus. Performs counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and supplies with a registered nurse circulator.
- Provides patient care. Prepares and applies sterile dressings to closed wounds. Assists with transferring and positioning the patient on the operating table.
- Maintains sterility and safety. Identifies and corrects breaks in the sterile operating field. Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique.
- Takes responsibility for self and/or team accountabilities and instills sense of ownership in others to improve performance; looks for ways to improve individual and/or team performance.

The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for Inpatient/ Outpatient registrations for the Health System. Obtains proper patient identification, demographics and financial information to adequately register and secure the patient encounter. Responsible for POS collections as required. Maintains a constant focus on providing excellent customer service to patients/ families and a professional image.Note: Schedule and hours needed are during the week 8:00am-3:00pm and weekend 6:45pm-7:15am
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Monitors schedule daily for patients arriving at the department for the day if applicable.
- Responsible for admitting/registering scheduled and non-scheduled or emergent patients for the assigned department.
- Conducts bedside admission on patients who are direct admits to the unit as needed.
- Obtains identification to assure accuracy of demographic and insurance information. Enter information in computer system with correct spelling of patient name and diagnosis, date of birth, social security number, employer, guarantor and correct medical record number.
- Greets patient and/or relative. Interviews and obtains or rechecks pertinent information.
- As required, collects co-payments or deposits as appropriate for service being rendered.
- Responsible to balance cash drawer as part of the end of the day process.
- Explains facility policies and ensures patient and/or relative understands and signs the consent for treatment, and insurance forms at the appropriate time. Clear and accurate documentation should be entered on the appropriate forms and keyed into the computer system.
- Complies with Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance rules and regulations.
- Completes MSPQ as required for admission.
- Attends and participates in staff training or education which relates to their position and would contribute to their knowledge.
- Responsible for the inventory and release of patient valuables placed in the safe following all requirements as described in the department policy as needed.
- Provide coverage as requested in all areas of Admitting following established guidelines.
- Knowledgeable of administrative policies, department procedures, third party coverage and required admission and insurance documents.
- Responsible for other duties or projects, which are assigned by Management. These may include special projects, telephone coverage, filing, scanning, copying and other duties as instructed.

The Patient Scheduling Specialist in call center location monitors incoming call volume throughout the day and assigns staff accordingly to various scheduling duties. Specialist may also function as an associate/representative as needed.
Patient Scheduling Specialist located in Clinic locations are responsible for creating a seamless experience by coordinating and scheduling appointments for patients; including imaging, laboratory, clinic, infusion, treatment, and/or procedures. The Specialist is an important member of the physician's care team and critical in creating a pleasant patient experience within an ambulatory clinic.
Position may provide support for front desk operations including greeting and checking in customers and visitors, answering calls, copay collection, completing MyChart and EMR appointment requests, processing external medical records and helping the physician care team prepare for their daily appointments.
This team member has demonstrated their ability to manage the most advanced scheduling and rescheduling workflows in the clinic. This position may be an escalation point for lower level schedulers. This position may also be required to leverage additional scheduling systems to coordinate schedules for patient care.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Responds to a high-volume of incoming telephone calls. Responsible for accurate scheduling/re-scheduling/cancellations of patient visits; including clinic appointments (in person and telehealth), treatments such as (chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgeries, procedures and/or ancillary services) using extensive knowledge of appointment types, locations, providers and specialties. The specialist will be responsible for more complex disciplines (GI, Multi-Discipline Clinics, Study Patients, etc.)
- Responsible for registration of patient during the scheduling process, including entering demographics, insurance verification, completing the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ), scanning and document preparation, updating documentation and processing of referrals/order/appointment requests.Verifies referring physician orders against scheduled appointments for accuracy.
- The Patient Scheduling Specialist delivers expert knowledge and understanding of scheduling guidelines, patient registration, pre-certification requirements and basic levels of health insurance and billing procedures and regarding specific processes. Familiarity with insurance coverage types (HMO, PPO, VA, Medicare) The speciaist role models the health system values in all dialy interactions and inspire others to follow those estabslished values.
- Diligently and efficiently manages scheduling workload from assigned Appointment Request Workqueue (WQ), filters and prioritizes appointment requests per specialty standards keeping close communication with the providers and clinical team members to verify any change requests and ensure continuity of care.
- Is proficient, accurate and demonstrates attention to detail in all aspects of the job which includes scheduling, order entry and scanning capabilities, as well as coordination of all aspects of anesthesia studies.
- Communicate with Financial Advisor when the patient has concerns/questions about financial responsibility for appointments /treatments/procedures scheduled. Direct patients to call insurance provider for copay or benefits information or transfer callers to Financial Advisor for specific payment inquiries, including self pay plans.
- Trains new employees on department, POD, and clinic-specific operational protocols and workflows using approved materials and approaches.Uses training delivery methods per the curriculum plan including classroom content, on-the-job, and interactive hands- on exercises. Evaluates trainee progress using provided assessment tools. Provides feedback to management on trainee's progress.

Join our growing Cancer Care team! We currently have a full time position at our Liberty campus. This is for a day shift opportunity with limited weekend coverage.
Pharmacy technicians will perform sterile compounding in state-of-the-art clean rooms using training that we provide to ensure medications are safe and accurate. Most of a Pharmacy Technician’s day in the Cancer Center will be spent performing sterile compounding of cancer medications in our clean rooms. In addition, Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for daily cleaning of the
sterile compounding areas, stocking supplies, calibrating equipment, scanning orders into the electronic medical record (EPIC) to ensure accuracy, placing and receiving drug orders and stocking automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell). Join our growing Cancer Care team! We currently have a full time position at our Olathe campus. This is for a day shift opportunity with limited weekend coverage.
Pharmacy technicians will perform sterile compounding in state-of-the-art clean rooms using training that we provide to ensure medications are safe and accurate. Most of a Pharmacy Technician’s day in the Cancer Center will be spent performing sterile compounding of cancer medications in our clean rooms. In addition, Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for daily cleaning of the sterile compounding areas, stocking supplies, calibrating equipment, scanning orders into the electronic medical record (EPIC) to ensure accuracy, placing and receiving drug orders and stocking automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell). Pharmacy technicians use critical thinking and problem solving to prepare complex chemotherapy and other medications.
