Job Description:
- Provides enhanced patient care under the direction of the licensed nurse.
- Documents in the appropriate sections to create a complete and accurate medical record.
- Identifies, observes, and documents the physical needs of the patient according to established standards. Reports any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure, according to physician order.
- Provides for or assists patients with activities of daily living and fulfills designated and delegated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care. Includes patient hygiene and changing linens.
- Provides one to one patient safety watch as assigned following established policies and procedures.
- Accurately processes specimens and provides timely transport of the specimen to the laboratory.
- Performs point of care patient testing and point of care instrument maintenance and quality control.
- Assists in problem solving, trouble shooting and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Serves as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students in a positive manner.
- Performs clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths according to standards and facilitates patient throughput activities. Transcribes and processes orders according to unit standard.
- Releases and confirms ordered tests to appropriate departments.
- Coordinate's transportation of patients to multiple tests.
- Participates in obtaining and communicating electronic information as pertinent to the nursing unit. Schedules tests, faxes consult, etc.
- Assists in ordering supplies. Stationery items as well as floor stock, patient needs, individual nursing supplies.
- Communicates with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
- Operates, problem solves, and takes corrective measures for clerical equipment. To include scheduling maintenance of computers, fax machines, phones, etc.
- Staff have access to non-controlled medications storage and supply areas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needs of the clinic or unit.
- Assists with transporting non-controlled medications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit as needed.
- Assists with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank as needed.
- Discharge follow up phone calls / coordinating virtual discharge appointment team.
- Support / Assist staff with 5 min Drills and/or Quality Rounds - participate in regulatory readiness as needed.

Position Details:
NICU Neonatal Intensive Care
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts weekly including Day/Night hours (7:00am - 7:30pm/7:00pm-7:30am) and every other weekend and holiday requirements.
Required Orientation: At the start of employment, a two-week classroom orientation is required with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
No experience needed. Comprehensive on the job training provided.

Work Experience

Essential Functions

The Cardiac Device Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, coordinating, planning, implementation and evaluating care of patients who have had Cardiac Devices implanted for treatment or diagnosis of cardiac related rhythms. The Cardiac Device Nurse coordinates the interrogation, programming, and triaging of implanted devices’ data, acquired during in-clinic visits or through remote transmissions. The role also serves to educate patients, providers, and other clinical staff on the utility of implantable devices, the intricacies of device functionality and data, and the role these devices play in the management of arrhythmia patients.
Position Details:
- Monday - Friday, Four 10-hour shifts. Day off in the week will be based on clinic needs.
- No nights, holidays, or weekends.
- Main clinic at Utah Valley, with growth some expectation of travel to other clinics: Spanish Fork, American Fork, and Sevier Valley.
Job Essentials
- Interrogating implanted devices, monitoring and documenting patients’ response to therapy or changes in device settings, programming adjustments per physician's order, Addressing and prioritizing remote transmissions and alert management, including troubleshooting devices.
- Maintain Device Clinic Database: Responsible for all aspects of the clinic database.
- Respond to patient needs: provide patient education regarding devices and respond to calls for device related issues from patients, providers, and vendors.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Responsible for the day to day operations of the trauma program. Evaluates trauma services across the care continuum in collaboration with the trauma medical director and organizational leaders.
2. Maintains current knowledge of national accreditation/state regulatory requirements, provides oversight of the program, and evaluates compliance, including all related components along the continuum of care. Represents the department at management/leadership meetings and at local/regional trauma related meetings.
3. Maintains a trauma specific quality program that effectively improves clinical care, processes, and systems related to the injured patient and is aligned with service line expectations and national standards. Coordinates relevant committee meetings and ensures documentation is complete and maintained.
4. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members across the continuum of care to address quality of care, program development, and opportunities for improvement.
5. Contributes to the oversight of data processes, from collection to validation to reporting. Develops an understanding of inclusion criteria, applicable injury scoring systems, data definitions, and benchmarking programs such as NTDB/TQIP as applicable. Provides accurate statistical data regarding the program activities, including quality data, evaluation, and validation from benchmarking programs.
6. Facilitates education for trauma team personnel, including orientation to the trauma program and internal and external education related to identified needs. Oversees community education and prevention programs and participates in identified system supported initiatives and activities.
7. Assists with developing departmental budget and manages assigned staff as applicable.
8. This is a highly matrixed position required to influence patient care across the continuum of care and patient outcomes by collaborating across multiple services and specialties. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action. Internal customers: All facility staff, management, and physicians. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Current RN licensure in state of practice. BLS certification required (or specialized life support certification depending on specialty).
Current TNCC required; ATCN preferred. Instructor status in either or both is highly desired. For burn programs, current ABLS certification required.
Minimum of five years clinical experience in a high patient acuity area including experience in related areas specific to clinical specialty, including trauma, pediatric, or burn for burn specific programs. Minimum two years supervisory or leadership experience. Must have American Trauma Society (ATS) TPM course and TOPIC course completed within six months of hire.
Self-motivated, requiring minimal direction. Computer skills including basic office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations). Demonstrate proficient interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, professional interaction with all individuals and public organizations. Ability to provide departmental leadership, training, and staff development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Functions

$18.85 - $28.30Major Responsibilities: Transporting of Patients 1)Ensure courteous, timely processing of all requests for all forms of transport including, but not limited to: inpatient transportation, discharges and escorts for disabled outpatients. 2)Routinely checks the patient wristband to verify patient identity correctly. 3)Ensures that the patient is transported with all necessary items including IV's, oxygen, shoes, robe, personal items, etc. 4)Accompanies patient at all times and does not leave the patient until they are handed off to other designated hospital personnel. 5)Delivers patient to their destination in a timely manner. 6)Consistently and appropriately introduces him/herself to the patient, the purpose for their interaction and the patient's intended destination. 7)Consistently offers to make the patient as comfortable as possible by offering blankets, pillows, etc. 8)Communicates patient needs to nursing personnel or therapist. 9)Communicates problems related to the patient condition to the nurse or therapist. 10)Familiar with all locations of the hospital and campus. Transporters are responsible for providing and maintaining a safe environment for themselves, the patient and their co-workers by following established policies and procedures. 1)Washes hands before and after each patient. 2)Follows isolation procedures. 3)Uses correct body mechanics/lifting techniques when transferring patients. 4)Cleans soiled equipment regularly to avoid spread of disease. 5)Reports potential safety hazards. 6)Familiar with hospital emergency codes, plans, and procedures. 7)Uses and maintains equipment in proper operating order. Transporting of Equipment, Medications, Specimens, Supplies 1)Pickup and delivery of documents, ad hoc supplies and specimens not transportable by the pneumatic tube system. 2)Pickup, delivery and redistribution of patient equipment as needed. 3)Uses transportation equipment in a safe manner. 4)Identifies any broken pieces of equipment used by the Central Transport Department and labels it for repair. 5)Demonstrates an awareness of the potential risks and safety hazards from the use of the equipment on a daily basis. 6)Ensures cleanliness of wheelchair fleet, stretchers, cushions, lap trays and armrests following patient transports. 7)Returns equipment to proper storage after use. 8)Completes training in body mechanics, Standard Precautions and use of all equipment. Documentation, Maintenance of Departmental Logs and Daily Operations 1)Provides updated documentation and logs of all special procedures for Quality Assurance/Process Improvement. 2)Maintains current CPR certification. 3)Signs the patient in and out of the unit. 4)Answers phones and greets customers in a professional and courteous manner. 5)Conveys messages accurately. 6)Fills out an patient safety event for any potential or actual safety events. 7)Follows all confidentiality policies and procedures of the hospital, refraining from discussing confidential information with co-workers, friends and family members. 8)Responsible to maintain the cleanliness of the Central Transport office space. Transporting of Patients - Privacy 1)Maintains knowledge of the location of various functions on the hospital campus. 2)Restricts the patient from reading his/her chart unless in the presence of a medical professional. 3)Opens the patient chart only to check for Alert Page and DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) restrictions. 4)Maintains communication with the Supervisor and responds to special instructions and/or assignments. 5)Ensures that the privacy of the patient is properly protected. 6)Follows all confidentiality policies and procedures of the hospital. 7)Refrains from discussing confidential information with co-workers, friends and family members. Transporting of Patients - Communications 1)Appropriately converses with patient during the transportation phase providing a friendly atmosphere and keeping the patient's spirits up. 2)Informs nursing personnel or therapist in a timely manner of delays and/or cancellations, along with reason for the delay/cancellation. 3)Informs the nurse when the patient is returned to the unit. 4)Appropriately ends the patient interaction by using the organizational script. 5)Receives handover when accepting the patient and provides handover when transfering patient to the care of other peronnel. Education/Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent. . Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Strong communications skills. Strong interpersonal skills. CPR Certification. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Assist in lifting patients and equipment. Must be willing to work with exposures to body fluids, waste and chemicals, radiation, hazardous materials, anesthesia gases and life threatening diseases. Ability to work weekends, holidays and rotating shifts to accommodate patient need. Ability to move heavy patients and equipment and to walk and stand for long periods of time. Resiliency and flexibility to deal with changing situations. Ability to communicate via phone, handheld radio and pager. Ability to work in high stress situations. Ability to respond to all fire and emergency codes. This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age group demographics treated. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
Certification / Registration / License
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services

Experience

- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
