Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Location: Specialty Services Pavilion, 4350 Emile St., Omaha, NE 68105
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Sr Associate Patient Coordinator to join our Urology team. This role provides administrative and customer service support to patients, physicians, nurses and other members of the care team, helping coordinate the details needed to keep patient care moving smoothly.
The majority of the role is phone- and computer-based, with some rotation to the checkout desk for face-to-face patient support.

Duties:
Properly, professionally, and sensitively obtain and handle medical records by communicating and coordinating with patients, physician offices, hospitals and other medical organizations/personnel in order to create accurate and sufficiently comprehensive patient charts. Coordinate patient referrals to designated clinical programs and services by being a part of and communicating with a team of people tasked with ensuring that patient appointments are timely, accurate and appropriate. Register and schedule patients in a customer service oriented, efficient and effective manner and in accordance with department guidelines. Complete complex scheduling of multiple appointments and/or services. Provide clerical support relating to scheduling and/or coordination of various services and surgical procedures within the organization. Provide administrative support as necessary to all team members in clinic, surgical and procedural areas, as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare customer service environment required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in customer service or medical scheduling related capacity (one year of education equals one year of experience) required.
Demonstrated verbal and written customer relations skills required.
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team required.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Demonstrated analytical, prioritizing and organizational skills required.
Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to physicians, patients and other internal/external customers required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a healthcare environment with working knowledge of scheduling or healthcare record collection and registration systems preferred.
Clinical background in assigned area preferred.
Associates degree in business, healthcare or related field preferred.
Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant preferred.
Previous experience with Microsoft office, data entry and electronic health records programs such as EPIC preferred.
Currently licensed medical assistant, patient care technician or certified nursing assistant (CNA) certificate preferred.

Performs a variety of routine procedures with the collection, receiving, triaging and/or processing of laboratory requisitions and specimens involving technical and data entry duties.Major Responsibilities:
- Receives specimens from couriers and checks manifests to verify appropriate count.
- Logs and assigns accession numbers to specimens and requisitions received.
- Sorts and triages requisitions and specimens to appropriate workstation; completes and files manifests.
- Answers telephones and communicates pertinent information. Send specimens and carriers to various sites using pneumatic tube or dumbwaiter. Performs minor troubleshooting of pneumatic tube through computer.
- Processes specimens including centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, and labeling.
- Registers short form outreach specimens received from clients.
- Performs a variety of routine duties to assist in laboratory processes, such as: Preparing reagents and stains, preparing slides and specimens, drawing blood, autoclaving and washing of glass wear, disposal of biohazardous waste, collecting occasional specimens from outreach patients at Biotech I.
- Performs assigned duties to assist in ensuring, an adequate inventory of supplies for assigned area. Monitors inventory levels and stores equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
- Maintains accurate records of processes performed, using manual and computer-based systems.
- Logs in error book specimens that are received without proper tubes or requisitions.
- Complies with all laboratory quality, health and safety policies, regulations and requirements and with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.

At Houston Methodist, the Registered Nurse (RN) II position is a licensed staff nurse, an experienced clinician, functions at the Competent to Proficient stage of Benner's model of clinical practice. The RN II position provides professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, conducts nursing assessments, assists with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. The RN II position provides direct patient care effectively and efficiently which may include patients with varied and complex needs. - Provides crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, triage, resource development and disposition recommendations for behavioral health patients of the Emergency Department and Medical Center via both in person and via telehealth as indicated by site.
- Provides direct specialized care with patients who have been identified as needing psychological assessment or interventions beyond the scope of general patient care practice, including assessment of patients’ mental status, psychosocial stressors, level of functioning, risk, support systems, strengths and needs.
- Provide reassessment and reevaluation under the IL Mental Health Code, counsels patients utilizing solution focused therapy and utilizes problem solving collaboratively with patient to stabilize condition/crisis.
- Uses short-term crisis intervention techniques and/or referrals to other support services to support patients and families dealing with acute emotional distress, addictions, grief, loss, disability and traumatic lifestyle changes.
- Develops discharge and safety plan in direct consultation with patient, family, physician and health care team. Coordinates arrangements to implement plan.
- Responds to codes/internal crisis situations as appropriate to site and provides education and or support to the interdisciplinary team.
- Provides direct support to the on-site psychiatry team by way of rounding, reassessment and collaboration including the completion of certificates if necessary.
