Come join the Nursing Support team at Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England! We are a member of the nationwide Trinity Health family, bringing compassionate care to our communities.
Position Purpose:
Functions as a professional under the direct and continuous supervision of qualified professional registered nurses and in accordance with established procedures and aseptic principles functions as a first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases to render quality service to patients of all ages and surgeons during operative procedures.
What you will do:
Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment; transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa; assists with lifting and positioning patients.
Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.
Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA
Certification: BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross required. New Requirement as of 10/1/2023, uncertified Techs have 18 months to provide proof of certification. THOfNE gives 1 chance to pass licensure exam.
Experience: Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.
On-Call- Weekend and Holidays (Required)

- Serves as main point of contact for all inpatient, outpatient, and physician office facilitation to include routing and handling requests appropriately. Applies in depth knowledge of hospital services as well as an ability to handle multiple tasks at once in a fast moving and dynamic environment.
- Cultivates relationships with physician offices, professional services, and other hospital departments to ensure seamless coordination of patient encounters.
- Enhances patient experience by providing customized concierge assistance to each patient throughout the patient’s entire visit.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Delivers prompt and personalized service to patients, handles multiple requests including but not limited to information, medical appointments, rescheduling, cancellations, etc. while delivering culturally appropriate high-end concierge service to each patient. Develops creative, meaningful solutions for patients and family members. Will provide language assistance as needed.
- Proactively resolves patient concerns to reach resolutions in a swift manner to avoid interruptions of services.
- Communicates effectively with patients, family members, co-workers, medical staff hospital personnel, and all other clients; treats all individuals with dignity and respect and participates in activities to improve working relationships within the department.
- Stays abreast of hospital services offered to better assist patients.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides appropriate and accurate documentation/tracking in (CRM) systems for each patient.
- Partners with Finance to ensure an efficient and complete patient registration process.
- Understands legal and liability considerations of maintaining confidentiality and addressing situations of necessary information disclosure; including confidentiality and mandated reporting of information to include federal, state, and organization.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Enters basic insurance and demographic information into appropriate data systems to streamline patient processing.
- Provides support on auditing patient types such as International, International 1, Platinum, and/or Corporate patient information and collecting referral information on all patients whose services are facilitated at our hospitals.

Education & Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate of an approved State
Technical College program in patient care assisting, licensed practical nursing,

with experience listed below.
Experience:
Two (2) years’ experience as a patient care tech (or similar title) in a hospital.
Hospital experience may be substituted with Two (2) years patient care assisting experience in other health care facilities and a GA Certified Nursing Assistant certification or Two (2) years’ experience as a medical technician or hospital corpsman in the U.S. Armed Forces. Current enrollment in clinical portion of a nursing program eliminates experience requirement.
Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. Completion of the Rhythm Interpretation
Course CLEP test or classroom course or obtained within 3 months. Current
PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization) or
obtained within (9) nine months of hire. CPT training within 9 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Medical terminology, hospital professional services, documentation and various
departmental responsibilities, anatomy & physiology, infection control, vital
signs, medical records (charting and obtaining health histories), assistance with
physical exams, specimen collection, patient focused care, dressing changes
(clean & sterile).

Job Profile SummaryUnder general supervision of the Mammography/Ultrasound Supervisor, performs ultrasound scans to produce images to assist physicians in the diagnosis of injury and/or disease for patients of all ages. Performs related clerical and service duties.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Obtains and records appropriate patient clinical information and/or history; verifies physician assessment of each patient, making adjustments in the standard imaging procedures and techniques to accommodate patient size, age, or condition using Universal Protocol
2. Assists, transfers, and positions patients as needed, ensuring their modesty and physical safety, utilizing auxiliary equipment and/or devices as needed; selects equipment scan parameters appropriate to examination and patient condition
3. Processes and records scanned images per Radiologist protocol to ensure quality and accuracy. Reviews scans with Radiologists as requested. Accurately documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
4. Checks operation of equipment, sees that Q.A and maintenance schedules are adhered to; maintains cleanliness of tables and equipment to prevent cross contamination of contagious diseases, keeps rooms well stocked with linen and necessary supplies
5. Keeps up to date with changes in the field of ultrasonography by inservice study, attending courses or seminars as necessary and/or recommended, or participating in professional organizations.
6. Maintains yearly competency in Trophon disinfection processes
7. Assists in other area/modalities as needed

Position Title
Position Summary / Career Interest:
Cardiac sonographers provide professional, safe and compassionate ultrasound imaging care to all patient populations. They are uniquely trained in the advanced understanding of ultrasound physics and instrumentation allowing them to optimize the ultrasound controls for the highest quality image acquisition. The sonographer is able to identify and evaluate the appropriate anatomical and physiological consequences consistent with different disease processes. They need to be able to adapt the routine protocol to a wide range of patients and disease-state variability, making each exam individual and unique. The sonographer manages the initiation of critical value notification to expedite optimal patient outcomes.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions- Obtains a patient history and perform a pre ultrasound procedure assessment. The sonographer must utilize their professional knowledge to verify that the exam ordered is consistent with the patient history, indication and/or diagnosis and assessment findings. In the presence of any inconsistencies they clarify the procedure with the ordering physician. They interact and communicate with patients; explaining the procedure, reassuring them and eliciting their cooperation as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patients while they are under their care. Interacts and communicates with patients, explaining the procedure, reassuring them and eliciting their cooperation as needed.
- Performs routine and complex cardiac ultrasound procedures including echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms including treadmill, Dobutamine echo and bicycle ergonometry.
- The sonographer must demonstrate an understanding of the imaging planes obtained during a TEE exam. Assists the physician in the accurate acquisition of images from the esophagus. At the KU location the sonographer completes appropriate TEE probe cleaning and disinfecting.
- Performs professional, clinical and technical competencies of assigned location, but not limited to assigned shifts and be readily available when scheduled to perform on-call echocardiographic services as assigned to provide emergent echocardiographic services under the direction of a cardiologist.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify and evaluate the appropriate anatomical and physiological consequences that would be consistent with disease processes. The sonographer needs to be able to adapt the routine protocol to accommodate a wide range of patients and disease-states, making each exam individual and unique. Any additional enhancements that would provide beneficial information are initiated with the sonographer unless otherwise noted by the ordering physician.
- Demonstrates both cognitive and psychomotor skill sets in the area of cardiovascular disease states. These skill sets are necessary to accurately and efficiently obtain the appropriate echocardiographic ultrasound images and hemodynamic information as appropriate.
- Organizes the acquired data in the appropriate sequence that will accurately represent the patient’s condition to the interpreting physician. In the presence of critical values, the sonographer must display competence in identifying, documenting and communicating this to the interpreting physician. Working closely with the interpreting physician in interpretive sessions, assisting in the evaluation of data and contributing relevant technical information.
- In accordance with the departmental QI program, the sonographer must provide quality, constructive feedback on peer-to-peer case study review as assigned; return QI studies to the technical director or their designee in a timely manner.
- Assists in maintaining efficient patient flow through the department, working as an active participant with the other members of the team.
- Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments as outlined by the departmental director.
- Participates in the education and training of sonographer students, residents, medical students and fellows, providing instruction in the area of cardiovascular ultrasound procedures.
- Assess the need for ultrasound enhancing agent (UEA) and bubble studies during echocardiography studies. Administer and properly document IVs, UEA, and bubble studies when performed.
- Assists with the assessment and maintenance of the equipment log. Make service calls when needed in a timely manner, resolve the issue, and document in the appropriate log. The sonographer must notify director/manager of issue in a timely manner.
- Maintains cleanliness of supplies, stocks linen and empties laundry on a daily basis.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Position Purpose:

This position qualifies for a $10,000 sign-on bonus paid out in 4 installments.
Schedule is Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm with rotating weekends (currently team is working one every 17 weeks)
What you will do:
Plan and prioritize visits based on client needs and physician orders.
Assess clients at admission and key intervals and document accurately.

Current Physical Therapist license in Connecticut.
Minimum 1 year as a Physical Therapist or completion of 6–8 week preceptorship.
Familiarity with home healthcare and regulatory requirements preferred.
Maintain clinical skills and adhere to organizational policies and ethical standards.

What you'll do:
Provides quality patient care by providing technical support to the anesthesia providers and Surgical team. Ensures anesthesia equipment and supplies are in a state of readiness. Primary work areas include (1) Main Operating Room (Russo OR), (2) Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), and support of all other areas where Anesthesia services are provided (e.g. Labor & Delivery, GI Lab, Cath/EP Lab, IR, etc.). All areas are located on one campus so commuting between sites is needed.
Performs laboratory tests in the Anesthesia Blood Gas Lab providing lab results to the anesthesia providers.
Provides technical support to the anesthesia providers and the surgical team.
Following proper procedures in setting up of transducers. Timeliness in providing required equipment. Following proper procedures in stocking, cleaning and disinfection of anesthesia carts and equipment.
Provide supplies and equipment as needed during surgical procedures to the anesthesia provider.
Completes the anesthesia turnover between cases not delaying the start of following procedures.
Assists the anesthesia providers in difficult airways, trauma case and as needed
Provide for patient safety by ensuring that equipment utilized, is correctly set up.
Following guidelines in the processing and set up of endoscopes and endoscopic equipment, and cleaning of equipment following universal standard precaution, wearing PPE.
Cleaning/disinfection of anesthesia equipment correctly between patients.
Cleaning/disinfection of anesthesia equipment in the OR suite at the completion of the OR schedule

POSITION SUMMARY

9ST is a 48 bed Adult Moderate Acuity Cardiovascular Surgical unit. Working closely with the CVICU, we provide care to those patients needing specialty services before and after their heart surgery, heart transplant and/or ventricular assist device (VAD). Orientation to our unit is completed in two phases. Phase one focuses on the care of the cardiac surgical patient with phase 2 centering on the more complex needs of the heart transplant, ultrafiltration or VAD patient.
