As a Registered Nurse for Oncology Multispecialty, you'll work alongside physicians and healthcare staff dedicated to providing a positive patient experience. You'll evaluate a patient's physical and emotional health, as well as their medical history and Collaborate with physicians and specialists to create a treatment plan for each patient.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8a-4:30pm

We've earned the Society of Thoracic Surgeons highest quality award for CABG & aortic valve replacement and the Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center.POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.
3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
8. In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.
9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
In a Home Health setting, team members must be able to operate personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license. Auto insurance coverage is also required to be active and maintained.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral or BUMG, BUMCT in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working at BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Banner Children's Hospital at Desert NICU is a 76- bed unit divided into our high acuity ICU patients and our lower acuity patients. Our ICU side is an open pod layout with six beds per pod. Our CCN (lower acuity) side are all private rooms allowing parents space to room in and learn how to care for their baby before going home. We have a diverse population of patients that include micropremies, neuro patients, cardiac anomalies, surgical patients, ECMO and whole-body cooling. We have a family centered care model with an interdisciplinary team approach. Our care includes 24-hour Neonatology coverage, development therapists, Nutritionists, PT/OT and SLP and lactation

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.
3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.

- Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation which may include use of therapeutic assistive devices, proper positioning, range of motion and special transferring as indicated. - Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of the patient under direction of RN to include diet review, tray set up/removal, proper positioning and diet selection. Performs tasks related to maintaining skin integrity to include proper repositioning and skin care. Ensures special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained such as TED hose and sequential compression devices.
- Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated using approved process for accurate specimen labeling and identification. Maintains competency as required. Under direction of RN and as determined by site/unit requirements, may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care and perform bladder scans.
- Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention by demonstrating hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, proper disposal of contaminated materials and utilizing proper attire when in direct contact with patients in isolation.
- Coordinates tests and treatments with and between various departments for patients on nursing units. Maintains a working knowledge of functions and services offered by all diagnostic and treatment departments to facilitate the scheduling of tests and treatments. Maintains working knowledge of EHR system and other computer systems for ordering patient and unit supplies and equipment. Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedures through the system.
- Facilitates communications required to support patient care, including the multiple-line telephone, unit/site paging and the hospital information system. Screens incoming telephone calls. Monitors department office equipment and troubleshoots minor problems. Arranges repair of major malfunctions.
- Compiles necessary chart forms for admissions, transfers, discharges and expirations. Obtains appropriate copies of medical records for transfers to nursing homes and other health care facilities. Verifies medical records contain complete and accurate patient demographic information, patient identification and registration in the medical record, including appropriate level of care.

Major Responsibilities:
- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care.
- Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services.
- Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
- Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy - butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
- Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.
- Participates in patient centered initiatives, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. About this role
As a Shoulder and Elbow Orthopedic Surgeon at Intermountain Health, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience. The Musculoskeletal team at Utah Valley Hospital has 23 providers: 14 physicians and 9 APPs. Fellow physicians specialize in orthopedic sports medicine, hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty, hand & elbow, foot & ankle, hip preservation, orthopedic trauma, and non-surgical sports medicine.
Utah Valley Hospital is currently a Level II facility, with a dedicated and functioning trauma program. This position will support a busy and established shoulder and elbow practice, with a heavy shoulder case load.
In this role, you can anticipate:
- Practicing from Utah Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Orthopedic Clinic in Provo, Utah.
- You can anticipate 2 days per week in clinic and 2 days per week OR surgical time; patient-preferred hours are encouraged.
- Sub-Specialty call available to support Orthopedic Trauma Program; you may be asked to participate in call, but commitment varies by facility and need. Compensation offered for call requirement.
- Advanced Practice Provider (APP) support in clinic and OR.
- Local ASC with potential to participate.
- Utah Valley team provides coverage for and has a direct referral source from local Division 1 schools, Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. This position will support the Sports Medicine team in the treatment of sports related shoulder and elbow conditions.
- Comprehensive treatment of all shoulder and elbow conditions.

Summary:
Coordinates the successful transfer or bed placement of patients entering Memorial Healthcare System (MHS). Ensures patients are assigned rooms in an expedient manner by communicating effectively with the surgery department, emergency department, nursing units, physician offices, and outlying facilities to ensure appropriate transfer and placement of patients. Gives high priority to customer service and complete customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates across all disciplines to coordinate patient transfers, including disposition, ambulance transportation (internal and external), specialist referrals, etc. Coordinates the successful transfer and placement of patients across MHS.
Follows established documentation protocols for transfer and bed placement in the Epic EMR to ensure adequate patient safety standards are met.
Serves as the expert in Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) and intervenes including escalation to leadership, as needed. Follows established protocols for interfacility transfer acceptance and escalates to direct report, Administrative Officer, or Administrator On Call (AOC).
Remotely engages with facility staff to monitor and document transfer need; communicates patient condition to sending or receiving providers and facilities. Consults other disciplines based upon patient s needs, e.g., infection control, equipment needs, nutritional, functional, pain, social and skin integrity.
Accurately completes effective and expedient placement of patients from all nursing units with emphasis on the ED, ICU, Post Anesthesia Care, Cardiac Care, Cath Lab, and external transfers.
Utilizes the chain of command to advocate for a patient in need of priority admission or transfer to higher or lower level of care that are beyond the scope of practice for the facility, specialists, etc. (e.g., STEMI, stoke, trauma alert).
Plans, implements, and evaluates patient needs based on reported assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Remotely triages using Critical Care or Emergency Department experience to identify patient care needs providing expert and timely recommendation for correct facility transfer based on patients acuity, services required, condition, circumstances and area facility capacity and capability matrixes.
Anticipates admission needs and communicates findings with transferring department, nurse or facility and collaborates to obtain optimal patient flow across the system.
Assigns initial bed placement and establishes bed assignments based on documented assessment, patient and bed attributes, isolation and identified risks.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Patient Support Technician functions as a collaborative member of the health care team in partnership with and under supervision of the Registered Nurse utilizing principles of Relationship-Based Care, performs direct patient care to a specific group of patients and coordinates activities which relate to the flow of unit processes. Actively supports the activities of the unit based shared governance council. Promotes organizational commitment and excellence in patient care experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates principles of Relationship-based Care to cultivate and maintain therapeutic relationships as a means to optimal healing and collegial functioning as an interdisciplinary care team member.
Provides patient care that reflects respect for patients' rights, dignity, values, culture preferences, and expressed needs and attention to providing comfort, relieving pain, and alleviating anxiety.
Provides basic bedside care and selected procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Including but not limited to: venipuncture, 12 lead EKG, basic blood glucose collection and monitoring, respiratory care (i.e. Cough and deep breathing, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, oxygen setup, hand held nebulizer), dressing changes, collection of vital signs, recognition of life-threatening conditions with initial responses and reporting, emptying and measuring drainage equipment.
Performs activities of daily living (ADL) appropriate to the patient's condition under the direction of and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Initiates and maintains patient medical records.
Manages communication for the unit including placing and receiving calls from physicians, other departments, and visitors.
Maintains an accurate patient roster/census and available ready beds.
Assists with the provision of patient education under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Integrates principles of the Personal.Connected.Journey and demonstrates Trinity Health Guiding Behaviors to provide excellent care of self, patients, and care team members.
Performs basic nutritional support to patients such as bed set up, assistance with feeding, and collection and documentation of intake and calorie count as appropriate.
Takes personal accountability to seek out experiences in order to maintain skills and competence.
Seeks and incorporates feedback concerning improvement in one's own practice, including participation in self-appraisal.
Assists with the admission process by collecting selected assessment data, applying necessary equipment, labeling patient's clothes and belongings, informing patient/family of unit routines, etc.
Provides individualized care consistent with the plan of care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Actively engages and participates in unit-based and other committees and indicatives that promote patient and workplace safety, optimal patient outcomes, and satisfaction.
Reports changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
Demonstrates proper body mechanics in performing role.
Performs other various duties as assigned and needed. These duties may vary depending upon the unit, patient type and need, number and complexity of treatment provided. Additional duties may also include nonclinical duties consistent with meeting the needs of the patient and care team.

In accordance with unit or departmental practice, determines that appropriate charges have been entered for the correct patient, encounter, date/time of service, with any required modifiers. Make corrections as needed per charge capture policy/practice.
In accordance with unit or departmental practice, actively participates in on-going education and communication regarding revenue management.
In accordance with unit or departmental practice, assists with tracking and monitoring of equipment assigned to the unit. Requests services for maintaining equipment as needed.
In accordance with unit or departmental practice, proficient with the electronic health records for documentation, assessment, and care management, performing these activities concurrently with provision of care throughout the shift.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Preferably at least one of the following:
- 6 months direct patient care experience within past 5 years.
- Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing educational program.
- Completion of a "Patient Care Technician" program that requires successful completion of an externship in an acute care facility.
- Previous Health Unit Coordinator/Unit Secretary working experience.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program or equivalent.
- Completion of one of the following preferred:
1. Certification program which requires a Medical/Surgical rotation.
2. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
3. Equivalent work experience as defined in Section D.
Licensure/Certification:
- If EMT - current licensure in State of Michigan.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Maintains appropriate skill level through completion of required hospital and unit based education offerings.
In a typical day, the colleague may sit for 25%, stand for 25%, and walk for 50% of the day.
Working in the patient care environment may result in exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous substances.
Working weekends and holidays is necessary to meet staffing needs. Work in other units and shifts may be assigned as necessary to also meet staffing requirements.
Associate's position requires occasional (5-10% of work time) squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, and balancing, frequent bending/stooping, and reaching above shoulder level, pushing/pulling.
Position requires the use of hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulating.
Position may require frequent lifting and carrying of patients/equipment other not to exceed 51 pounds. Associates will not lift items/patients exceeding 35 pounds from the floor.

About Us: The Transport Team provides interfacility transports via ambulance and rotor wing for critically ill or injured infants and children to one of our Advocate Children’s Hospitals located in Oak Lawn or Park Ridge or Endeavor Healthcare System. Our transfer center facilitates transports across the United States with a majority of transports occurring within Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Job Profile Summary: The Interfacility Transport RCP has an intuitive grasp of clinical situations and demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and experience. S/he is a recognized resource, leader, and problem solver. S/he seeks out challenging patients and shares expertise with others. The Interfacility Transport RCP is an experienced RCP that provides comprehensive respiratory care to the critically ill/injured patient (neonatal, pediatric, and/or adult with a pediatric chronic disease) in the mobile environment of air and ground transports. Through the use of expanded skills, the Transport RCP is responsible for the accurate assessment, planning, implementation of and evaluation of respiratory care for assigned patient under the direction of the Transport Medical Control Physician. The transport team composition consist of RN/RCP and is capable of multi-mode transports utilizing ground, rotor, and fixed wing. The Transport RCP is also responsible for performing job duties that are consist with the BOE.
Major Responsibilities:
• Patient Care Activities
o Obtains pertinent maternal, neonatal, and pediatric histories with emphasis on risk factors and implications for problems and incorporates that in plan of care.
o Performs pertinent physical examination related to respiratory practice.
o Formulates differential diagnosis and a plan of care of existing and potential problems in collaboration with Transport RN and Transport Medical Control Physician (TMCP).
o Recognizes and treats changes in clinical situations (including life threatening conditions) and implements changes to the transport plan of care based on Standing Transport Protocols and TMCP recommendations.
o Exercises independent judgment in situations when sudden clinical changes occur and understand and implements necessary interventions and their expected outcomes based on Transport Protocols and TMCP recommendations
o Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated for identification and management of problems as indicated by protocols and/or TMCP recommendations, including but not limited to (Patient stabilization, Airway management, needle aspiration of pleural space, interpretation of routine laboratory and radiographic data, intraosseous insertion, spinal immobilization, trauma primary and secondary assessment/management, blood drawing, insertion of peripheral IVs and all other procedures as trained).
o Provides clinical management for resuscitation, with independent manner per protocol, of the neonatal, pediatric, and/or adolescent patient, including necessary pharmacological support during interfacility transports.
o Provides ongoing monitoring, assessment, and appropriate interventions in accordance with standing protocols and orders while in transit, at referring and receiving facilities and documents accurately on all transport documentation according to department guidelines and roles models this to other team members.
o Demonstrates expertise in respiratory practice and critically evaluates own decision-making and judgments.
o Serves as an expert with ability to care for all types of neonatal and pediatric patients (and adults with pediatric diagnosis/medical history), at an expert level, in the mobile environment (ground/rotor/fixed wing).
• Assuring safety and quality of care
o Wears appropriate uniform and boots according to policy and role models to peers.
o Obtains appropriate transport consents including but not limited to consent for treatment and transfer and privacy consent and ensures understanding of information to guardian prior to obtaining consents.
o Completes independent verification during interfacility transfer for the RN on required medications (acting as RN's wingman)
o Takes a leadership role in achieving unit compliance with Transport Program accreditation for CAMTS and actively participates in the Quality and Safety plan of department.
o Consistently utilizes risk assessment/reduction strategies and role models this behavior to coworkers to include but not limited to: fatigue management assessment, ground risk assessment, post transport debriefs and predeparture checklist and reports identified risk to the leadership on a real time basis.
o Communicates information about the patient’s “working diagnosis, plan of management, and prognosis to the referring physician, guardian, and other management of the health care team and provides a concise and through hand-over and transfers care of patient to the receiving hospital staff.
o Assure medications and supplies are stocked according to guidelines and are not expired and role models this behavior to coworkers.
o Administers all inhalation medications as prescribed by TMCP (standing orders/protocols) and according to policy and procedure.
o Implements strategies to reduce patient and crew risk and increase safety in the transport environment including but not limited to the use of securement devices, securing equipment, and the use of lights and sirens
• Operation of transport equipment/vehicle procedures
o Demonstrates expert knowledge and operation of all transport equipment within scope and is able to troubleshoot issue on a real-time basis in order to provide the safest care for the patients.
o Maintains all transport equipment in a state of readiness by checking all equipment, per departmental guidelines, at the beginning of each shift and prn. Special attention to detail needs to be made noting any discrepancies and troubleshoots as needed. Role models this behavior to ensure compliance with others on the team to maintain a culture of safety.
o Participates in the ongoing evaluation of transport equipment needs and provides detailed feedback to ensure evaluation was completed in a comprehensive manner.
o Reports and documents transport equipment malfunctions/errors to biomedical engineering, transport leadership and in appropriate patient safety event reporting.
o Demonstrates knowledge of ground, rotor and fixed wing aircraft operating procedures and safety practices.
• Transport Team Communication Center
o Facilities and contacts consultants as directed by TMCP.
o Ensures appropriate documentation of transport request is completed with accuracy.
o Coordinates initial transport request information from the referring facility unit clerk and begin request in Central Logic.
o Maintains appropriate contact with the transport team at required times to ensure team’s where abouts and ongoing safety of transport team and maintains information on a guardian/designee ride along and logs emergency contact information
o Keeps up dated information on current weather conditions in and around transport service area and notifies transport leadership of any current weather threats.
o Coordinates and confirms bed placement at receiving facility or alternative admission facility as appropriate.
o Coordinates appropriate mode of transport with vendor staff and contacts/communicates information to Advocate Children’s Hospital Transport Team.
o Communicates ETA and status, on an ongoing basis, with both the referring facility and receiving facility
o Verifies appropriate crew information sheets on file and initiates PIAP (Post Incident Action Plan) when appropriate.
o Maintains up to date information on bed availability, physician, team coverage/status, vehicle information-availability, and contact numbers on an ongoing basis.
• Professional Development/Professional accountability
o Participates in peer review of the transport team members by accurately completing post transport debriefs.
o Earns a minimum of 15 contact hours per year related to transport medicine and/or population that is served by transport program.
o Takes a proactive approach in seeking out own learning needs and experiences in order to stay up to date and current based on departmental educational plan and requirements.
o Demonstrates continued professional growth through continuing education and review of current literature pertaining to neonatal-pediatric transport as evidence by participates in at least 75% of departmental journal clubs on a yearly basis and encourages peers to actively participate.
o Takes a leadership role in the education of others at the unit, house-wide and/or system level to provide a class and/or formal education event once a year.
o Leads a transport case study once every 12 months AND/OR takes a leadership role in the education of others at the unit, site, system or at a Referring Hospital to provide a class and/or formal education event once a year.
o Actively participates in at least one unit committee and/or unit task force OR site/system committee and shares information and keeps department up to date on current committee (task force) issues.
o Serves as a preceptor in the training of future transport team members and residents/students that are completing a transport rotation (required after member has been on transport team for over 12 months)
o Participates in at least 75% of department staff meetings on an annual basis via in person or phone.
• Leadership/Research/Evidence Based Practice
o Initiates, participates, and assist with the implementation of change to transport policies, practices, procedures to enhance the quality of care that is delivered.
o Identifies and/or participates in potential/actual research studies and/or evidence base practice projects that are related to neonatal, pediatric, and transport when identified.
o Serves as a resource or consultant to nursing, medical, and ancillary staff regarding neonatal and pediatric transport and acts as an expert in complex cases.
o Performs all required charge crew duties in a comprehensive manner, when assigned, and communicates through the proper chain of command when appropriate.
o Takes a collaborative approach in assisting with medical procedures and interfacility transports when requested and available and does this in a manner that is collegial, representing the transport department in a positive manner.
o Prepares for the safety huddle, when assigned, and communicates department information and follows up on any issues identifies according to guidelines established.
o Utilizes resources and follows chain of command for disruptive behavior that impedes the delivery of care/safety of patient and/or team and proactively addresses difficult conversations on a peer to peer basis when appropriate.

Licensure:
• Respiratory Care Practitioner
Education/Experience Required:
• * At least 3 years of respiratory experience (or 4000 hours as equivalent) with a focus on Critical care (peds and/or neonatal preferred) * RRT required * NPS required within 6 months of hire * Interfacility transport experience preferred. * Earn 15 continuing education credits annually related to transport medicine or neonatal/pediatric critical or emergency care.

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).

This position serves as a personal guide, and liaison for individuals with substance use disorders identified in WVU Health System affiliated treatment settings. The recovery coach supports patients by assisting them with identifying treatment needs, developing, maintaining, and monitoring individualized treatment plans, and supporting patients to remain in treatment. The recovery coach’s duties include providing outreach, support, recovery check-ups on site in treatment settings, in the community and functioning as part of a treatment team.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Peer Recovery Certification issued by state board where services are provided:
WV: Substance Use Disorder Peer Recovery Certification (PRSS-SUD) through the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction and Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP)
MD: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) through the Maryland Addiction & Behavioral-Health Professionals Certification Board
3. State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), asrequiredfor regulated areas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Valid Driver’s License
2. Certificate of completion of the CCAR Recovery Coaching in the Emergency Department.
3. Active participation in the recovery for two or more years and current active attendance at community recovery meetings.

1. Work actively with patients with Substance Use Disorders identified in WVU Health System treatment settings Help link patients to outpatient treatment.
2. Provide mentoring through life-experience to individuals experiencing substance use problems.
3. Meet face to face with individuals and identified support persons in person and/or by phone, at a frequency and format requested and agreed upon by the individual.
4. Develop individualized plans with patients and monitor those wellness plans during meetings.
5. Provide information to treatment team to inform treatment decision making.
6. Link patients to available resources, including, but not limited to: continuing education/professional development, safe housing, recovery supports, self- help groups, substance abuse and mental health services, sobriety meetings, and medical/health facilities.
7. Serve as a liaison to the patient’s formal and informal supports, including but not limited to: their referral source, family members, client sponsors, treatment providers, and other supporters.
8. Maintain working relationships with WVU Health System treatment staff and other agencies or institutions in order provide awareness of recovery as a reality and the availability of recovery coaching.
9. Assist patients in crisis situations involving social, emotional, health, and other problems.

3. May be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in working environment. May be exposed to traumatic situations including psychiatric crisis, physical injuries and death.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of treatment resources including a working knowledge of the 12-Step Fellowships.
2. Ability to comply with WVU Health System, WVU Research Corporation, UHA, and Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry safety procedures
3. Completion of HIPAA training and compliance (to be completed upon hire, with refresher courses as determined by administration).
4. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families, pharmaceutical company personnel, regulatory and monitoring agency personnel, internal staff members. Communicates with physicians, patients, students, and employees of WVU Health System, and UHA.
5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
6. Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
7. Ability to develop specific goals and plans, to prioritize, organize and accomplish tasks independently and through others.
8. Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
9. Skilled at working as a team member.
10. Skilled at written and oral communication.
11. Knowledge of basic computer applications: Word and Excel.
