Completes computerized tasks related to patient registration and/or test order entry, specimen collection, receiving and processing. Performs basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports, storing and/or retrieving specimens. Completes quality-related tasks such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean, stocked and safe work area, and monitoring pending work, as well as escalating priority work. Operates and/or uses basic pre-analytic lab equipment. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.Job Description:

HS Diploma: High School or General Education Diploma (GED) provided prior to start date
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
CA Licensed Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) I or II
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge and practice of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to:
1) ordering Laboratory testing,
2) collecting blood specimens,
3) compassionately and effectively interacting with patients,
4) handling and processing biological specimens routinely submitted to the Laboratory for analysis.
Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks.
1) Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
2) Ability to compassionately and effectively interact with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors.
Workflow Management Ability to appropriately respond to:
1) fluctuations in volume,
2) unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or IS failure,

Opportunities exist for motivated Registered Respiratory Therapists (and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians) with the skills to provide a high level of quality service in a variety of settings including the ED, Trauma and Critical Care.
Summary:
Provides care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
Responsibilities:
Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition.

Position Purpose

Performs activities of daily living (ADL) appropriate to the patient's condition under the direction of and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Performs basic nutritional support to patients such as bed set up, assistance with feeding, and collection and documentation of intake and calorie count as appropriate.

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care. Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
- Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy - butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
- Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.
- Participates in patient centered initiatives, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Under supervision of the Manager, Outreach Services, is responsible for covering at various Outreach Patient Service Centers (PSC’s), traveling to patient’s homes, Assisted and Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities. Reviews requisitions to determine services to be performed. Review and accurately complete LifeChart and non-LifeChart generated lab orders. Reference pathology handbook/electronic lab guide and obtain additional clarifying information from physician as necessary for test orders. Performs registrations, enters test orders, medical necessity, Media Manager, specimen processing & tracking functions. Maintains Outreach Float Resource Binder.
Provides coverage at Outreach patient service centers (PSC’s) throughout RI and nearby Massachusetts.
Support day-to-day PSC operations, patient registration, test orders, venipunctures, ensures supplies and necessary equipment are readily available, routinely checks expiration dates. Assists with daily patient service center checklists, ensures tasks are complete and recorded by end of shift. Answers phones and perform routine clerical duties as needed. Don/Doff PPE as required. Deliver and maintain on-site laboratory supply inventory at LTC facilities.
Following Order of Draw, obtains blood samples from patient according to venipuncture technique. Obtain samples for specialized tests. Monitor patient for potential reactions including diaphoresis, sleeping, etc.Labels, dates, initials, records, and prepares samples appropriately for transport to laboratory for testing and analysis.
Adheres to all system-wide and departmental policies including but not limited to Departmental Call-Out Protocol, Unplanned Absences and Tardiness, Patient Identification and Verification, Patient Look-Up, Venipuncture and Specimen Labeling.

EDUCATION:
Acquired through high school plus accredited course through a licensed phlebotomy educational program, hospital, or a community college. Phlebotomy certification required.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous phlebotomy experience with demonstrated venipuncture proficiency and ability to function independently preferred.

Job Description:
This position is responsible for overseeing inventory management activities for assigned departments or clinical programs. Key duties include distributing and managing supplies to ensure that medical products, linens, and equipment are adequately stocked and ready for clinical use. This position is accountable for coordinating all inventory activities for assigned department, facility or clinical program. This may include: Replenishment, Picking, Staging, Delivery, Put Away, Special Orders & Substitutions. - Accountable for replenishment activity in assigned locations or clinical program using established SCO Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). Ensures temperature sensitive products are stored properly and are delivered according to manufacturer and Intermountain guidelines.
- Ensures required documentation related to shipping & receiving, delivery, and tissue tracking are completed according to Intermountain policy and procedures.
- Communicates information concerning supply levels, new products, standardization, back orders, and product implementation to the relevant stakeholders or clinical program staff.
- Reconciles and manages inventory reports (e.g., negative on-hand, exception, unconfirmed, put away reports). Assists with inventory management initiatives and strategies to ensure processes are lean and effective.
- Coordinates the MMIS system ensuring distribution, inventory, receiving, departmental files, and reports are managed in accordance with Auditing, Accounting, and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Coordinates with Business Applications Team to research and resolve application related questions or problems.
- May lead daily huddles and escalate issues that are brought up. Coordinates between various groups and bring resolution to issues that arise in a timely manner.

- Process internal and out-going referrals, as needed, per department procedures
