St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY has an opportunity for a skilled Operating Room Tech/Surgical Tech!

The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Providing assistance as first scrub at the surgical table for select procedures
Create and maintain sterile field
Prepare operating rooms
Monitors breaks in technique and function, including scrub/gown technique, clean sterile field and set up sterile field
Inspects sterile items for contamination before opening, maintains sterility while scrubbed, maintains sterility of instruments and supplies
Performance and documentation of accurate instrument, sponge and needle counts, following established policies and procedures
Positioning and transport of patients
Minimum requirements:
Has successfully completed a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization. May be employed or contracted to practice surgical technology during the twelve month period immediately following successful completion of a surgical technology program, but may not continue to be employed or contracted beyond that period without obtaining a certified surgical technologist credential; or
NYS LPN License; or
Has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; or
Provides evidence that the person was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015.
After a thorough and diligent effort has been made and the healthcare facility is unable to employ or contract with a sufficient number of qualified surgical technologists who meet the prior requirements, a person can be hired if that person meets the requirements within two years of their start of employment or contracting for the performance of surgical technology
1-2 year of previous OR experience preferred
Must possess adequate hearing, vision, and hand dexterity to manipulate instruments and equipment while functioning in multiple surgical specialties
Preferred requirements:
1+ year of experience as a surgical tech in an operating room setting
Strong dexterity and stamina to work on long cases as needed
Prioritize quickly a number of different tasks and activates
Work and engage with a team to help promote strong team work
Strong communication skills in a fast pace work environment
Critical thinking skills to help assist the RNs and Surgeons
Passion to learn, grow and develop in the nursing field
Pay Range: $27.15 - $35.75
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

- May be required to float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.Â
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Minimum Job RequirementsÂ
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.Â
Certification / Registration / LicenseÂ
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.Â
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing servicesÂ

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.Â
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.Â
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.Â
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.Â
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.Â
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.Â
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.Â
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.Â

Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation which may include use of therapeutic assistive devices, proper positioning, range of motion and special transferring as indicated.

Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and promptly communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family to RN. Documents appropriately.
Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN including room set up, orientation to room, removing linen, and proper management of patient belongings. Ensures patient call light is always in reach of patient and answers call-lights promptly.
Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated using approved process for accurate specimen labeling and identification. Maintains competency as required.

Schedule: This role offers 10-hour shifts with flexible monthly hour options of either 130 hours or 151.67 hours, based on candidate preference and team needs. New graduates or APPs newer to emergency medicine are generally encouraged to consider the 151.67-hour option to allow for more hands-on experience and continued skill development. Candidates should be comfortable supporting a variety of shifts, including first, second, and third shift, as well as nights, weekends, and holidays. While overnight coverage is primarily supported by Nocturnists who prefer that schedule, APPs who are not dedicated Nocturnists can typically expect approximately 2–4 night shifts per month.

Where You Will Work:
CICU 8S 24-bed high acuity unit on the 8th floor of the Garden Tower of Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. CICU cares for critically ill cardiac/interventional cardiac patients, including diagnoses of acute MI, cardiogenic shock, dysrhythmias, multisystem organ failure, pre-heart transplant, complex pre and post stent, valvuloplasty, TAVR, as well complex medical patients.

Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
Strong interest and passion for cardiac care

Minimum Job RequirementsÂ
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.Â
Certification / Registration / LicenseÂ
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.Â
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing servicesÂ

- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.Â
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.Â
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.Â

Summary:
The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) serves as the first point of contact in greeting patients and guarantors in the hospital, ambulatory or medical office setting. The PFSR engages with the patient or guarantor to obtain pertinent information and answer any questions in an effort to ensure that all required demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility information is gathered and verified. Ensures all required notices and consent forms are signed accordingly.
Responsibilities:
Obtains pre-certification and authorization.Verifies insurance benefits including obtaining insurance card(s) and confirms coverage is active. Determines correct insurance filing order, if multiple insurance coverages are effective for that service.Explains polices including all regulatory and financial consent forms; secures all required signatures.May perform patient discharge functions including, but not limited to, review of after visit summary (AVS), future appointment scheduling, and referrals.Interviews patients and guarantors at the workstation or bedside to obtain all necessary information, including a copy of the patient or guarantor identification card.May confirm physician and prescription orders ensuring accuracy.May schedule walk-in appointments for services offered.Collects patient out-of-pocket responsibility per collection guidelines. Provides patient estimates as requested. Prepares and balances a daily deposit of all payment collections.Provides exceptional customer service and ensures all questions and concerns are addressed in a timely and courteous manner. May guide the patient to appropriate destination for services.
