Position Details:

Will work with individuals who have complex health needs or multiple chronic conditions, often requiring a high level of coordination and support to manage their care.  They focus on improving health outcomes, reducing hospital re-admissions, and ensuring patients receive appropriate and timely transitions of care. The role functions in a technical and non technical capacity to assess fitness of specimens for all levels of testing. This role also performs waived testing where designated.

• Effectively communicates and incorporates the Nursing and Organization's vision, goals, and initiatives at the unit and department level consistent with Magnet philosophy and environment.
• Supports Managers as they supervise assigned personnel within Nursing.
• Assists with the orientation, integration and education of new employees.
• Facilitates patient placement with triage and prioritization of patient bed assignment in collaboration with Patient Placement and patient care department staff members.
• Participates in the formulation of nursing policies and goals as well as policies affecting other departments.

Responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment, ensuring their proper functionality and sterility to prevent infection within a healthcare facility, adhering to strict guidelines and protocols established by regulatory agencies.

• Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
• Manually cleaning supplies of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment.
• Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
• Monitoring and operating sterilization equipment.
• Acts as a preceptor new employees.
• Examining supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.

• Assists in patient preparation, positioning, and completion of examinations under direct supervision until competency is achieved, for all surgical/mobile examinations, and repeat images to assure patient safety.
• Works under indirect supervision of a qualified technologist after achieving exam competency.
• Seeks instruction and demonstration of medical imaging techniques, practices, and processes from credentialed technologists.
• Observes a patient when required.
• Assists in patient transporting.
• Assists in ensuring all necessary supplies are available and stocked.
• Assists technical staff with any/all duties necessary for completion of imaging studies.
• Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care.
• Effectively uses Radiology Information System.
• Efficiently completes, reviews, and prepares paperwork and corroborates a patient’s clinical history with the procedure and ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
• Maintains confidentiality and an ethical relationship with all patients and medical records.
• Must be a first-year student actively attending an accredited educational radiologic technology program recognized by the JRC-ARRT, JRC-DMS, or accredited program recognized by the CCAHEP or CMA. ​
