PT - 16 hour, bi-weekly schedule working every other weekend.

$20.80 - $31.20Major Responsibilities:
- Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record that is utilized by all members of the healthcare team. Prevents creation of duplicate medical records that can cause treatment safety issues and billing problems. Follows and ensures compliance with the mandate of the organization’s accrediting bodies to use identifiers to positively identify a patient prior to the delivery of patient care to ensure patient safety.
- Checks in and registers patients; obtains and verifies complete demographic, guarantor, and insurance information; discusses and collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket patient responsibilities. Obtaining accurate information at the point of registration helps ensure timely payment to the organization and prevents billing issues and patient complaints. Maintains complete confidentiality regarding patient personal/financial information and medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Knows insurance basics and recognizes commercial and government plans. Understands which plans Advocate Health contracts with and when a statement of financial responsibility is needed. Understands and discusses financial information and obligations with patients. Knows how and when to refer patients to Financial Advocates.
- Has knowledge of which rules, forms and questions must be enforced to make sure Advocate Health remains compliant with government agencies and regulations. Examples are HIPAA, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), Consent for Treatment, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Important Message from Medicare (IMM), Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (MOON), Notice of Privacy Practices, Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ), Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN). Obtains patient or guarantor signatures as required.
- May schedule patient appointments: may also coordinate cancellations, reschedules, wait list requests, and recall requests. Provides accurate, detailed information regarding test preparations, patient arrival time, medication/food/beverage consumption guidelines, check-in procedures, directions to facility, etc.
- Creates a welcoming and professional environment for our patients and visitors by demonstrating extraordinary customer service. Greets patients and visitors and responds to routine requests for information. Answers telephone, screens calls, and takes messages. Offers various assistance to patients to include arranging transportation needs, providing directions, locating a wheelchair, coordinating interpreter services, etc.
- Monitors and works assigned electronic health record work queues, following the department’s approved process.

- Educate patients on the insurance coverage aspect of their care including managing the discussion for services that will not or may not be paid by their health plan.
- Interact with physicians and their staff to resolve issues related to patient care.
- Collect and manage payments including cash payments and follow security related to cash handling.
- Strong understanding and comfort level with computer systems. Demonstrated technical proficiency including experience with insurance verification/eligibility tools, EPIC electronic medical record, patient liability estimation tools, electronic email, Microsoft Office, internet browser and phone technology.
- Understanding of basic medical and insurance terms and abbreviations typically used in the patient scheduling and registration process.
- HIPAA-compliant and knowledgeable of applicable state and federal rules/regulations. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information according to internal policies.
- General understanding of health insurance: Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and commercial payers. Knowledge and ability to articulate explanations of Medicare/HIPAA/EMTALA rules and regulations and comply with updates on insurance pre-certification requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively act as a resource to other staff.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- This position may require travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
- Responds quickly to patient medical status and emergency situations occurring in clerical areas.
- CPR certification may be required based on service location.
- Notary training/licensure may be required as appropriate for service line and/or facility.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to a normal office environment with significant patient and public contact. May be exposed to ill or contagious patients.
- Must be able to transition from sitting to standing frequently. Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time and be physically mobile throughout the workday.
- Frequently lifts to 10 lbs. and occasionally lifts 20 lbs. or more. Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Occurs when moving equipment, supplies and/or when transporting patients through doorways, ramps and elevators.
- Escorts patients to nursing units or outpatient departments as necessary.
- Sensory requirements include vision, hearing and touch. Must also be able to speak clearly.
- Must be able to use hands with fine motor skills for keyboard data entry.
- May be asked to work a flexible schedule at times to meet the needs of the department.

- Assists Manager, Director, AVP in meeting performance goals and standards established for Patient Access Departments.
- Assist Manager in training of all registrars in all areas of patient access.
- Provides guidance and feedback on employee performance through rounding, auditing and screening of registration work and various computer reports.
- Registers and pre-registers patients as necessary to support the team.
- Assist Manager with the appropriate staffing of Patient Access areas.
- Assist Manager with completion of performance appraisals prior to due date.

- Assists manager in keeping current a departmental record (attendance and counseling sheets) on each employee which shall include:

Job Summary
The MRI Technologist I perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates MRI Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.
Essential Functions
- Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam. Contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
- Properly identify (Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets.
- Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR’s to obtain pertinent clinical history. Records medical history on requisitions. Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed.
- Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results.
- Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. On request, records contrast type and amount.
- Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
- Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient’s condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies.
- Performs MRI scanning and assists Physicians/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
- Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
- Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
- Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures. Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules.
- Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Documents contrast administration in the MAR.
- Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps area completely stocked. Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace.
- Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a MRI scan.
- Maintains knowledge of all MRI safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around magnetic fields
Minimum Job Requirements
Education, Certification / License, Work Experience
Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. Active enrollment in an MRI ARRT registry eligible or ARMRIT program required. MRI registry must be obtained within 1 year of hire. CPR certification required.

May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, being near moving equipment. Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation.

- Performs venipuncture and collects other specimens form newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol. Collaborates with patient care regarding difficult venipunctures.
- Receives and sorts lab specimens. Packages and tracks specimens for transport. Processes specimens for testing including centrifuging, aliquoting, and storing samples. Loads instruments while maintaining proper specimen identification.
- Performs limited testing under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), 1988 guidelines according to established policies and procedures. Performs laboratory result entry in the computer system.
- May assists physicians with patient procedures and prepare basic histology stains and uses special handling and knowledge to process pathology send-outs and referrals. Uses specialized knowledge for cleaning and routine general maintenance for histology equipment (cryostat, grossing station). Completes the needed requirements for CAP histology checklist.
- May support histology and/or cytology services. Accessions and tracks surgical specimens in Pathology computer system.
- May perform skin puncture and port access functions to obtain specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol, priority and scheduled draw times. Maintains current knowledge and skills necessary to insert and remove port access devices.
- Performs clerical functions which may include answering telephone calls, patient registration, payment collection, data entry of demographic and insurance information, copying, faxing, laboratory result entry, generating and distributing reports, and/or ordering/delivering supplies and/or equipment.
- Assists in transfusion dept., and performs tasks associated with this specialty.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Major Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee portions of the Accreditation Environment of Care (TJC), and/or Physical Environment (DNV) Safety programs for multiple Advocate facilities. Act as liaison for all chapters (Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials/Waste, Clinical Engineering, Fire Safety and Utilities) within the program. Coordinate and chair the Environment of Care or Physical Environment Committee, maintain committee agendas and minutes, communicate safety updates to committee. Assists with, Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA), Environmental Compliance (EPA), Construction Safety, and Operations activities to maintain constant readiness for surveys and inspections; serves as a safety point of contact during federal, state, local and organizational surveys, and inspections. Supports regulatory agency personnel during compliance inspections.
- Interfaces with Advocate Facility Administration and Department Leadership to oversee special projects as directed by Safety Leadership and Facility Administration. Presents safety programs, safety updates, and/or training to leadership, physicians, vendors/contractors, and teammates. Discuss safety and risk assessment impacts to operational changes that has effect on patient safety, teammate safety, visitor safety, and life safety.
- Initiate and disseminate PCRA (Pre-Construction Risk Assessment), ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) and ILSM (Interim Life Safety Measures) documentation for projects at multiple facilities. Act as liaison between Advocate Facility Administration, Clinical Departments, and Planning Designing Construction teams, providing communication to ensure overall safety of the environment for patients, teammates, visitors, vendors, and contractors
- Generate and submit physical environment reports, safety reports, risk assessments, and any corrective action plans from regulatory and Accreditation surveys (Joint Commission, DNV, DHSR, CMS, CARF, CAP, CLIA) to Leadership and appropriate departments. Educate and coordinate corrective actions for any deficiencies identified during surveys, inspections, and assessments.
- Manages and completes various internal inspections of the physical environment, performs safety rounds of departments and grounds, creates work orders and purchase orders to address deficiencies and corrective actions.
- Assist with proper handling, storage, documenting, inspecting, and transportation of hazardous waste/materials within facilities. Respond to hazardous material spills and emergencies.
- Works collaboratively with other service lines to accomplish initiatives impacting patient care, patient safety, teammates, contractors, and visitor safety. To include but not limited to injury/illness prevention and corrective actions, eyewash compliance, product recalls, fire drills.

- Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record that is utilized by all members of the healthcare team. Prevents creation of duplicate medical records that can cause treatment safety issues and billing problems. Follows and ensures compliance with the mandate of the organization’s accrediting bodies to use identifiers to positively identify a patient prior to the delivery of patient care to ensure patient safety.
- Checks in and registers patients; obtains and verifies complete demographic, guarantor, and insurance information; discusses and collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket patient responsibilities. Obtaining accurate information at the point of registration helps ensure timely payment to the organization and prevents billing issues and patient complaints. Maintains complete confidentiality regarding patient personal/financial information and medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Knows insurance basics and recognizes commercial and government plans. Understands which plans Advocate Health contracts with and when a statement of financial responsibility is needed. Understands and discusses financial information and obligations with patients. Knows how and when to refer patients to Financial Advocates.
- Has knowledge of which rules, forms and questions must be enforced to make sure Advocate Health remains compliant with government agencies and regulations. Examples are HIPAA, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), Consent for Treatment, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Important Message from Medicare (IMM), Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (MOON), Notice of Privacy Practices, Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ), Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN). Pay Range:
$19.80 - $29.70Essential Functions
- Exemplify caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience
- Provide exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment and possess the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Manages patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience
- Encourages patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process
- Enters and maintains confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter Assists billing functions accurately and/or directs to appropriate billing office
- Demonstrates proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations
- Monitors inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced office environment. Should be able to bend and lift up to 10 lbs.
Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED require. Computer experience required. Customer relations experience required. Experience with Medical Records Software preferred, Front desk practice experience preferred.
