Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures proper patient identification and maintains patient safety, privacy, confidentiality and follows guidelines under HIPAA.
• Obtains and records vital signs, pain screens, weights and heights accurately into Electronic Medical Records (EMR).Reports changes and/or abnormalities in vital signs; findings that are outside of defined parameters; and changes in patient’s conditions to the nursing/medical staff in a timely manner.
• Obtains specimens (urine, stool, sputum, etc.) and ensures accurate labeling in presence of patient.Instructs patients/family members in collecting specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy and EKG as applicable and is competent in the two patient identifier practice.
• May precept with specific training.
• Assists with disease center specific procedural needs as applicable.
• Transports patients, medical records, specimens, blood components, equipment and supplies in accordance with Institute policy.
• Ensures that all patients on schedule are accounted for and communicate with providers/patients and colleagues as to approximate wait times.
• May be required to assist with research specific patient data entry as required.
• Assures that all clinical areas have an adequate stock of medical supplies, equipment, and forms.
• Assist with medical record preparation.
• Properly cleans and maintains equipment and patient care environment.
• Maintains a working knowledge of current computer systems used in clinical areas.
• Understands and utilizes the telephone/pager systems, including text paging staff, call system and emergency response system.
• Provides proactive instruction and time expectations to patient and family.
• Communicates patient and family status difficulties and concerns to appropriate staff.
• Attends mandatory training and education sessions, completes mandatory annual competency assessments and follows Institute policies.
• Accepts additional responsibilities based on the changing needs of patients, families, staff and unit.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
• Clinical Qualification:
o 2 years of equivalent experience in a medical setting.
• Developing technical expertise, applies Institute policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
o In some cases, Nurse Students in an accredited Bachelor’s program with at least 2 completed clinical rotations may be considered.
• Applies Institute policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.Works on problems of limited scope.Builds stable working relationships internally.
License/Certification/Registration Required:
• Phlebotomy certification may be preferred based on location (Yawkey 2, Satellites).
• BLS Certification required within 60 days of hire.

Key Responsibilities
Model Management & Operations: Oversee the establishment, maintenance, expansion, and quality control of a large repository of patient-derived models. Manage model validations and ensure high standards for reproducibility and clinical relevance.
Translational Research & Biomarker Development: Design and execute studies using patient-derived models to support biomarker discovery, drug sensitivity testing, and mechanism-of-action investigations. Integrate multi-omics data (scRNA-seq, proteomics, etc.) with functional assays.
Leadership & Team Management: Co-direct daily operations of the CPDM, mentor junior scientists and research associates, and foster a collaborative team environment. Contribute to strategic planning for center growth, resource allocation, and technology adoption.
Collaborations & Project Oversight: Serve as a scientific liaison for internal DFCI investigators, external academic partners, and industry collaborators. Manage IND-enabling studies, assay validation (IHC, flow cytometry, multiplex IF, label-free FPM), and large-scale biospecimen handling.
Data Analysis & Innovation:Utilize and develop bioinformatics tools, cBioPortal, DepMap, and AI/ML approaches to analyze complex datasets and advance functional precision medicine platforms.
Grant & Publication Support: Contribute to grant writing, progress reports, and high-impact publications in journals.
Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure adherence to regulatory, ethical, and institutional guidelines for human subjects research and biospecimen management.
Qualifications
Education: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Cancer Biology, or a closely related field.
Experience:
5+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience in patient-derived models (PDOs/PDXs/organoids) or functional precision medicine assays.
Demonstrated leadership in managing large model repositories, validations, and multi-omics workflows.
Strong publication record in translational oncology or related fields.
Technical Skills:Expertise in 3D cell culture, organoid techniques, PDX models, high-throughput drug screening, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, multiplex imaging, and bioinformatics (R/Linux, scRNA-seq analysis preferred).
Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and collaborate across disciplines. Experience in a core facility, center, or translational research environment is highly desirable.
Other: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment at a leading cancer research institute.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in cancer biology.
Familiarity with AI-enabled translational science, companion diagnostics (CDx), or functional precision medicine platforms.
Prior experience in lab automation, digitization, ELN/LIMS implementation.

Trinity Health Of New England is seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) to support our growing Outpatient Oncology & Infusion Services team across Hartford and Glastonbury, Connecticut. As the Assistant Nurse Manager, you will partner closely with clinical and operational leaders to support day-to-day operations of our outpatient cancer and infusion centers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care for oncology and hematology patients.
What You'll Do
Support daily clinical operations, staffing, and patient flow across multiple outpatient oncology and infusion locations.
Assist in leading, mentoring, and developing registered nurses, medical assistants, and support staff.
Promote a culture of patient safety, quality, service excellence, and evidence-based practice.
Provide clinical oversight and serve as a resource for complex patient care situations.
Partner with leadership to achieve quality, compliance, patient experience, and operational goals.

Qualifications
Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

Prior Charge Nurse, Lead RN, Preceptor, or Leadership experience preferred.
BLS certification required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Expertise
- Demonstrates expertise in areas of oncology clinical practice, by participating in patient care to identify opportunities for improvement, assess staff performance, and facilitate implementation of new practices.
- Supports nurses in the management of symptom distress related to cancer and/or its treatment based on advanced knowledge of the etiology of cancer, the rationale for treatment, patient and family responses and needs, and associated nursing interventions.
- Provides expertise in the assessment of patient and family learning needs, provision of educational strategies, and evaluation of the effects of teaching strategies for general and specified oncology patient populations.
- May provide direct patient care, consult with other nurses or clinical staff about specific patients, and make recommendations for interventions and plan of care.
- Collaborates and consults with nurses and others to influence nursing practices and improve care outcomes within a specific unit or service and/or across Nursing and Patient Care Services (NPCS).
Education
- Demonstrates leadership skills through the coordination of education, training, and competency assessment activities within the clinical coverage area.
- Participates in local and national professional activities and organizations to promote the educational and professional growth of self and others within DFCI and the community.
- Monitors compliance related to mandatory staff education.
- Educates staff on policies and procedures, supporting practice changes based on evidence-based guidelines.
- Implements educational programs and workshops to support the ongoing professional development of nursing staff, utilizing a variety of educational methods, including simulation.
- Serves as a nurse planner for ANCC Accredited Provider Unit.
- Supports unit leadership with the coordination and evaluation of unit-based orientation for new employees.
- Collaborates with the Nurse Director to design orientation schedules, select preceptors, conduct weekly check-ins, and ensure completion of orientation records.

The Cancelas/Singh Laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to study hematopoietic stem cell biology and blood formation in health and disease. Our research spans signal transduction, mitochondrial biology, stem cell aging, inflammation, bone marrow regeneration, clonal hematopoiesis, and interactions between hematopoietic cells and the bone marrow microenvironment.
We seek a creative and collaborative scientist with a doctoral degree in biology or a related discipline, completed within the past two years. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in hematopoiesis and stem cell research, demonstrated scientific productivity, and a record of first-author publication. Applicants with experience in hematopoiesis, mouse genetics, flow cytometry, mitochondrial biology, advanced imaging, and/or bioinformatics are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, laboratory staff, and bioinformaticians. Under the mentorship of Drs. Cancelas and Singh, the candidate will:
Design and conduct experiments addressing fundamental mechanisms of hematopoietic cell function.
Perform functional and molecular studies using primary murine and human hematopoietic tissues.
Apply cellular, molecular, genetic, metabolic, imaging, and computational approaches to investigate hematopoietic biology.
Develop and use ex vivo and in vivo models of normal and malignant hematopoiesis.
Analyze, interpret, and communicate complex experimental data.
Maintain complete experimental records and accurate, organized, and reproducible research data.
Collaborate effectively with experimental, computational, and clinical investigators across multiple institutions.
Present findings at laboratory meetings and scientific conferences.
Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, research reports, and grant applications.
Participate actively in the intellectual and collaborative environment of the laboratory and institution.
Qualifications
PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in biology, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, immunology, hematology, cancer biology, or a related field.
Doctoral degree received within the past two years.
Strong interest in hematopoietic stem cell biology, blood formation, and/or bone marrow microenvironment research.
Demonstrated record of scientific productivity, including first-author publication.

2. Perform pre procedural assessment with patients by obtaining medical history via pre procedural phone call to provide patient specific instructions:
a. Assess safety and tolerability of procedural sedation.
b. Perform medication reconciliation.
c. Review procedural sedation history.
d. Provide pre procedural instructions, providing the patient with opportunity to ask clinical questions without requiring separate call back.
3. Create patient specific premedication regiment in collaboration with procedure APP.
4. Obtain IV access and preprocedural lab work.
5. Administered preprocedural procedural medications, titrating according to specific patient needs. Also administer chemotherapy and performs procedures safely and efficiently in accordance with Institute policy. May administer blood transfusions.
6. Work as co-sign to Intrathecal Chemotherapy administered by APP.
7. Assists in emergency nursing procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient`s physical condition.
8. Maintains awareness of procedural suite activities and works with the Procedure Suite team to maximize workflow.
9. Keeps abreast of changing techniques in procedural nursing and maintains a high level of expertise in critical care.
10. Responsible for intraprocedural monitoring of patients not limited to maintain active airway, assesses effective circulation and respiration via capnography and telemetry monitoring.
11. Safely recover patients post sedation, perform discharge teaching, and evaluate safety of patient discharge.
12. Coordinate correct research specimen collection with research coordinators.
13. Maintain Joint commission readiness.
14. Provide as needed support for biopsy specimen collection when not acting in a procedural sedation role.

- Provides administrative support and coordination for all aspects of patient care for new patients, primarily focused on supporting incoming telephone calls
- Triages issues and answering general questions, with the goal of resolving requests in real time

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform cell separation techniques and prepare cells, plasma and other sample types for banking of research samples.

- Under the direction of the operations management team, provides appointment scheduling ranging in complexity from one physician appointment to multiple care provider appointments in accordance with department scheduling guidelines for new and/or existing patients.
- Performs front desk check-in and check-out functions
- Obtains detailed clinical information face-to-face, by telephone or electronically.
- May provide basic information regarding the need for insurance referral(s).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pharmacy Technician Duties:
Practices as a pharmacy technician in accordance with all federal, state, DFCI and Joint Commission policies, regulations and standards.
Fills medication orders according to policy, while gaining proficiency with advanced preparations.
Ensures timely completion of medication orders and/or supplies.
Utilizes multiple systems such as EHR (Electronic Health Record, Inventory Management Systems and other clinical research systems to complete and document duties. Troubleshoots as necessary.
Maintains the Pharmacy inventory: sorting, stocking, rotation of stock, expiration date managing, and cycle counting. Performs and document quality control steps as required.

Research Technician Duties:
- Receives, barcodes, transfers, and destroys investigational drugs in research pharmacy accountability system.
- Assists in monitor visit activities (meet with internal and external monitors and responds to questions regarding inventory control and documentation). Performs sterile compounding of hazardous drugs in compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, DFCI policies and procedures and research protocols, including complex compounding processes such as serial dilution, mixing multiple ingredients, etc.
- Ensures compliance with shared DF/HCC policies regarding investigational storage, handling, transferring of investigational product.
- Files all paperwork pertaining to inventory control activities.

Minimum Education:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Delivers expert, evidence-based nursing care to patients and families.
1. Implements nursing process:
a. Assesses patient and family needs.
b. Analyzes assessment data to develop and support clinically accurate diagnoses.
c. Plans care by establishing goals with measurable outcomes.
d. Implements the plan of care.
e. Evaluates the patient’s response to interventions.
2. Documents care according to Institute and regulatory agencies’ requirements.
3. Administers medications, which may include chemotherapy, and performs procedures safely and efficiently in accordance with Institute policy. May administer blood transfusions.
4. Evaluates educational and psychological needs of patient and family, and incorporates identified needs into the plan of care.
5. Educates patient and family regarding various aspects and treatment modalities of disease, which may include chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
6. Recognizes and responds to emergency situations appropriately. Maintains BLS certification.
7. Identifies appropriate community resources to promote continuity of care and makes appropriate referrals.
8. Complies with accepted standards of professional nursing practice, as well as with all licensure/registration requirements applicable to the nursing role.
B. Establishes rapport with patients and families from a variety of cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
1. Interacts with patients and families in a caring and compassionate manner respecting the need for privacy and confidentiality.
2. Develops approaches to problem solving which meet the individual needs of the patients and families.
3. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific care and support to the populations served.
4. Fosters an environment that is sensitive to the needs of diverse populations, including but not limited to culture, ethnicity, gender, and age.
C. Manages the environment of patient care.
1. Monitors the environment of care with attention to patient safety, and assures compliance with regulatory agency standards.
2. Complies with Institute, Nursing and Patient Care Services, and unit policies, procedures, work rules and standards of conduct.
3. Adheres to the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (ANA, 2001) in all aspects of professional practice.
D. Contributes to the formulation and achievement of goals on the unit, within the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services, and the Institute.
1. Assists in defining goals and developing systems and work processes for the unit, the Division of Nursing and the Institute.
2. Participates in unit, program-based, and divisional committees, councils, and initiatives.
3. Demonstrates flexibility in setting and changing priorities. Accepts additional responsibilities as needed.
4. Participates in QA/QI projects for the unit and the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services.
5. Supports research activities within the unit, Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services, and the Institute.
E. Works collaboratively and functions as an effective member of the health care team.
1. Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with peers and co-workers. Effectively addresses and manages conflicts.
2. Demonstrates effectiveness as a contributing member to the multidisciplinary health care team.
3. Delegates as appropriate, and supervises assistive personnel in their provision of patient care.
4. Functions in the charge nurse role when necessary, collaborating with staff and coordinating flow of patients into the infusion areas.
F. Seeks opportunities to foster professional growth.
1. Identifies areas for professional growth. Formulates professional goals, objectives and methods for accomplishing these.
2. Attends inservices, workshops and seminars. Shares information gained with colleagues.

G. Procedural Nurse Responsibilities
1. Delivers expert, evidence-based nursing care to patients and families.
2. Perform pre procedural assessment with patients by obtaining medical history via pre procedural phone call to provide patient specific instructions:
a. Assess safety and tolerability of procedural sedation.
b. Perform medication reconciliation.
c. Review procedural sedation history.
d. Provide pre procedural instructions, providing the patient with opportunity to ask clinical questions without requiring separate call back.
3. Create patient specific premedication regiment in collaboration with procedure APP.
4. Obtain IV access and preprocedural lab work.
5. Administered preprocedural procedural medications, titrating according to specific patient needs. Also administer chemotherapy and performs procedures safely and efficiently in accordance with Institute policy. May administer blood transfusions.
6. Work as co-sign to Intrathecal Chemotherapy administered by APP.
7. Assists in emergency nursing procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient`s physical condition.
8. Maintains awareness of procedural suite activities and works with the Procedure Suite team to maximize workflow.
9. Keeps abreast of changing techniques in procedural nursing and maintains a high level of expertise in critical care.
10. Responsible for intraprocedural monitoring of patients not limited to maintain active airway, assesses effective circulation and respiration via capnography and telemetry monitoring.
11. Safely recover patients post sedation, perform discharge teaching, and evaluate safety of patient discharge.
12. Coordinate correct research specimen collection with research coordinators.
13. Maintain Joint commission readiness.
14. Provide as needed support for biopsy specimen collection when not acting in a procedural sedation role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and ability to make independent decisions.
• Ability to function in a busy work setting with patients with complex needs.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Education: Associate degree, Nursing. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred. If Associate degree in Nursing, must complete BSN degree within 4 years. Experience: Completion of the Oncology Nurse Residency Program (ONRP) or 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse. Ambulatory and/or oncology experience preferred.
License/Certification/Registration Required:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or State of New Hampshire as appropriate required. AHA BLS required (AHA ACLS accepted as minimum requirement). Professional nursing certification preferred (OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, RN-BC).
