Under the direction of the Manager and Supervisor of Imaging Support Services, this mission critical position is responsible for departmental administrative tasks, such as patient reception duties, organizing necessary materials for the patient’s imaging procedure, review of complex patient appointment sets, ordering lab work and additional tests associated with imaging procedures. The Imaging Services Coordinator (ISC) works in a busy environment with a high patient volume, managing complex tasks while balancing multiple real-time priorities, and, when appropriate, acting as the escalation point for issues presenting at main reception. The ISC is an ambassador of the DFCI patient experience while efficiently managing the patient check-in process; uploading outside imaging into PACS, being responsible for offering exemplary customer service and resolving and triaging issues presented during both face-to-face and telephone interactions.

Inpatient Oncology Float Pool

Shift: Nights

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct oncology nursing care, including comprehensive assessment, individualized care planning, symptom management, and evaluation of patient outcomes for adult oncology patients and families.
• Administer antineoplastic agents and supportive therapies per protocols and ONS standards; verify orders, complete independent double checks, and monitor for and manage infusion reactions and adverse events.

The Venous Access Nurse's responsibilities include vein assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a complex patient population. The Venous Access Nurse provides patient and family education and psychosocial and emotional support. He/she is a member of a multidisciplinary care team that requires effective communication and collaboration with co-workers and staff at the Institute, BWH, and other collaborating institutions and agencies. The Venous Access Nurse identifies his/her own professional goals and learning needs. The role requires IV clinical expertise, ability to assess veins and make recommendations to providers for other access devices based on the vein assessment, critical thinking, collaborative practice as a Venous Access Nurse within a cancer center, line care maintenance and troubleshooting, knowledge of vein preservation principles and techniques, excellent communication skills and an understanding of the principles and practices of clinical research. • Data Analysis: Performs routine data analyses and report writing. Responsible for assuring quality of data, reproducibility of analyses and proper interpretation of results by working with others to implement appropriate definitions of and coding rules for data items, principled analyses and clear communication of results.
• Study Design: Responsible for statistical aspects of study design, including sample size, significance level, power, and the identification of appropriate tests and/or models for different types of studies. The Registered Nurse (RN) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute provides evidence-based oncology nursing care across inpatient care units. The RN is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, developing care plans, and ensuring the safe administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive therapies. Additionally, the RN is involved in symptom management, patient and family education, and coordinating care within the interdisciplinary team. Inpatient Oncology Float Pool

Shift: Days

Schedule: 36 hours per week, with rotating weekends

This position is eligible for full time benefits

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct oncology nursing care, including comprehensive assessment, individualized care planning, symptom management, and evaluation of patient outcomes for adult oncology patients and families.
• Administer antineoplastic agents and supportive therapies per protocols and ONS standards; verify orders, complete independent double checks, and monitor for and manage infusion reactions and adverse events.
• Manage central venous access devices (e.g., ports, PICCs); perform access, maintenance, blood draws, and blood product transfusions per policy; ensure safe use of infusion equipment and PPE.
• Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment plans, self-care, side-effect management, and discharge instructions; coordinate multidisciplinary resources and community referrals.
• Document care in Epic in accordance with regulatory and institutional standards; maintain accurate medication administration records, flowsheets, and patient education documentation.
• Participate in quality and safety activities (e.g., safety huddles, infection prevention, hazardous drug handling, Joint Commission readiness) and support clinical research protocols as applicable (e.g., protocol adherence, specimen handling, adverse event reporting).
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, and research staff; contribute to effective team communication, handoffs, and patient throughput.
• May serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or mentor; provides functional direction to licensed and unlicensed support personnel in accordance with scope of practice and institutional policies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration per ONS guidelines; working knowledge of oncology pharmacology and side-effect profiles.
• Competence in central line care and infusion therapy; ability to administer and monitor blood products per policy.
• Ability to recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies (e.g., infusion reactions, febrile neutropenia, tumor lysis syndrome) and escalate care appropriately.
• Strong patient education skills with ability to tailor communication to diverse populations and varying health literacy levels; commitment to culturally competent, trauma-informed care.
• Proficiency with EMR systems (Epic preferred); accurate and timely clinical documentation and electronic medication administration.
• Knowledge of infection prevention, hazardous drug handling (USP <800>), PPE requirements, and universal precautions.
• Effective triage, prioritization, and time management skills for varying acuity in a fast-paced ambulatory environment.
• Collaborative team skills; ability to work across interdisciplinary teams and support clinical research activities.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Associate degree, Nursing.A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is strongly preferred, and candidates with an associate degree must complete a BSN within 4 years.1 year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.Acute care nursing experience preferred; oncology/hematology experience in an Inpatient or ambulatory infusion clinic setting preferred. Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., Epic) preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Required:

Current unrestricted Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required.ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate required or obtained within 6 months of hire (role-dependent).Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred depending on work area.

The Infection Preventionist helps to coordinate all aspects of the Infection Control Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) under the supervision of the Director Infection Control with the goal of reducing the risks of acquiring and transmitting infections among patients, staff, and visitors. This position also serves to provide education and consultation regarding infection control practices. Locations include the inpatient hospital, the Longwood Ambulatory clinics, the Network Campuses and the Dana-Farber Community Cancer Care sites. The scope of practice includes meeting the infection control needs of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct on-going surveillance using Center of Disease Control (CDC) infection criteria, documentation, and investigation of nosocomial infections through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, post-discharge surveillance, and autopsy findings
• Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods, including risk stratification, to identify target population, analyze trends and risk factors, and design and evaluate prevention and control strategies.
• Investigates outbreaks/exposures of communicable diseases and recommends control measures in Hem/Onc/BMT inpatients.
• Coordinate inpatient and outpatient infection control activities for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute including the inpatient hospital, the Longwood Ambulatory clinics, the Ambulatory Satellites and the Dana-Farber Community Cancer Care sites. 
• Recommend isolation precautions as required.
• Assist in the organization of regularly scheduled Hospital Infection Control meetings and dissemination of recommendations hospital-wide
• Enforce infection control policies and procedures as designated by the DFCI Infection Control Committee.
• Initiate quality improvement activities as indicated.
• Assess environmental control through surveillance of water supply systems as needed, air pressure relationships for high-risk environmental monitoring
• Conduct environmental rounds in the outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Serve as a resource to the Occupational Health Services.
• Perform periodic analysis of occupational exposures to blood and body fluids in collaborations with OHS and the Biosafety Officer, and recommends change in practice, equipment, etc., as indicated.
• Monitor infections in staff members.
• Assure compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Develop and implement programs in collaboration with the Hospital Epidemiologist and Director, Patient Safety & Infection Control in response to new regulations.
• Develop infection control policies and procedures and revises them as indicated.
• Recommend infection control procedural changes and new products.
• Report communicable diseases to the Boston Public Health Commission, the MA Department of Public Health and other public health agencies as required.
• Participate in providing all education activities for infection control which include:
  • General Orientation, Nursing and Patient Care Services, and Bone Marrow Transplant classes monthly,
  • Provide infection control education to clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with staff in providing formal and informal patient education
