Bring your passion for Behavioral Health to Banner Health! Banner Behavioral Health Hospital - BBHH (in Scottsdale, AZ) was remodeled and expanded in 2017, providing new, state-of-the art units for our patients and staff! Banner Behavioral Health Hospital is a voluntary facility for adults and adolescents. We are dedicated to providing safe, confidential, and compassionate treatment with customized treatment plans to meet each patient's needs.
Our RN positions will help support our Adult patient population at this facility. Our RN team helps provide 24/7 crisis intervention and therapeutic services in a medically safe, recovery-focused environment.
Full Time Day Shift hours will be from 7am - 7pm . 3 shifts per week and will include weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage as well as enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential!

For more than four decades, Banner Behavioral Health has provided 24/7 crisis intervention and therapeutic services in a medically safe, recovery-focused environment. Banner Behavioral Health has 156 licensed inpatient beds and is located in Scottsdale, AZ. Our focus is on adults and adolescents dealing with mental health and/or chemical dependency issues who voluntarily seek help. Our highly skilled and compassionate staff are dedicated to providing a therapeutic healing environment and excellent health care experience.POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.
3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
8. In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.
9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
In a Home Health setting, team members must be able to operate personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license. Auto insurance coverage is also required to be active and maintained.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral or BUMG, BUMCT in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working at BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working in any Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health role in Arizona must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

- Identify, investigate and verify sources of reimbursement and make recommendations based on the information obtained. They will also assess potential third-party liability cases to determine who is the primary payor and relay the appropriate billing requirements to the patients accounts staff and operations. - Provide pricing information to explain the financial responsibility to patients. - Be proficient in the use of the computerized resources and data entry programs involving proper processing and qualifying of patients with HME business line needs. Monitor and work all necessary insurance verification reports for assigned products lines and assigned payors. Runs, collects and tabulates data and submits to management selected and assigned reports.
- Identify, investigate and verify sources of reimbursement and make recommendations based on the information obtained. The team member will obtain and document payor eligibility information for each new referral, addition to service and re-admission and determine if payor's coverage requirements are met for services or equipment. They will also assess potential third-party liability cases to determine who is the primary payor and relay the appropriate billing requirements to the patients accounts staff and operations. Other requirements include checking with referral sources for any intermittent services that might be need by the patient and suggest companion items for the equipment ordered to better service our patient.
- Provide pricing information to explain the financial responsibility to patients. This requires the team member to assess the patients ability to pay and negotiate payment plans and determine their financial risk at the time of referral. If necessary also, recommend appropriate action and notify patient and/or family of the expected financial responsibility at the start of care.
- Participates in performance improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives. Serve as a member of department division or system performance or process improvement group as appropriate. Work with management to implement change and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Continuously updates knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and managed care of the complex and ever evolving coverage requirements and guidelines.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in medical entry, claims processing, HME business line, home care, insurance verification, home care customer service or other healthcare related position. Knowledge of HME/RT equipment. Understanding of third party payors, including Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance companies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Regularly interfaces with representatives of third party payers
- Wide range of contacts with hospitals, long term care facilities, rehab and therapy facilities, physician’s offices, case managers, utilization review managers, patients and their families. Communication is both verbal and written.
- Determine acceptance of patient with low financial risk, high risk cases and appropriately search out the resources.
- Prioritization of insurance verification and prior authorization to ensure department goals and objectives are obtained.
- Monitor all managed care patients' supply orders and re-orders to insure that adequate and current authorization is in the data base so as to enhance quick reimbursement.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems appropriately seek out further assistance if needed.
- Handle confidential information on every client.
- Function under tight time constraints to verify insurance benefits before delivery of equipment, of data entry of referral information necessary for delivery ticket with proper
- qualifying diagnoses for each piece of ordered equipment.
- Heavy volume of daily incoming and outgoing phone calls and documents must be processed timely and accurately. Very fast paced. Strong data entry and phone skills.

Your Job: In this high-performing, fast-paced, and challenging GME Coordinator position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide administrative support by acting as the liaison between MHS training programs, medical students, PA's, residents, fellows and medical schools. Maintains compliance with the ACGME/AOA, Fellowship Council and MHS requirements for accredited rotations. Your Job Responsibilities: • Functions as the first contact liaison to students, faculty, residents/fellows, and school administration for any issues or questions relating to the clerkship. • Maintains compliance for accredited rotations with The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and with The American Osteopathic Association Recognition (AOA). • Accepts applications from site rotators, verifies malpractice coverage and all biographical information. • Supervises the Visiting Student Application System (VSAS). The coordinator will update every academic year to receive applications for that year. • Utilizes New Innovations/Medhub for managing medical students which includes tools for scheduling, clerkship evaluations, case log requirements and tracking. • Monitors the student evaluation and grading process and maintains complete and accurate student files. Prepares and administers grades for end of rotation exams. Assists in preparation of letters of recommendation as needed and prepares and distributes any post-rotation verification, if needed. • Understands the curriculum, educational goals, policies, and standards of the clerkship and the medical school. Coordinates the orientation of medical students. • Manages daily operations of the clerkship, organizes and prioritizes necessary tasks, initiates changes and resolves issues as they arise. • Maintain volunteer faculty appointments with UTSW Medical Center for rotating medical students. • Secures EPIC and online access as needed for rotations from the IT Department. • Establish lecture year format for required curriculum.
