*Job Overview*
The Charge Nurse plays a critical role in overseeing nursing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care within a healthcare facility. This position requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Charge Nurse will coordinate patient care activities, support nursing staff, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote optimal patient outcomes.

*Duties*

* Supervise and lead nursing staff during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
* Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
* Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition, providing appropriate interventions.
* Ensure accurate medical documentation is maintained for all patients.
* Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
* Provide guidance and support in emergency situations, utilizing knowledge of emergency medicine protocols.
* Assist with specimen collection processing as needed.
* Support the training and development of nursing staff in areas such as IV infusion techniques and infectious disease care.
* Maintain a safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control standards.

*Skills*

* Proficient in medical documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth.
* Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.
* Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center preferred.
* Ability to lift patients safely and assist with mobility as required.
* Knowledge of emergency medicine procedures and protocols.
* Competence in specimen collection processing techniques.
* Expertise in IV infusion administration and monitoring.
