Oncology Infusion Patient Care Assistant - Full-Time (80 hours per pay period), Monday-Friday 8 am-430 pm, Bronson Hematology and Oncology - Battle CreekUnder the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and in accordance with defined policies and procedures for the unit, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides technical patient care to a defined patient population as assigned by the Registered Nurse. Duties may include the performance of basic technical skills not requiring licensure, such as, but not limited to: gathering patient data, assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), transporting patients, supporting department maintenance activities (stocking patient rooms, moving equipment, ordering and procuring supplies, etc.), providing basic customer services (directions, visitor control, and other functions as needed). Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. .
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Previous experience and CNA license preferred
Obtain BLS Certification by the end of the orientation period. Maintain BLS certification.
For BCOM Only: Successful completion of Certified Nurse Aide Exam within 4 months of hire
A PCA/tech may be asked to assist in a patient safety assistant role while maintaining PCA/tech duties for that assigned patient.
Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred
Skill and proficiency in oral and written grammar, communication and basic mathematics.
Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time. Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
• Provides information, direction, and assistance as appropriate
• Maintains patient/employee safety by following controlled access policies
• Communicates in a timely manner with the RN regarding patient status, interventions completed, data collected and pertinent input to facilitate care planning
• Answers call lights, phones, or intercom system to determine patients' needs
• Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help
• Provides appropriate assistance to the patient during his/her activities of daily living
• Prepares patients for surgery and/or procedures properly
• Reviews plan of care at beginning of shift with RN and PRN for every assigned patient
• Accompanies patients for diagnostic tests, at discharge and/or assists patients to ambulate
• Turns and repositions patients using safe patient handling techniques
• Obtains vital patient information as directed (i.e., temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food/fluid intake/output, and calorie counts)
• Documents findings in EMR in a timely, accurate and concise manner
• Participates in the Patient Admission Process through timely and accurate performance of assigned duties
• Provides skilled technical care according to unit-specific and generic structure standards, protocols and procedures, prescribed medical interventions, and nursing guidelines as delegated by the RN
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times
• Assumes responsibility for own growth and development; attends staff meetings
• Manages incoming tubes from tube station and deliver meds or other items to the RN or medication room
• Meets Bronson’s Standards of Excellence
• Supports the goals of the unit and participates in department performance improvement
• Follows organizational guidelines for effective hand hygiene consistently
• Restocks supplies as appropriate and stores equipment in defined locations
• Maintains unsupervised access to the unit medication room(s) for stocking and/or retrieving supplies
Qualifications specific to NICU
Trained in Unit Dose Feeds. Performs a variety of tasks that relate to preparing, portioning, labeling, and delivering patient feedings per feeding order. PCA's must adhere to all food safety/sanitation regulations and standards established by the hospital
For Bronson Lakeview Hospital and Bronson South Haven Hospital:
The PCA is responsible for completing the Word day CBL –“Swing beds”. This is an annual CBL that describes the difference in a swing bed patient versus an in-patient or observation patient. The PCA will understand the documentation differences and the specific care required for each individual swing bed patient.
Bronson South Haven Hospital and Bronson Lakeview Hospital employees who are approved to work in a Swing Bed Facility only: Employees may be expected to cover shifts at Bronson Lakeview Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital depending on patient acuity and staffing needs.

Oncology Infusion RN - Full Time (80 hours per pay period) Monday-Friday 8 am-430 pm, Bronson Oncology and Hematology - Battle CreekUnder general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge by the following: utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation; coordinating the care provided by other professionals; delegating selected acts, tasks or functions that fall within the scope of professional nursing practice and the abilities of patient care assistants and universal service assistants; providing selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient's level of acuity and complexity of care required; and documenting and communicating during each tour of duty the patient's response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Bronson South Haven Specific- Effective July 1, 2017 all new hires are expected to successfully obtain their BSN within 8 years of hire date.
Bronson South Haven Specific:
Emergency Department: SALT triage, ESI Triage, and NIH Stroke Scale to be completed within 90 days of hire date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC only required for FT and part -time nurses) within 6 months of hire date. Special Care Unit: All nurses in department will need to have Pediatric Advance Life Support certification within 6 months of hire.
RNs in Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby/Antepartum at BMH & BBC Specific: The Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification through PQF or NCC is required within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring
Current driver's license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required for BAH

Position Summary:
Performs the full range of duties required to assist the radiologists during special invasive and non-invasive radiographic scans and performs a diverse range of other diagnostic radiology work on a wide variety of patients. The RN is responsible for completing the Workday CBL –“Swing beds”. This is an annual CBL that describes the difference in a swing bed patient versus an in-patient or observation patient. The RN will understand the documentation differences and the specific care required for each individual swing bed patient.
Bronson South Haven Hospital and Bronson Lakeview Hospital employees who are approved to work in a Swing Bed Facility only: Employees may be expected to cover shifts at Bronson Lakeview Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital depending on patient acuity and staffing needs.
Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) Role: The virtual registered nurse leverages technology to deliver patient care remotely, collaborating with bedside staff and the broader care team to ensure quality outcomes and timely discharge. Core responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Conducting admission screening, patient/family education, discharge planning, and medication dual acknowledgments via secure digital platforms.
- Completing diagnostic testing questionnaires and supporting patient safety initiatives.
- Mentoring and supporting nursing staff and facilitating patient progression toward discharge using electronic health record (EHR) tools such as checklists and clinical pathways.

The Neurovascular Unit (NVU) is a 40-bed medical-surgical unit where patients receive specialized care for a variety of neurological diagnoses, including stroke, epilepsy, post-operative orthopedic spinal surgeries, and other neurological disorders.

Lab CourierAs the external face of Bronson Lab, a lab courier requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in their daily interactions with clinical staff, lab clients and customers throughout their delivery routes. Couriers transport samples and specimens using a fixed schedule that brings them to their stops at approximately the same time each day. Daily documentation and tracking of deliveries, delivery times and transport contents are required. Lab couriers must be cautious and organized when handling specimens, as any disarray in labeling or sorting lab specimens and test results can have dire consequences for medical offices and their patients and lab’s clients.

Role and Responsibilities
- Takes directions from the Lab Courier Dispatcher for pickups and deliveries.
- Drives company vehicle to client’s offices for pickup of specimens per established routes and schedules.
- Adjusts route and schedule when dispatched to stat requests.
- Checks specimens against requisition for proper patient identification, demographics, insurance information, collection, and storage.
- Follow blood bank procedure when delivering blood products during a stat massive transfusion protocol.
- Follow all Bronson guidelines when transporting supplies via the tunnel using electric cart
- Some routes will require Lab Couriers to walk between points of destination for the purpose of transporting specimens for laboratory testing.
- Safeguards and properly handles specimens while in route.
- Prepares lab diagnostic reports for distribution in a timely fashion.
- Prepares supply orders, and ensure proper delivery of supplies/specimens as directed by department operations.
- Daily documentation and tracking of deliveries, delivery times and transport contents to include daily automobile check.

- Uses mobile phones for in route communications, GPS for necessary way-finding and computers as necessary for daily job requirements.
- Fills in for Lab Courier Dispatcher in their absence.
- Assists with other duties in technical departments as needed.
- Lab couriers must be cautious in handling specimens and organized, as any disarray in labeling or sorting lab specimens and test results can have dire consequences for medical offices and their patients and lab’s clients.

Facilities Services Supervisor- Bronson Battle Creek, Full Time- 1st ShiftThe Facilities Services Supervisor is responsible for the planning and organizing of the daily operations and improvements of the Facilities Services Department.
Direct supervision and Leadership of approximately 20 FTE’s including the Physical Plant (Boiler Room), Maintenance Department, and Grounds department teams. The facilities supervisor is responsible for continued training and goal setting for the facilities team members.
This position interacts daily with outside contractors including mechanical and electrical trades. The Facilities Services Supervisor works closely with regulatory agencies including State Fire Marshals, Department of Health, TJC, and oversees all renovation projects for the hospital including carpentry, electrical and lighting upgrades.
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met, including all documentation required for regulatory compliance. The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the facility and grounds are maintained to the standards set by the Senior leadership team and Survey ready every day.
High school diploma or equivalent. 5 years’ previous proven experience in Facilities/Maintenance required. Previous management experience preferred.
This position needs to have basic to advanced knowledge in the following areas: Power distribution, Emergency Power Generation and Distribution, fire alarm systems, boiler systems, HVAC, plumbing, computer skills, Medical Gas systems, and Pneumatic tube systems.
May be exposed to noise, dust, and extended shifts while performing job duties. Walking and standing on a regular basis. Must have good interpersonal skills. Interacts with other management teams, patients, visitors, and outside contractors. Able to formulate emails and memos. Able to lead department huddles and meetings when needed.

Orientation Requirement
Full-Time, Part-Time, and PRN team members must be able to commit to full-time orientation hours during the first 6–8 weeks of employment.

Bronson Lakeview Neurobehavioral Health is required to have all their employees participate in recipient rights education. This education is assumed by the Recipient Rights Offer.
The Office of Recipient Rights shall do all of the following:
- Provide or coordinate the protection of recipient rights for all directly operated or contracted services.
- Ensure that recipients, parents of minor recipients, and guardians or other legal representatives have access to The Rights Booklet of their rights guaranteed by the Michigan Mental Health Code and are notified of those rights in an understandable manner, both at the time services are initiated and periodically during the time services are provided to the recipient.
- Ensure that the telephone number and address of the Office of Recipient Rights and the name of Rights Advisor are conspicuously posted in all service sites.
- Maintain a record system for all reports of apparent or suspected rights violations received including a mechanism for logging in all complaints and a mechanism for secure storage of all investigative documents as evidence.
- Ensure that each service site is visited with the frequency necessary for protection of rights but in no case less than annually.
- Ensure that all individuals employed by BBC Fieldstone site receive training related to recipient rights protection before or within 30 days after being employed.
- Review the recipient rights policies and the rights system of each provider of mental health services under contract with BBC to ensure that the rights protection system of each provider is in compliance with the Michigan Mental Health Code and is of a uniformly high standard.
- Serve as consultant to Chief Executive Officer or his or her designee, RiskManagement Department, and other directors and to the associates of BBC in matters related to recipient rights.
- Ensure that all reports of apparent or suspected violations of rights within Fieldstone Center are investigated in accordance with section 330.1778 of the Michigan Mental Health Code. The policy requires that the rights office must conduct investigations in a manner that does not violate employee rights. Those reports that do not warrant investigation are intervened upon and recorded in accordance with subdivision (d) of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
- Semiannually provide summary complaint data consistent with the annual report required by the Code, together with a summary of remedial action taken on substantiated complaints by category, to the State of Michigan and to the Recipient Rights Advisory Committee.
- The Recipient Rights Officer and Advisors will have the education, training, and experience to fulfill the responsibilities of the Office of Recipient Rights. The Recipient Rights Officer and Advisors will receive training in recipient rights protection.
- Coordinate meetings and activities of the Recipient Rights Advisory Committee and be the holder of the record of this committee.
- Serve as advocate to all recipients and their families. Provide recipients assistance to make contact with other advocacy groups, as needed.
- Collaborate with Community Mental Health when appropriate.
- The Recipient Rights Officer shall submit to the governing board of BHG and to the State of Michigan Office of Recipient Rights an annual report prepared by the Office of Recipient Rights on the current status of recipient rights at Fieldstone Site and a review of the operations of the Office of Recipient Rights. The report shall be submitted no later than December 30, of each year for the preceding fiscal year or period specified in contract. The annual report shall include, at a minimum, all of the following: A) Summary data by category regarding the rights of recipients receiving services from Bronson Health Services-Fieldstone Site BBC including complaints received, the number of reports filed, and the number of reports investigated by the Office of Recipient Rights. B) The number of substantiated rights violations by category. C) The remedial actions taken on substantiated rights violations by category. D) Training received by associates of the Office of Recipient Rights. E) Training provided by the Office of Recipient Rights. Desired outcomes established for the Office of Recipient Rights and progress toward these outcomes. G) Recommendations to the BHG governing board.

Emergency Dept Unit Clerk PT 1900-0300The ED Unit Clerks serve as the department facilitators, aiding in all processes outside of direct patient care to ensure patient care can happen correctly and efficiently. This is achieved by working very closely with the ED Charge Nurse and the ED Flow Coordinator to help manage the department and patient flow within the department. The ED Unit Clerk is responsible for all clerical duties within the department; including answering a 13-line phone system, all encounter scanning, copying, and faxing. The ED Unit Clerk works directly with the physicians within their assigned team to facilitate and assist in various tasks to aid in patient care, such as, paging and contacting other physicians, obtaining medical records, and arranging transportation to various radiology departments. The ED Unit Clerks are solely responsible for monitoring the 13-bed Patient Safety Surveillance monitoring system, and for arranging all EMS transportation out of the Emergency Department. • ED Unit Clerks are responsible for calling and initiating hospital call downs for the ED. This includes tier 1 and tier 2 trauma calls, AMIs, and Strokes, as well as calling down Code Black Level 1 and 2 for the hospital.
• Monitors and operates the 13 bed camera Patient Safety Surveillance program for patients who require extra visual and auditory monitoring.
• Responsible for scanning all encounter level documents into patient charts for emergency room physicians, nurses, and ED Techs. Also provide encounter scanning for Case Management/MSW, for all law enforcement documentation and subpoena information, and for the ED Pharmacy Department. This ensures the proper documentation is compiled for patients, creating the most accurate and complete medical record.
• Arrange and facilitate all patient EMS transfers out of the ED including transfers to nursing facilities, home to patients’ current residence, to KNI for imaging not offered at Bronson, and to KPEP for those patients who qualify. ED Unit Clerks are the only ED employees trained to use the Bronson Transfer Tracking Application.
• Facilitates and monitors the ED’s admission process. Responsibilities range from ensuring the ED Physician pages the correct admitting provider, to broadcasting to the team when the patient has a clean and ready inpatient hospital bed assignment. This helps ED staff expedite moving patients to inpatient status in a timely manner in order to reach SBAR and GEMBA goals, as well as provide the best possible care to patients.
• Facilitates ordering priority 1 blood and initiates massive transfusion protocols with the blood bank. ED Unit Clerks also do the “running” for massive transfusions, which entails retrieving the products from the blood bank and delivering back to the ED.
• Responsible for obtaining medical records from any and all outside hospitals for continuation of patient care for ED Physicians. Collects and encounter scans all requested records into the patients chart.

• Seeks appropriate funding based upon patient requirements, collecting supporting documentation (payroll stubs, tax returns, credit history, etc.), as required. Provides information and education to the patient, family member and/or guarantor of the application/documentation process. In so doing, the incumbent will encourage patient participation in the funding process and will assist the patient in forwarding the required documentation and application to the appropriate funding agency:
• Counsels patient/guarantor on patient’s financial liability, third-party payer requirements and outside financial resources, including private organizations and foundations, eligibility vendor(s), Medicaid, Medicare, Champus, and/or federal disability programs, etc.;
• Counsels patient/guarantor of payment plan options and establishes appropriate plan;
• Investigates No Fault and Workers’ Compensation cases, retrieving police report and insurance information, as required;
• Assists patient/guarantor in completing applications for applicable funding sources, financial statement and/or payment contract when required according to hospital policies. Analyzes such applications along with income/resident documentation in order to advise the patient of available options. Initiates requests for charity write-off, when appropriate;
• Analyzes financial and eligibility data, and length of disability to determine potential eligibility for federal, state, and/or county programs, completing the necessary documents within the time limits specified by the appropriate government agency;
