Staff Development Instructor – Critical Care & Emergency Care (Night Shift) – Full‑Time, 72 Hours per Pay PeriodThe Staff Development Instructor serves as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for the professional development specialty and partner for practice transitions. Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team. Delivers education in an effective and efficient manner. Provides clinical orientation and continuing education to assigned department(s). Assures standardization and best practice in education. Identified positions also act as a liaison to local schools to provide clinical placement for educational purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE The minimum level of educational attainment and/or length and character of experience needed to perform the job effectively.
Minimum educational requirement based upon clinical area of specialty:
Nursing: BSN or BS with major in nursing required; MSN or MS with major in nursing preferred.
Five years of clinical experience with a focus in areas of specialty desired.
Experience in teaching and certification highly desired.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS Licenses, registrations, and certifications required at time of hire or within a stated period from date of hire by the state and/or agencies responsible for reviewing and approving all or part of the BHG's operation. Preferences are also included and indicated as such.
Licensed in area of specialty in good standing with the State of Michigan.
Must have a valid driver’s license for those roles requiring system coverage.
BLS required within orientation period; BLS Instructor status required within one year of hire. Advanced life support Instructor status determined by department needs.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Any special skill or abilities that may not be clear by the educational requirements or need further explanation, e.g. typing, word processing, personal computers, etc.
Must be able to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with documentation and record keeping in the department.

Life Support:
- Serves an expert resource on ECC issues and protocols to the Training Center Coordinator, Instructor’s and clinical staff
- Conducts Instructor courses for Training Center while adhering to the AHA guidelines
- Monitors Course Directors and Training Center Faculty and completes required documentation
- Responsible for the scheduling of all Instructors in all the Life Support programs and activities
- Must become an assist as an Instructor for all Life Support programs (ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, and RQI).
- Oversees improvements of all Life Support Programs and deployment of new equipment
- Assures regulatory compliance of all Life Support programs and ensures that standards are updated appropriately and that polices are met.

Infection Preventionist – Full-Time (80 hours per pay period) | Variable Schedule Across Locations (Monday–Friday) | Kalamazoo, Paw Paw, South HavenThe Infection Preventionist is responsible for the detection, documentation, analysis, and prevention of infections occurring in Bronson Methodist Hospital patients, staff and visitors. The individual reports to the Infection Prevention Manager. The individual makes critical decisions and clinical judgments to implement Bronson infection prevention policy. The individual may delegate selected tasks that fall within the scope of practice to the department administrative assistant and on-call Infection Preventionist. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Required Education - Must have one of the following:
Master's degree in Public Health
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Microbiology
Bachelor's degree in nursing or a clinical field
An equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered
Required Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience in a hospital setting is required.
• Must attain and maintain competence in the current knowledge base supporting infection prevention. Such material is found in a variety of sources including CDC and Joint Commission guidelines, State of Michigan regulations, and the infection prevention professional literature.
• Serve as a consultant on all infection prevention issues to physicians and staff and to regularly organize lectures and teach infection prevention content to new and existing employees
• Familiar with the Bronson quality improvement processes and techniques and frequently participate in investigations and process improvement efforts related to infection prevention throughout the hospital system

• Reviews medical records and other hospital reports and data to detect nosocomial infections and write infection reports. Performs daily infection control unit rounds for surveillance. Surveillance includes patients of all ages.
• Accurately identifies and documents all nosocomial infections from surveillance activities and review of hospital data using CDC definitions of infections.
• Helps to performs outbreak investigations as needed.
• Monitors daily all patients in special precautions.
• Consults with employees, physicians, patients and patient families regarding Infection Control. Serves as the institutional consultant concerning outbreaks of infectious diseases and bioterrorism activity within the community.

Associates degree from an accredited school of Ultrasound/Sonography or completion of an accredited sonography program or Must have a minimum of one of the following a Certificate of Completion of a Hospital base program or Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
Six months to a year of on the job clinical experience and training.
BLS required within 6-12 months after hire. Some positions may require additional certifications.
For general ultrasound positions:
Technologists are required to be registry eligible or registered ARDMS in OB/GYN and Abdomen (which includes Physics board exam). Healthcare Security Specialist (Kalamazoo): full-time 2nd shift, 80 hr./pp., 3pm-11pm, scheduled wk1: Sun., M, W, Th., F; wk2: M, T, W, F, Sat..Responsible for the safety and security of BHG properties and grounds as well as patients, visitors and staff. Bronson Healthcare Security Specialists will uphold Bronson’s policies and procedures through the Standards for Excellence and will display professionalism and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); security and/or healthcare security experience preferred.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license is required. Must be able to be insured through Bronson’s insurance carrier.

- Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weight (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.

Must be comfortable in defusing and de-escalating stressful situations as well as using patient management techniques as a part of responding to resistance to gain control of a patient or subject who is engaging in work place violence.
- Responds to calls for aid from various hospital areas, particularly the Emergency Department. Assists with calming or possible restraining of disturbed patients. Escorts individuals from hospital premises when necessary
- Assist/communicate with staff, patients/visitors, and local law enforcement during codes and/or situations that require a high state of readiness.
- Responds to emergency security situations.
- Responds to emergency codes, as necessary.
- Investigates and prepares reports detailing accidents, thefts, lost property, safety and security violations, and so forth. Completes incident reports and follows up on all incomplete reports.
- Serves as "charge" whenever assigned. Coordinates routine operations, directs the activities of other personnel, and assumes functional charge of the shift(s) as assigned.
- May be asked to provide education (e.g., access control, fire drills, etc.).
- Assists with parking control.
- Escorts employees and visitors to their cars upon request.
- Provides general assistance to people with car trouble (e.g., lockout, jump start, etc.).
- Patrols hospital buildings and grounds according to established round schedule in order to detect and prevent theft, vandalism, fire, and other threats to hospital security. In addition, makes periodic unscheduled rounds.

Duties may include the performance of basic technical skills not requiring licensure, such as, but not limited to :
The Service Line Specialist is responsible for keeping abreast of changes in service line equipment and procedures and implementing change and teaching as indicated for optimal service line services. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, and in accordance with defined policies and procedures for the unit, the Service Line Specialist provides technical patient care to a defined patient population as assigned by the Registered Nurse or Physician. Duties may include the performance of basic technical skills not requiring licensure, such as, but not limited to
- Operating Room (OR) cleaning and reset for the next case
- Gathering equipment, case carts, and positioning aides for the next case
- Holding extremity for surgical prep
- Stocking of OR rooms, sub sterile, and specialty carts
- Help with positioning patient for spinal anesthesia and surgery
- Assist in patient transfers from OR bed to patient bed
- Trauma room, Cardiac room, and Neuro room set up

Medical Secretary II (Infusion Scheduler) - Full time (80 hours per pay period) | Monday–Friday| Bronson Cancer Center – KalamazooThe Medical Secretary II completes surgery scheduling of patients for physicians in the practice. Obtains necessary insurance authorizations for surgical cases. Provides codes for surgical cases for insurance authorization. Reviews work queues and/or posts charges into Practice Management System for provider hospital and office billing and/or simple surgical cases (e.g. Obstetrics and Gynecology), validating documentation with correct dates of service and confirming selection of appropriate billing codes. The Medical Secretary II completes required forms or letters as necessary. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Chemotherapy Infusion Scheduler: The infusion scheduler performs chemotherapy scheduling at the Bronson Cancer Center – Kalamazoo for Oncology and Hematology patients. These activities include scheduling complex oncology appointments including Labs, Physician/APP office visits, chemotherapy, injections, therapeutic phlebotomies, and diagnostic procedures. Makes schedule changes as they may occur on patient schedules or provider schedules. Ensures an accurate and safe schedule for the Cancer Center infusion room and manages schedules for radiation and gynecology oncology treatment patients from outside referrals.
The Infusion scheduler works closely with the providers, nursing staff, and other care team members to schedule accurate and safe treatments for the patient. They would communicate with patients continuously with appointment updates. They would handle phone calls regarding patient appointments. They would confirm treatments have an authorization prior to scheduling treatment appointments.
Trauma: The Medical Secretary II provides clinical and clerical support to 8 Physician’s & 5 Advanced Practice Providers. Completes required forms or letters as necessary. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
6-12 months coding experience in a health care setting preferred

The RN is responsible for completing the Workday CBL –“Swing beds”. This is an annual CBL that describes the difference in a swing bed patient versus an in-patient or observation patient. The RN will understand the documentation differences and the specific care required for each individual swing bed patient.
Bronson South Haven Hospital and Bronson Lakeview Hospital employees who are approved to work in a Swing Bed Facility only: Employees may be expected to cover shifts at Bronson Lakeview Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital depending on patient acuity and staffing needs.
Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) Role: The virtual registered nurse leverages technology to deliver patient care remotely, collaborating with bedside staff and the broader care team to ensure quality outcomes and timely discharge. Core responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Conducting admission screening, patient/family education, discharge planning, and medication dual acknowledgments via secure digital platforms.
- Completing diagnostic testing questionnaires and supporting patient safety initiatives.

Bronson South Haven Hospital and Bronson Lakeview Hospital employees who are approved to work in a Swing Bed Facility only: Employees may be expected to cover shifts at Bronson Lakeview Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital depending on patient acuity and staffing needs.
Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) Role: The virtual registered nurse leverages technology to deliver patient care remotely, collaborating with bedside staff and the broader care team to ensure quality outcomes and timely discharge. Core responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Conducting admission screening, patient/family education, discharge planning, and medication dual acknowledgments via secure digital platforms.
- Completing diagnostic testing questionnaires and supporting patient safety initiatives.
