LifeguardThe lifeguard monitors the aquatic environment and enforces facility rules. Must be attentive, demonstrate proactive risk management, and provide excellent customer service. Responds to emergencies within scope of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding training program and BAC Emergency Action Plan. Facilitates group, team or private swimming lesson activities. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Effective November 1, 2022 a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is no longer required for this position.
- Effective December 1, 2013, Lifeguards must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Nationally recognized lifeguarding certificate required within 90 days of hire. I.e. American Red Cross, YMCA or Ellis required (this includes First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications).
- Must be able to perform all rescues and pre-requisite skills required per the American Red Cross Pool Lifeguarding training program.
- Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes without use of arms and swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10 pound object from a depth of 7-10 feet and return to starting position.
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills in communicating facility rules to members and patrons.
- Work which produces very high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g. CRT work between 70 and 90 percent of the time, and work involving extremely close tolerances and considerable hand/eye coordination for sustained periods of time. Involves regularly lifting bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
- Monitors the aquatic environment and maintains patron safety as per Bronson Athletic Club policy and State Health Code.
- Performs opening/closing tasks and other duties as required by Bronson Athletic Club including, but not limited to, measuring and recording free chlorine content levels in pools, hot tubs, and cold plunges as well as assisting in the annual shut down.

We’re looking for an Environmental Service technician to help maintain cleanliness and infection control across the hospital. You’ll play an important role in making sure the hospital is a clean, safe place for everyone.
Bronson Hospital servesthe community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To meet patient care needs, scheduling includes rotating weekends and holidays. Bronson is a drug-free employer, including THC.
What You’ll Do:
Clean and sanitize patient rooms (both occupied and unoccupied), public areas, surgical areas, and other spaces as assigned
Stock supplies and keep equipment clean and in working order
Follow safety and infection control guidelines to ensure the hospital is always clean and safe
Provide excellent service to both hospital staff and patients
Work closely with the Environmental Services Manager to make sure all tasks are completed to the highest standards
Follow detailed instructions and regularly check your work to meet quality standards
What We’re Looking For:

• Performs most duties while standing, sitting, and/or walking. Lifts and/or pushes supplies and equipment. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching, is required to perform many job duties. Ability to work while standing on a stepladder at a height of four feet is required. Occasional exposure to risk of injury when working with electrical equipment. Must be able to walk stairs when necessary. Good balance is required when performing all duties. The employee is occasionally required to work in confined spaces and occupied areas. May experience occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. May be called upon to handle emergency or crisis situations. Required protecting clothing may include gloves, eye protection, face protection, and shoe covers.
• Performs all cleaning functions involved in daily general cleaning and maintaining of patient rooms, operating rooms and ancillary areas, patient related areas, and departmental general areas following the system’s ten steps of cleaning as defined in the Environmental Services Department Manual.

• Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations per CDC, OSHA, the EPA, Joint Commission and policies, procedures and standards necessary for role.
• Follows all isolation procedures in isolation and contact plus rooms
• Detail clean vents, fan fixtures, tops of windows, door frames, wall art, bumpers, furniture and other areas as necessary
• Cleans public areas; lobbies, waiting rooms, rest rooms, elevators, utility rooms, exam rooms, offices, stairwells, and other areas assigned
• Collects and replaces all sharps and black pharmacy box containers in patient care areas.
Documents and maintains records of assigned cleaning tasks.
Restocking of supplies in assigned areas as needed.
Communicates information and requests as appropriate to the registered nurse and/or patient care assistant.
Communicate and provide exceptional service to patients, staff, families and visitors.
Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit data per HIPPA regulations.
Removes trash and soiled linen from assigned areas and transports to disposal area.
Keeps work areas neat and orderly, cleans equipment and assists with other duties as assigned.
May operate mechanical floor equipment such as IMops, vacuums, sweepers and other related environmental equipment.
Cleans equipment and stores in assigned locations.
Direct visitors as necessary.
May collect trays from patient rooms.
Coordinates activities related to cleaning area with department coordinator as needed.
Assumes responsibility for own growth and development; attends regular staff meetings.
Actively participates and supports the Bronson Management System by attending huddles and adopting the problem solving methods.

All other duties as assigned which may include the use of the trash compactor, and emptying trash and linen chutes.
Specific to BMH Lab, BSH, BLH & BLIRC:
Collect, label and organize all Biomedical Waste for pick up by the waste hauler.
Collect, transport and take all recycling to compactor or comingle dumpster.
Transport waste to appropriate compactor or outside dumpster as needed.
Change privacy curtains where needed.
Round, inspect and maintain all assigned areas within scope of facility. Areas to include but not limited to: Lab work areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, patient procedure rooms, stairwells, receiving dock, ambulatory storage, EVS closets, BIO storage rooms, recycling areas inside and outside, elevator landing, elevator’s inside and out, elevator tracks.
Proper use of and maintenance of all assigned floor care machinery. Machinery to include but not limited to: auto scrubbers, corded and battery powered vacuums, iMop, burnishers and side by side scrubbers.

Patient Transport Specialist - Battle Creek, Part-Time, Variable ShiftsThe Patient Transport Specialist provides a comprehensive array of patient focused services. This position is responsible for lifting, standing, and pushing patients in wheelchairs and on gurneys. Round, inspect and maintain all assigned areas within scope of facility. Areas to include but not limited to: Lab work areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, patient procedure rooms, stairwells, receiving dock, ambulatory storage, EVS closets, BIO storage rooms, recycling areas inside and outside, elevator landing, elevator’s inside and out, elevator tracks.

Pharmacy Technician Supervisor FT second shift BMHUnder the direction of the Inpatient Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the activities of the inpatient pharmacy technician and service clerk staff, narcotic tracking and accountability, new hire orientation and training, facilitation of cross-training and development of current and future technician staff, oversight of outdate sections in the central pharmacy, unit inspections, and technician scheduling. This role will play a part on the pharmacy leadership team and will be involved in, or will lead, committee meetings, process improvement initiatives, and implementations of new systems. This job will be directly responsible for performance matters and evaluation of pharmacy technician and pharmacy service clerk staff.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with courses in mathematics and basic algebra required. Must have at least 2 years of pharmacy tech experience in a hospital setting, with a preference towards individuals with previous experience in a leadership type role. A medical terminology course is preferred.
Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan. Must have nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB, CPhT, or equivalent) within one year of hire into the Pharmacy Technician job. Pharmacy students currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy with a valid pharmacy intern license are not required to have Pharmacy Technician Certification.
Must be qualified at the Pharmacy Technician II level. To be eligible for a Pharmacy Technician II job, must demonstrate 12 months of Level 1 competency (or equivalent) and is competent in 4 identified areas. A technician may advance to Level 2 once he/she has demonstrated 12 months of competency in 4 identified functional areas. An exception to the 12 month guideline can be made for a technician with several years of previous pharmacy technician experience who has clearly demonstrated competency at an accelerated rate (may be seen especially in initial transition and with new hires with substantial prior hospital pharmacy technician experience).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clean, well lighted & temperature controlled environment. May work in chemotherapy preparation satellite, working with hazardous carcinogens, however, normal safety precautions and protective equipment are provided to minimize risk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time.

Pediatric Transport Registered Nurse - Bronson Methodist Hospital - Full-time 12NUnder general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, unit and the Nurse Practice Act, the Pediatric Transport Registered Nurse manages the care delivery for patients in out-of-hospital intra-facility transport and in-hospital throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required, and successful completion of Hospital Core and Department specific orientation based upon unit and experience level. Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan. As of December 29, 2013, any nurse hired by Bronson who does not hold a BSN (or higher nursing degree) will be given 8 years from date of hire date to obtain. If, after 8 years, the nurse has not met this requirement, employment will be terminated.
Critical care experience [in Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and/or Emergency Department (ED)] required; 3 years or 4000 hours of critical care experience (in PICU, NICU, ICU or ED) preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and other transport/department required provider courses upon hire.
Nursing transport specialty certification is required within two years of hire date [ex. Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN), Certified Neonatal/Pediatric Transport (CNPT)]. For all nurses who are currently in a pediatric transport nurse position and have been in a transport position for at least two years, nursing transport specialty certification is required by 12/31/2026.

Emergency Department Technician, Part-Time 11a-11:30p, Bronson South HavenUnder the supervision of a Registered Staff Nurse, and in accordance with defined policies and procedures for the unit, the Emergency Department technician (EDT) provides technical patient care to a pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population as assigned by the Registered Nurse. Assisting the RN in gathering patient data. Monitor non-invasive cardiac activity on patients by means of continuous display of the patient's cardiac rhythm. Initiation and discontinuation of telemetry monitoring, 12 Lead EKGs continuous pulse ox monitoring. Additional training specific to trauma patients and trauma call downs. Perform phlebotomy on both adults and children. Perform point of care testing such as urine pregnancy testing or blood glucose testing. Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs). Patient transportation to inpatient units, all diagnostic areas within the hospital. Responds to all Air Care flights as transporter assist to deliver patients to end destination. Performs decontamination procedures for contaminated patients. Assists with orthopedic injuries, applying plaster splints etc. Department maintenance activities (stocking patient rooms, moving equipment, ordering and procuring supplies, etc.). Basic customer services (directions, visitor control, and other functions as needed). Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

- Assists the RN in gathering patient data.

- Start IVs on both adults and children (consult with RN prior to child IV start).
- Perform point of care testing such as blood glucose testing.
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).

- Effective July 1, 2017 all new hire ED Techs must be certified by the State of Michigan and maintain a current CNA certification, or an active nursing student that has completed the first year of a nursing program. The nursing student must stay actively enrolled.

- 6-12 months previous experience required.

Hospital Medical Social Worker:

The Medical Social Worker is responsible for completing the Word day CBL –“Swing beds”. This is an annual CBL that describes the difference in a swing bed patient versus an in-patient or observation patient. The Medical Social Worker will understand the documentation differences and the specific care required for each individual swing bed patient.
Bronson Lakeview Neurobehavioral Health is required to have all their employees participate in recipient rights education. This education is assumed by the Recipient Rights Offer.
Provide or coordinate the protection of recipient rights for all directly operated or contracted services.
Ensure that recipients, parents of minor recipients, and guardians or other legal representatives have access to The Rights Booklet of their rights guaranteed by the Michigan Mental Health Code and are notified of those rights in an understandable manner, both at the time services are initiated and periodically during the time services are provided to the recipient.
- Ensure that the telephone number and address of the Office of Recipient Rights and the name of Rights Advisor are conspicuously posted in all service sites.
- Maintain a record system for all reports of apparent or suspected rights violations received including a mechanism for logging in all complaints and a mechanism for secure storage of all investigative documents as evidence.
- Ensure that each service site is visited with the frequency necessary for protection of rights but in no case less than annually.
- Serve as consultant to Chief Executive Officer or his or her designee, Risk Management Department, and other directors and to the associates of BLH in matters related to recipient rights.
- Ensure that all reports of apparent or suspected violations of rights within Bronson LakeView Hospital are investigated in accordance with section 330.1778 of the Michigan Mental Health Code. The policy requires that the rights office must conduct investigations in a manner that does not violate employee rights. Those reports that do not warrant investigation are intervened upon and recorded in accordance with subdivision (d) of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
- Semiannually provide summary complaint data consistent with the annual report required by the Code, together with a summary of remedial action taken on substantiated complaints by category, to the State of Michigan and to the Recipient Rights Advisory Committee.
- The Recipient Rights Officer and Advisors will have the education, training, and experience to fulfill the responsibilities of the Office of Recipient Rights. The Recipient Rights Officer and Advisors will receive training in recipient rights protection.
- Coordinate meetings and activities of the Recipient Rights Advisory Committee and be the holder of the record of this committee.
- Serve as advocate to all recipients and their families. Provide recipients assistance to make contact with other advocacy groups, as needed.
- Collaborate with Community Mental Health when appropriate.

Rights officers, advisors and alternates will attain 36 hours of continuing education every 3 years, with 12 credits in "operations" or "legal". The policy requires that rights staff acquire at least 3 continuing education credits each calendar year (CMHSP/LPH Contract)
The Recipient Rights Officer shall submit to the governing board of BHG and to the State of Michigan Office of Recipient Rights an annual report prepared by the Office of Recipient Rights on the current status of recipient rights at Bronson LakeView Hospital and a review of the operations of the Office of Recipient Rights. The report shall be submitted no later than December 30, of each year for the preceding fiscal year or period specified in contract. The annual report shall include, at a minimum, all of the following:
- Summary data by category regarding the rights of recipients receiving services from Bronson LakeView Neurobehavioral Health, including complaints received, the number of reports filed, and the number of reports investigated by the Office of Recipient Rights.
- The number of substantiated rights violations by category.
- The remedial actions taken on substantiated rights violations by category.
- Training received by associates of the Office of Recipient Rights.
- Training provided by the Office of Recipient Rights.
- Desired outcomes established for the Office of Recipient Rights and progress toward these outcomes.
- Recommendations to the BHG governing board.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Michigan.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum two years perioperative nursing experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (certificate, diploma, AS degree) and 5 years of experience.

Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., up to 50 pounds) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Occasionally required to stoop, crouch or kneel, and move quickly to gather equipment and medication to respond to emergency situations. NATURE AND SCOPE: This position interacts with providers, nursing, ancillary staff, respiratory therapy staff, patients and families.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Supports the mission, vision and values of the hospital.
Responsible for working in a safe and protective manner at all times keeping in mind that safety and environmental hazards are the responsibility of all employees for themselves, other staff members and patients.
Provides patient’s respiratory therapy and communicates findings to appropriate personnel. Evaluates objective and subjective information in a logical and thorough manner. Discusses conclusions with providers and nurses to resolve patient problems promptly.
Routinely evaluates blood gases (both invasive and non-invasive) in a logical and thorough manner. Discusses conclusions and suggests therapy changes based on ABG results.
Communicates ventilator recommendations to providers and nursing based on patient evaluation and blood gases.
Checks that provider orders are complete and administers therapy accordingly.
Performs all respiratory therapies (age-specific) in accordance with provider orders, protocols, or guidelines.
- Explains therapy to the patient in understandable terms according to age/learning capabilities.
- Assesses the patient’s response to therapy and makes recommendations to the provider accordingly or according to protocol guidelines if appropriate.
- Administers, assesses and titrates oxygen therapy
- Assesses patient response and modifies therapy according to respiratory protocols.
- Notifies Manager, nursing personnel and providers of any adverse patient reactions.
- Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and assists with “Code Blue”, as necessary.
- Arrives at “Code Blue” in a timely manner. Performs appropriate life support according to BLS, ACLS, NRP and PALS guidelines as per site specific responsibilities
- Assists provider or performs (If competency complete) with tracheal intubation.
- Routinely maintains artificial airways (endotracheal tube and tracheostomy tubes) in accordance with department policy (i.e. suctioning and securing endotracheal tubes).
- Maintains stability of artificial airways. Assure tube security and repositions endotracheal tubes according to policy.
- Is able to appropriately utilize infant and pediatric resuscitation equipment in emergency situations, including PEEP adaptions and pop-off valves.
Provides assistance with patient and family education along with other members of the healthcare team.
Performs basic pulmonary function testing, EKG’s, arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2 monitoring and transcutaneous oximetry in accordance with outlined departmental policies and procedures.
Assists with bedside bronchoscopies, intubations, and extubations in accordance with outlined departmental policies and procedures,
Performs naso-tracheal, endo-tracheal, tracheal suction and sample collections in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Must be able to assist with patient transport via walking, wheelchair, gurney, or crib for safe delivery of continuum of care. May be responsible for assisting with ambulance transports within one facility to another.
