Bronson Healthcare Group Manager of Clinical Informatics (RN)Responsible for sustaining organizational adherence to Epic and the requirements for clinical documentation. Evaluates compliance, identifies gaps, areas of improvement, and leads teams to identify process changes necessary to improve opportunities identified. Coordinates implementation and maintenance of designated projects for clinical informatics. Leads and coordinates upgrade implementation, optimization of documentation for clinical services including Nursing and Respiratory therapy. Collaborates with and assists clinical caregivers at all levels conducting performance improvement activities, sustaining a culture of excellence, and maintaining a bedside driven nursing leadership practice environment. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing and 3-5 years progressively more responsible experience in the health care field. required.
Master degree with focus preferred in Informatics or Nursing preferred.
Certification in specialty strongly preferred (must be in good standing and valid in the state of Michigan).
• Working knowledge of nursing standards and data analyses.
• Advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills required (Microsoft Word & Excel).
• Skill set and detailed understanding of nursing electronic documentation and clinical processes.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both in writing and verbally.
• Ability to interact with all levels in healthcare environment including executives, leaders, staff, and physicians.
• Proven ability to negotiate agreement and acceptance of change with complex and difficult situations.
Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
• Serves as a liaison for Medical Informatics with clinical staff.
• Serves as a liaison with IT and clinical staff.
• Works collaboratively with nursing staff and leadership, physicians, and executives.
o Ensures clinical staff competency for the use of clinical applications.
• Assists in the evaluation of quality and appropriateness of care.
• Serves as a resource to staff, management and physicians regarding Nursing Informatics..
• Serves as the Nursing Administrative liaison to IT to facilitate coordination of services and accurate optimization of documentation.
• Promotes optimum use of available technology and applications.
• Evaluates and provides recommendations for use of technology to improve patient safety, optimize professional clinical practice and optimize departmental goals
• Supervises Clinical Informatics.
• Works closely with hospital PI for appropriate metric development, database use
• Ensures accuracy of data and reports
• Works collaboratively with OI/PI to ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance.
• Inputs into policy and procedures to ensure integration with Evidence Based Practices (EBP) and documentation process
• Communicates professionally and with diplomacy up and down the chain of command for shared knowledge and common vision toward quality improvements.
• Coordinates and leads multidisciplinary teams as assigned to accomplish established goals.
• Participates in committees as assigned, functioning as a nursing and Respiratory representative and liaison.
• Chairs the System Nursing Informatics committee, and participates on the Medical Informatics committee as role assigned.
• Participates and leader development and testing of the application functions.
• Coordinates and participates in upgrades and conversions.
• Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure documentation compliance.
• Identifies educational needs and works collaboratively with nursing education as needed to provide necessary education

Under direct RN supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, unit and the Nurse Practice Act, follows the professional nurse core orientation pathway and participates in managing the care delivery for patients in the hospital throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation; coordinating the care provided by other professionals; delegating selected acts, tasks or functions that fall within the scope of professional nursing practice and the abilities of patient care assistants and universal support assistants; providing selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient's level of acuity and complexity of care required; and documenting and communicating during each tour of duty the patient's response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Associate’s degree, Diploma, or a BS or BSN from an approved or accredited Nursing Program prior to employment required
Evidence of graduation from an accredited or approved School of Nursing. Proof may be by a transcript that shows/states completion of nursing program, or a letter from the Director of the nursing program that states candidate has completed a nursing program and is qualified to take boards.
Upon successful completion of NCLEX and obtainment of RN license, candidate will be moved into a Registered Nurse position. Please note: Successful completion of NCLEX is required within 8 weeks of graduation.

• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment in order to set an appropriate plan of action

Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
Participates under direct supervision of RN:
• Assesses the patient’s physical and developmental needs
• Analyzes assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs
• Documents nursing history and age appropriate physical/emotional needs/strengths for assigned patients.
• Develops a plan of care for assigned patients, based upon assessment.
• Manages care plan for assigned patients by organizing and delegating therapeutic patient care interventions to be implemented and evaluating effectiveness of care given by self and others.
• Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to assess condition of patient and detect deviations from normal.
• Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, implements appropriate interventions and/or notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and policies.
• Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
• Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient.
• Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
• Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
• Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
• Manages discharge planning and preparation for assigned patients.

This is a paid, year-round position working 12-hour variable shifts (7a to 7p or 7p to 7a).
A minimum of four shifts per month is required (two of the four shifts will be weekend shifts) typically equating to one 12-hour shift per week.
The position is PRN and not eligible for benefits.
Nurse Externs selected for a position will undergo a two-week, full-time (day shift) orientation program to ensure preparedness for working on the unit.
Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and guidelines established within the organization, unit, and the Nurse Practice Act, the Nurse Extern works with an RN to implement patient care based on the patient’s age and maintain and upgrade his/her skills based on the patient population served, the type and nature of care provided, and advances in health care technology. The Nurse Extern is responsible for communicating learning needs to the nurse preceptor. The Nurse Extern will seek out a variety of learning experiences and is accountable, under the direction of an RN, for setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and promoting the achievement of patient outcomes as defined in the nursing care plan, as follows: utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation; coordinating the care provided by other professionals and unlicensed staff, including delegation and coaching in selected situations; providing selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient’s level of acuity and complexity of care required; and documenting and communicating during each tour of duty the patient’s response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and be within one year of graduation, with an expected graduation date in Spring 2027 or Winter 2027.
The Nurse Extern must complete the individual unit requirements for orientation which includes Hospital, Core, and Department specific orientation based upon the unit and experience level (the Nurse Extern is considered to be in orientation during the full time of employment as a Nurse Extern).
BLS Certification
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment in order to set an appropriate plan of action.
• Satisfactory completion of a pharmacology course or satisfactory performance on a pharmacology medication test.
• Must be able to constantly communicate in a clear and caring manner, both verbally and in writing.
Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time.
Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
Collaboration with an RN preceptor the Nurse Extern performs the following:
• Documents nursing history and physical/emotional needs/strengths for assigned patients.
• Develops a plan of care for assigned patients, based upon assessment.
• Manages care plan for assigned patients by organizing and delegating therapeutic patient care interventions to be implemented and evaluating effectiveness of care given by self and others.
• Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to assess condition of patient and detect deviations from normal.
• Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, implements appropriate interventions and/or notifies supervisor or Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and policies.
• Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patient.
• Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
• Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician, and/or hospital policy and nursing care plan, including patient and family instruction.
• Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
• Manages discharge planning and preparation for assigned patients.
• Manages personal, unit, and hospital resources effectively.
• Rotates among clinical services of institution within cluster (i.e., obstetrics, surgery, orthopedics, outpatient and admitting, pediatrics, etc.).
• Prepares rooms, appropriate instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures of surgery (as assignment indicates).
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.

Histotechnologist/Histology Technician - 48hrs/pp - 1st Shift (7a-3:30p)Prepares histological slides by examining, fixing and processing human tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by Pathologist. Individuals may use specialized dyes to stain samples, bringing out cellular structures for pathologists to identify abnormal cells and monitor cell functions.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet requirements of at least one of the routes listed below.
Route 1
• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last five years.
The education received from a NAACLS accredited HT program is acceptable for a period of five years from the date of completion of that program.
Route 2
• 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from an accredited (regionally or nationally)* college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry OR an associate degree from an accredited (regionally or nationally)* college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the associate degree.
AND
• One year of full time acceptable clinical** experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five years OR one year of full time acceptable veterinary, industry or research experience in a histopathology laboratory in the U.S. or Canada within the last five years.
Route 3
• 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from an accredited (regionally or nationally)* college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry, OR an associate degree from an accredited (regionally or nationally)* college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the associate degree.
AND
• Successful completion of a 50-week U.S. military histotechnician training course*** within the last ten years.

• Prior to January 1, 2004, all individuals must have met educational requirements and have completed certification through ASCP for Histotechnician.

Required Experience:

Requirements

Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for specimen processing, test performance and/or for reporting test results.
- Performs only testing that they have trained in and demonstrated competency for.
- Follows the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, and maintaining the records of patients processed.
- Follows good laboratory practices with reagent stability and storage.
- Adheres to the laboratory’s chemical and biohazardous safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
- Verifies instrument functionality by checking, performing maintenance, calibrating specific lab instruments and troubleshooting as required on assigned analyzers according to procedure.
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor prior to proceeding..
- Demonstrates through proficiency testing samples that all testing is performed in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Documents all corrective actions taken when process (es) deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
- May be delegated by department leader to help in evaluating and selecting new testing methods and instrumentation.
- Participates in Laboratory Quality Program activities.
- Assists HLT in orienting and training any new laboratory employees in pre-analytical, analytical (waived, moderate and high complexity), and post-analytical phases of testing as appropriate to job description.
- Assists HLT in training and precepting laboratory HT or HLT students.
- Assist in laboratory tours and with individuals approved to shadow laboratory department(s).
- Advocate for self and fellow employees when safety concerns are identified by documenting appropriately.

- May be assigned regulatory responsibilities as listed and evaluated on the CLIA Roles competency evaluation.
- The laboratory director may delegate the dissection of specimens to non-pathologist individuals; these individuals must be qualified as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA regulations and have 3 months on the job documented training. These individuals must demonstrate initial competency for proper performance. Once competency is demonstrated, direct supervision is not required. Temporary or permanent Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required upon hire with permanent Michigan Pharmacy Tech licensure required within one year from issuance of temporary license. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required by the State of Michigan to transition from temporary to permanent licensure. Failure to obtain permanent licensure in required timeframe would end employment.
Students currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy with a valid pharmacy intern license are not required to have Pharmacy Technician Certification.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet requirements of at least one of the routes listed below.
Route 1
• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last five years.
The education received from a NAACLS accredited HT program is acceptable for a period of five years from the date of completion of that program.
Route 2
• 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from an accredited (regionally or nationally)* college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry OR an associate degree from an accredited (regionally or nationally)* college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the associate degree.
AND
• One year of full time acceptable clinical** experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five years OR one year of full time acceptable veterinary, industry or research experience in a histopathology laboratory in the U.S. or Canada within the last five years.
Route 3

Certification

• All individuals who are newly ASCP certified after January 1, 2004, must maintain ongoing certification.
• All individuals must have completed certification OR be registry eligible and complete certification within one year of hire through ASCP for Histotechnician or Histotechnologist.
Required Experience:
• Must have experience, within the last five years, in the following areas: Fixation, Embedding/Microtomy, Processing, Staining, and Laboratory Operations.
Requirements
- Employees must demonstrate competencies specific to populations served for clinical or non-clinical dependent upon laboratory location.
- Each individual must demonstrate initial competency for proper performance of pre-analytical, analytic, and post-analytical phases of testing dependent upon department assignment. Once competency is demonstrated, direct supervision is not required for specimen processing, test performance or result reporting. Semi-annual competency will be assessed within first year of hire and annually thereafter.
- Must be able to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with documentation and record keeping in the department
- Must demonstrate a degree of independent judgment and critical thinking, consulting with the department leader(s) when appropriate.

- Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail and maintain a positive attitude

Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for specimen processing, test performance and/or for reporting test results.
- Performs only testing that they have trained in and demonstrated competency for.
- Follows the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, and maintaining the records of patients processed.
- Follows good laboratory practices with reagent stability and storage.
- Adheres to the laboratory’s chemical and biohazardous safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
- Verifies instrument functionality by checking, performing maintenance, calibrating specific lab instruments and troubleshooting as required on assigned analyzers according to procedure.
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor prior to proceeding..
- Demonstrates through proficiency testing samples that all testing is performed in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Documents all corrective actions taken when process (es) deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
- May be delegated by department leader to help in evaluating and selecting new testing methods and instrumentation.
- Participates in Laboratory Quality Program activities.
- Assists HLT in orienting and training any new laboratory employees in pre-analytical, analytical (waived, moderate and high complexity), and post-analytical phases of testing as appropriate to job description.
- Assists HLT in training and precepting laboratory HT or HLT students.
- Assist in laboratory tours and with individuals approved to shadow laboratory department(s).
- Advocate for self and fellow employees when safety concerns are identified by documenting appropriately.
- May be requested to alter start time, shift, department(s), and/or site depending on patient care needs.
- May be assigned regulatory responsibilities as listed and evaluated on the CLIA Roles competency evaluation.
- The laboratory director may delegate the dissection of specimens to non-pathologist individuals; these individuals must be qualified as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA regulations and have 3 months on the job documented training. These individuals must demonstrate initial competency for proper performance. Once competency is demonstrated, direct supervision is not required. Working Conditions

- Must follow laboratory safety policies and procedures due to potential for occupational exposure to infectious materials, including but not limited to: blood and other potentially infectious materials.

- Working irregular hours, including mandatory overtime, holidays, weekends and on-call hours.

BMH Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Full Time 80hr/ppUnder general supervision, performs nuclear medicine scans designed to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders. Prepares and administers radioactive materials under the direction of a radiologist. Employees providing direct patient care.
A graduate from an accredited hospital-based program, college, or university recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
At least three months of clinical and on-the-job training.
Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) within 6 months of hire.
BLS is required within two months of the hire date.
Behaviors
Must demonstrate excellent human relation skills to patients, physicians, and others in sometimes difficult or sensitive situations, including verbal and written communication, problem solving and assertiveness.

Responsibilities

Calibrates and operates a variety of equipment including daily calibration of dose calibrator and Geiger Counter to provide optimal Nuclear Medicine examinations in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Bronson Policies. Under the direction of the radiologist, administers or assists in the administration of radiopharmaceuticals (either orally or intravenously). Consults radiologist to clarify orders or to discuss unusual situations.
Operates gamma cameras, performing regular quality control daily, weekly, and monthly. Immediately reports any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs.
Maintains records regarding safe disposal of biohazard/nuclear waste and properly disposes of all biohazard/nuclear waste according to NRC.
Demonstrates complete knowledge of proper procedure to follow in case of a major or minor spill; responds immediately.
Training
Work under the supervision and direction of the Bronson Imaging Medical Director. Imaging Medical Director is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist with qualifications and licensure/certification consistent with Federal and State laws.
Works alongside and follows guidance and quarterly/annual inspection reports from Medical Physics and Bronson’s Radiation Safety.
Follow compliance with 10CFR Part 30- USNRC, 10CFR71 DOT, MDCH, MDEQ and 49CFR- Hazardous Materials Regulations, Subart H: All employees involved with the packaging, marking, labeling, measuring, loading, transporting and storage of package containing radioactive materials are classified as “hazmat employees” and must have DOT training within 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter. This training includes general awareness/familiarization, function specific, safety training, security awareness training, in-depth security training and a test to ensure and understanding.

- Responsible for specimen processing.

Patient Representative BBC ED 7AM- 730PM 72 PPPatient Representatives are instrumental in ensuring the efficient and effective flow of patient access needs throughout the organization. Responsibilities may include greeting and registering patients, gathering and entering appropriate demographic and insurance/billing information, verification, scheduling appointments, providing patients with financial information, price estimates and the collection and entry of payments. Current knowledge of billing and coding requirements and the ability to apply these based on industry standards is required. Ability to resolve patient financial issues and negotiate payment arrangements. Representatives must fully understand the ramifications and impact of incomplete or inaccurate information to patient care and the overall revenue cycle. Position works in a team environment and delivers exceptional customer service. Other duties as assigned. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Patient Representatives assigned to an Emergency Department team will be placed into a weekend standby rotation based on facility. This standby rotation begins Friday at 7pm to Monday at 7am. This standby rotation could occur from two to no more than six times a year.
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Medical Terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding strongly preferred.
- Basic typing at 45 WPM, basic ten key, and computer skills within a Windows environment.
- Experience with multiple computer applications/operating systems, and office machines.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements, insurance payer regulations and requirements, and patient rights.
- Knowledge of revenue cycle components and his/her role in the ability to impact the overall process.
- Knowledge of the impact of accurate registration has on patient satisfaction.
- Analytical skills to solve simple to semi complex problems.
- Organization, prioritization and time management skills.
- Concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Be flexible to facilitate change.
- Ability to maintain composure in a position that has considerable deadlines, customer contact and high volumes of work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time. The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
- Greets and/or registers patients accurately and efficiently.
- Verifies insurance eligibility using online systems.
- Provides and/or completes required patient forms.
- Collects and enter payments, follows required balancing procedures.
- Analyzes, interprets and enters physician orders.
- Scans and indexes forms.
- Schedules and communicates appointment information accurately and efficiently for multiple facilities and ancillary departments.
- Verifies insurance for scheduled and urgent emergent patients following guidelines established per payer and obtains authorization based on payer specific criteria.
- Accurately completes assigned work queues.
- Identify financial counseling needs.
- Maintains confidentiality in verbal, written and electronic communication.
- Follows established processes, protocols, and workflows.
- Takes initiative to resolve problems and meet patient needs.
For Cancer Center ONLY:
- Associate's degree in related field, or 2 years related experience and/or training in a healthcare environment preferred. (Would consider 2 years of experience in a business office setting)
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) Preferred
