We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented PRN (as needed) Pharmacy Technician with strong customer service skills and who enjoys interacting with patients to join our team. Currently, our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and we are closed on major holidays. This position may require travel and coverage at other pharmacy locations as needed.
Advocate Pharmacy is an outpatient pharmacy located inside Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. We work with the inpatient hospital patients in addition to patients in the community presenting to our pharmacy.
The role supports pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines. Additionally, we support the Meds to Beds (Meds to Go) program, which provides bedside delivery of discharge prescriptions to hospitalized patients prior to leaving the facility. Our team coordinates remote payment collection and collaborates closely with Social Work/Care Management to help patients overcome financial barriers and ensure access to prescribed medications upon discharge.
Pay Range:
$21.85 - $32.80Major Responsibilities
- Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications
- Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances
- Assists with medication distribution tasks
- Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper telephone and voicemail etiquette
- Assists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking
- Complete documentation required for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances, where applicable
- Perform nonsterile compounding following proper USP standards, where applicable
- Perform sterile IV admixture, as defined at the entity level, using proper aseptic technique, where applicable
- Inspects all assigned medication storage areas for adherence to storage policies
- Completes and documents medication admission histories, as applicable at the facility level
- Seeks additional duties when required work is done and accepts other duties as assigned
- May participate in quality improvement initiatives to assure the excellence of departmental services
- May assist in training pharmacy technicians and extenders in orientation to the policies, procedures, and workflows involved in pharmacy operations as applicable at entity level
- Abides by all organization policies and procedures and complies with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards
- Supports area leaders regarding goals and work assignments
- Obtaining and recording initial patient demographic and other required information, data entry of required information into the pharmacy system for record keeping, insurance verification and label generation purposes, and cashiering
- Develop competence in third-party billing functions
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- May obtain immunization certification and perform immunizations for patients under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, where applicable
- Responsible for operating an Advocate Health-owned motor vehicle to deliver medications and other essential medical supplies as required by the designated department
Minimum Job Requirements

- Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements
- Must receive certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT) within 18 months from start date, or sooner if in more stringent in state

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, kneel, climb, twist, crawl and reach above shoulders
- Requires considerable walking, standing, pushing mobile cart of approximately 50 pounds and lifting 35 pounds of material
- Must have functional vision, touch and hearing
- Must be able to speak and be understood by others to communicate effectively
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease for which appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized to minimize exposure
- Frequent fine motor motion of hands and wrists to perform manipulative skills such as writing, typing, data entry into the computer, and preparation of medications, including use of syringes
- Takes necessary precautions to avoid inadvertent needle sticks, minor cuts or bruises. Exposed to various conditions throughout the workday such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs and changes in temperature and humidity.

$20.80 - $31.20Major Responsibilities: Patient continuum of care is supported and safe patient care provided 1)Provides efficient patient transport to, within and from the unit. 2)Assist with positioning of patients and basic patient care during procedures, such such as manipulating the outer abdominal wall of a patient to facilitate the advancement of the endoscope through the intestines. 3)The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for patient safety during electrocautery procedures ensuring proper patient grounding and proper functioning of the electrocautery equipment. 4)Lab specimens are handled in a proper efficient manner. Assist in collection, labeling and transportation of specimens to and from the Lab. 5)Assist with procedures under the guidance of the registered nurse. 6)Sets up rooms and equipment in preparation for the patient and facilitate turn around time in the procedure room. 7)Communicates pertinent information to the RN/Charge Nurse/Manager/Physician. 8)Assist in pre and post-procedure care of the patient under the guidance of a registered nurse. Duties may include, but are limited to taking vital signs, transporting patients, assisting patients to dress and undress for procedures, removing IVs. 9)Initiate or collaborate with team for all safety initiatives such as timeout process, traceability of all equipment used and reporting of safety events. Endoscopes will be cleaned and decontaminated according to SGNA standards to provide a safe environment for patient care. Demonstrates independent function in ensuring that soiled instrumentation or equipment delivered to the department is decontaminated in a manner that prevents cross-contamination or damage. Competency is demonstrated through observation and annual competency. 1)Wears protective attire when performing decontamination. 2)Follows standards of asepsis. 3)Follows established procedures to ensure decontamination is complete following SGNA guidelines. 4)Sets up decontamination equipment for operation and ensures proper function and work flow throughout the shift. 5)Maintains a neat and clean work area at all times. 6)Reports improper equipment operation to person in charge in a timely manner. 7)Handles infectious waste according to hospital policy. High level disinfection is performed in a safe and effective manner. 1)Uses appropriate testing for purpose of monitoring the function of the high level disinfection equipment on every cycle and documents the results. 2)Observes and assesses the operation of each unit for every cycle by interpreting the recorder data provided. 3)Places each item in the processor with appropriate setup to ensure high level disinfection. 4)Reports malfunction to charge person and Biomedical Engineering immediately. 5)Performs chemical and biological monitoring per department protocol. 6)May precept new employees and assist with the yearly competency testing of associates on the unit. Equipment testing will be validated and recorded. Appropriate follow up on repairs will be demonstrated. 1)Ensures that all the components of the equipment are present, assembled and ready for use each time the equipment is used or at end of shift per item protocol. 2)Tests equipment for correct function following established procedures. 3)Equipment and scopes will be sent for repair after consultation with charge person. 4)Accurate records of repairs and maintenance are kept per policy. 5)Communicates with the Biomedical Engineering department when repairs of endoscopes are necessary. Inventory for unit is maintained and other unit duties as assigned. 2)Demonstrates knowledge of computers by sending and retrieving information. (e.g.Imaging System, Tracking Board). 3)Assist with assembly and disassembling of outpatient patient charts. 4)Assist by answering the phone and communicate information to an appropriate team member. 1)Communicates with Endoscopy Technician II or leader when supplies are needed. Job Description:
The Nursing Graduate works under the direct line-of-sight supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in the patient care delivery process. The incumbent also orients to the RN assignment, excluding independent nursing care. This position may participate in medication administration under the direction and supervision of the licensed RN.
The Nursing Graduate job can be utilized for up to 12 weeks while employees are in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and are working toward preparing, testing, and passing the State Boards examination (obtaining an RN license). After that 12-week period, or if the Nursing Graduate fails the State Board exam a second time, the employee can no longer remain in the Nurse Graduate job. POSITION SUMMARY

4CD is a 26 bed Medical/Telemetry unit comprised of both private and semi-private patient rooms. Most patients are admitted by the Emergency Department, making it a great learning experience for new graduates. You will care for a very diverse population with multiple acute and chronic illnesses including COPD, CHF, chest pain, diabetes, wounds, cellulitis, stroke, pneumonia, and minor surgical patients (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, etc).

- Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, obtains necessary clinical information from patients, and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures. Adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images. Ensures safety, mental and physical comfort of patient.
- Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
- Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
