This internship will specifically focus on Intermountain’s telehealth operations, outreach functions and air ambulance operations. Telehealth at Intermountain Healthcare has an integrated approach to telehealth which removes traditional barriers to deliver a seamless experience for patients and providers - from hospitals, to outpatient clinics and patient homes. Our strategy is driven by industry leading clinical experts and embeds telehealth in care processes as a tool to accomplish clinical goals. Our technology and clinical service provides a common platform and seamless integration that allows patients to get the specialized care they need no matter where they live. The telehealth portfolio also includes our patient placement, transfer center, outreach as well as air medical transport services.
The Telehealth Administrative Summer Internship is designed to augment classroom learning and to prepare future healthcare leaders for opportunities upon graduation. The incumbent will work directly with members of the telehealth leadership team on a variety of short-term strategic and operational improvement projects. In addition, he/she will partner with an executive mentor, attend leadership meetings and participate in development workshops. The internship will be responsible for creating and implementing a process improvement initiative. Some of the previous summer intern projects include:
• Remote Patient Monitoring strategy
• Fixed wing aircraft growth strategy
• Computer vision learning monitoring planning
• Virtual Primary Care development

Job Essentials
1. Spends time with senior leaders, department directors and managers in order to understand their business environment and existing critical issues. Assists them with projects as needed.
2. Regularly attends Executive Council Meeting and attends Governing Board Meeting, Medical Executive Meeting, and Physician Committee Meeting as appropriate.
3. Selects and implements at least one project that allows for individual initiative and learning and is approved by the supervising Operations Officer, Administrator, or Vice President.
4. Assists with general administrative duties as they arise.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Demonstrated leadership ability and skills in critical thinking, strategic planning, analysis and systems thinking

About Ambulatory Care Services
Ambulatory Care Services is a division of Intermountain Health responsible for operating over 200 clinics across Idaho, Nevada, and Utah. We are hiring interns for our Canyons Region (Central to Northern Utah) and Desert Region (Southwest Utah and Nevada) Medical Group. In 2020, Intermountain Medical Group geographies created markets and regions. This unified and consolidated the leadership groups to find greater efficiencies, standardized work processes, leverage shared resources, harness technology, reduce redundancies, and give the organization greater collaboration and nimbleness. Further reorganization of clinic leadership occurred across our enterprise with this new structure now in place. Overview of the Ambulatory Care Services/ Medical Group Summer Internship
The Ambulatory Care Services Administrative Internship is designed to augment classroom learning and to prepare future healthcare leaders for opportunities upon graduation.

Work Experience
Required - 4 years experience (one year of which is in the appropriate clinical lab section) in appropriate clinical lab under a qualified Director. In the case of a technologist that rotates in general lab, the one year of experience in the appropriate section should be documented. In cases where there is no documentation of the section rotation, a signed letter from the laboratory medical director must be placed in the technologist’s file stating that the technologist has been deemed competent in that section.

The LPN is responsible for providing patient care utilizing the nursing process. • Reviews and revises patient care plans according to established policy and procedure
• Delivers direct patient care based on physicians’ orders and nursing interventions established on patient care plan as evidenced by documentation in the patient’s record
• Documents interventions and progress towards patient goals
• Demonstrates knowledge of basic laboratory values by notifying nursing manager and/or physician of any abnormalities within shift of lab data; ensures critical lab results reported within 30 minutes
• Administers and documents prescribed medications (scheduled/PRN) according to schedule and procedure
• Demonstrates initiative in performance of nursing care by securing and implementing physicians’ orders and nursing orders without direct instructions of supervisor
• Reviews and ensures implementation of all MD orders each shift
• Assists in implementation of appropriate teaching program for individual patients
• Assists in development, delivery and documentation of education to meet patient and/or family educational goals
• Patient/PCG instructed on self-care, home medications and follow up care/appointments prior to discharge and appropriate documentation completed

• Demonstrates knowledge related to the age appropriate medication doses for adolescents, adults and geriatrics; LPN’s assigned to the pediatric unit will demonstrate knowledge of medication doses for pediatric patients of all ages and will demonstrate knowledge of how to calculate dose and appropriate dosage forms available to treat pediatric patients
• Identifies drugs requiring dosage adjustments in geriatric patients; Calculates dosage reductions based on kidney function (CrCl) when appropriate
Other Functions
• Completes special projects as assigned according to established time frames
• Maintains patient care areas in a neat and clean manner according to shift assignment and established policy and procedure
• Labels patient supplies according to policy and procedure as evidenced by no omissions of supplies being dated and labeled with patient name and room number

Minimum Qualifications

Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Techs are asked to perform the four basic departmental functions (decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch) with efficiency, expertise, and accuracy. The SPD Tech will display resourcefulness, determination, courtesy, and professionalism while adhering to the standards and procedures associated with the preparation, sterilization, storage, and delivery of surgical instrumentation per Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Associates of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and CDC guidelines.
Essential Functions:
• Answers telephone promptly and assist caller with obtaining items needed
• Assembles supplies and places into case carts for scheduled and non-scheduled procedures
• Makes rounds throughout the hospital to deliver sterile and non-sterile instrumentation, supplies and equipment, and to pick-up contaminated or credit instrumentation, supplies and equipment
• Delivers scheduled case carts to the Surgery Department
• Inventories and delivers back-up case carts to the Surgery Department and required areas

• Inspects, assembles, and packages all decontaminated reusable instruments and sets ensuring for cleanliness and functionality of all instrumentation
• Operates all processing equipment used within the department
• Performs sterilization and all associated monitoring activities
• Observes all safety and security procedures; Reports potential unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly
• Assists in keeping the department organized, neat, clean, and fully stocked while providing quality customer service to all customers, including co-workers
Other Functions:
• Performs duties in a safe manner, to prevent injury to self, patients, visitors or other hospital personnel
• Contributes to maintaining supplies and sterile items for use throughout the hospital; keeps department clean, neat, and well organized
• Prioritizes work and focuses on consistent throughput
• Performs dispatch duties

Additional Job Description:
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification)
Education:
• High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
Experience:
• One (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting in a clinical capacity (preferred)
• Previous experience in sterile processing (strongly preferred)
Certification:
• Nationally recognized certification for Sterile Processing required within 12 months of hire date (required)

• Ability to use instrument washer/decontaminator; Sonic washer; Cart washer; Steam sterilizer, Hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilizer
Language Ability:
• Adequate conversational English is required to ensure the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and organizational policies
• Able to write routine reports and correspondence; able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Reasoning Ability:
• Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Must have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deliver successful results
• Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; determines course of action; develops appropriate solutions
Computer Skills:
• Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office programs
• Able to use instrument management system and One Source
• Must have the capacity to learn other relevant systems and databases, as needed
