MacNeal Hospital's Progressive Care Unit is a 25-bed unit that routinely cares for patients with complex medical conditions. Our unit specializes in angina, syncope, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and pre/post cardiac intervention. Cardiac Telemetry Nurses are trained in performing EKG's, interpreting cardiac rhythms, administration of IV cardiac medications, phlebotomy, and certified in ACLS.

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise is looking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our incredible nursing team.
This position is for Surgical Prep and Recovery located at our Regional Medical Center off I-184 and Curtis Rd.
Schedule: This is a part-time position. Must be available to work two 9-hour shifts per week. Monday-Friday from 0500-1430, no weekends, no holidays.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- You will support clinical staff at the unit level by performing clerical, receptionist and patient service coordination.
- You will perform various nursing care services and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients, as those of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) under the direction and supervision of the licensed nurse.
- Revenue Management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
- Provides direct high quality service to Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) to assist in patient care activities.
- Facilitates high quality customer service, communicating clearly with patients and families.
- Removes non controlled medications from deliver points (such as tube stations) and hands directly to RN or places in secure location.
- May act as a Unit Clerk on occasion which requires:
- Preparing, compiling, and maintaining the patient’s medical record on the nursing unit from admission through discharge on a daily basis.
- Transcribing physicians’ orders accurately.
- Processes tests and procedures as ordered by the physician, then receives results of tests and procedures and reports them to the patient caregiver.
- Notifies physicians of admissions or consultations, as directed. Directs physician to appropriate patient caregiver.
- Orders routine supplies weekly, and other supplies and equipment as necessary.
- Demonstrates utilization of proper infection control standards and practices.
- Demonstrates utilization of proper body mechanics for self and patient.
- Complies with the organization’s standards of care and Idaho Nursing Practice Act.
- May act as a Patient Visual Monitor on occasion which requires
- Maintaining visual observation at all times
- Verbally redirecting patients in person or over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room.
- Immediately summoning the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
- Documenting every 15-30 minutes, as appropriate, on Observation Flow Sheet.
- Participating in handing off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving on unit and upon completion of shift assignment.
- Seeking help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
- Participating in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety.
- Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to Charge Nurse.
- May be trained as cardiac monitoring technician based on operational needs/approvals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified Nursing Assistant Certification issued by the State of Idaho OR complete the Trinity Health Nursing Assistant Program required.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
- Six months Certified Nursing Assistant experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric as applicable).

As part of a nationally verified Level I Trauma Center, our surgical team provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient specialty procedures across a wide range of surgical services.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment alongside expert surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and multidisciplinary care teams while delivering exceptional patient-centered care throughout the perioperative experience.
Major Responsibilities:

- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care. Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
- Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy - butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
- Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.
- Participates in patient centered initiatives, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.

1)Wears proper protective attire when performing decontamination.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Essential Functions

The primary purpose of Sterile Processing is to assist in direct patient care by ensuring the OR staff has correct, fully functional, sterile instrumentation delivered in a timely manner consistent with the highest standards of customer service. Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Techs are asked to perform the four basic departmental functions (decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch) with efficiency, expertise, and accuracy. The SPD Tech will display resourcefulness, determination, courtesy, and professionalism while adhering to the standards and procedures associated with the preparation, sterilization, storage, and delivery of surgical instrumentation per Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Associates of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and CDC guidelines.
Essential Functions:
• Answers telephone promptly and assist caller with obtaining items needed
• Assembles supplies and places into case carts for scheduled and non-scheduled procedures
• Makes rounds throughout the hospital to deliver sterile and non-sterile instrumentation, supplies and equipment, and to pick-up contaminated or credit instrumentation, supplies and equipment
• Delivers scheduled case carts to the Surgery Department
• Inventories and delivers back-up case carts to the Surgery Department and required areas
• Maintains responsibility for returned instrumentation and supplies (if applicable) that is unused, and the integrity of packaging has not been compromised
• Performs cleaning and decontamination duties, working quickly and safely and thoroughly addresses all instrumentation taking into account any unique cleaning demands
• Inspects, assembles, and packages all decontaminated reusable instruments and sets ensuring for cleanliness and functionality of all instrumentation
• Operates all processing equipment used within the department
• Performs sterilization and all associated monitoring activities
• Observes all safety and security procedures; Reports potential unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly
