Job Description:
Phlebotomist I is responsible for accurate collection and handling of patient laboratory specimens for diagnostic testing according to established best practice in a manner that enhances patient and caregiver engagement.
Essential Functions
- Phlebotomist I is responsible for accurately collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing while working in a professional medical environment. This position functions as part of a dynamic and engaging team with a workload that ranges from fast-paced hospital settings and high/low volume clinics. Caregivers in this role will gain valuable experience and knowledge to help prepare them for workplace and career advancement.
- The Phlebotomist I perform specimen collection using many different techniques such as venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collections. These caregivers collect specimens from patients of various acuities, such as Outpatient, Emergency Department, and Inpatient – including newborns, patients in intensive care, and all other areas of the hospital. They are at the forefront of patient care and adhere to and enforce the standards for laboratory compliance and safety regulations.
- Adherence to personal protective requirements in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, including but not limited to gowns, gloves, lab coats, face shields, and masks.
- Intermountain Caregivers in this role will communicate procedures and instructions with patients and family members and demonstrate empathy during every interaction. They will also have opportunities for growth, developing skills such as:
- Patient registration
- Participation in CODE response teams
- Training and mentoring new staff
- Specimen Processing
- Participation in special projects
- Other laboratory responsibilities as required by site or assigned by the team or department leader.
- This position requires organizational skills, as well as the ability to navigate multiple computer systems, work well as a member of a team, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Candidates applying for a phlebotomy role are resilient and can manage stressful situations professionally.

Qualifications
- BLS Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Preferred.
- Six months of phlebotomy experience, phlebotomy training or national certification as approved by manager/supervisor. Preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or one year of Medical Assistant Experience or a current RN/LPN license
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must be obtained prior to start date
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction.

- Provides clerical, administrative, and customer service support to the department. Answers phones and provides information to nursing floor and physicians, office staff, couriers and patients. Dispatch of couriers, as required.

Major Responsibilities:

The Telemetry Technician, under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), is responsible for facilitating the telemetry monitoring of patients on a shift-to-shift basis.

- Telemetry Equipment Management: Prepare, maintain, and clean telemetry equipment, including replacing batteries and ECG leads prior to patient admission and post-discharge.
- Documentation: Accurately document ECG data, including rate, rhythm, and interval measurements, in patient records to communicate ECG history for multidisciplinary review.

Under the direction of the manager, the Patient Equipment Care Coordinator I - Facility Campus / Office is accountable for intaking, coordinating, and ensuring timely implementation of Home Medical Equipment and supply orders
Schedule: Full-time

This position fills patient orders, coordinates deliveries, and responds to patient requests in a timely manner. As a valued member of the team, this position provides important patient education and will facilitate patient set ups or fittings in a one on one situation and provides instruction to clients and caregivers in the use, care, and safety of supplies and equipment provided.
The essential job duties may also include helping customers that come into our facilities as well as supportive office work. It includes exhibiting exceptional customer service on incoming and outgoing phone calls, helping customers in a retail setting, and in fulfilling orders directly with patients. Facilitates the set-up of medical equipment and supplies to the patient by assigning the appropriate delivery method to meet customer and company needs and verifies the client specific needs and selects appropriate equipment based on assessment while adhering to physician orders. Processes Point of Sale (POS) sales request by completing computer order entry, receiving payment, and coordinating delivery or patient pick-up. Communicates any problems regarding the patient's condition and use of supplies or equipment to the appropriate staff. Demonstrates keen problem identification skills and resolution abilities and addresses concerns in a timely manner and maintains an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party billing requirements and all components of Homecare's equipment order processing system.
The Patient Equipment Care Coordinator I – Facility Campus / Office is responsible for all of the duties assigned to the Patient Equipment Care Specialist – Facility Campus / Office, listed above, with additional responsibilities of general Office / Operations Support: Supports office operations by ordering, stocking, and tracking inventory. (Requires specific training and use of SCO software and processes) and working with SCO and local site to coordinate the acquisition of appropriate medical equipment and supplies with the HME store to maintain acceptable par levels in stock. - Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and disinfect surgical instruments in alignment with proficiencies of our education system in addition to basic medical procedures and 2+ surgical specialties.

Level 3

- Identify, Assemble, protect, wrap, contain, peel pack, label and sterilize surgical instruments in alignment with proficiencies of our education system in addition to basic procedures and 4+ surgical specialties including higher acuity procedures (i.e. Orthopedics, neuro, and Vascular).
- Perform, read, validate and record all biological and chemical sterilization tests and parameters before making equipment available for use.
- Perform and document daily and weekly testing of decontamination and sterilization equipment. Clean, troubleshoot and correctly use CP equipment.
- Work with medical equipment/instrumentation vendors to check-in, prepare, sterilize and check-out requested equipment/instrumentation

- Teach, train, orient and precept students and new SPD caregivers explaining concepts in addition to modeling correct and safe practice. Help validate all our basic competencies for Sterile Processing within our education system.

Minimum Qualifications (Level 2-3)
- Central Processing Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Experience with Sterile Processing Department software
- CER or CIS certification through HSPA (Level 3)
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
