Full time day. Includes 12 hour variable shifts throughout the week.
Pay Range:
$25.30 - $37.95Major Responsibilities:- Provides direct patient care according to established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Assists with assessment by collecting and documenting data, actions and responses including biological, psychological, social and cultural factors. Detects significant changes in patient condition and reports these to the registered nurse.
- Assists with developing the plan of care and implements as directed by the registered nurse.
- Supports and reinforces patient teaching according to individualized plan of care.
- Documents performance of nursing interventions and patient's response to those interventions and communicates effectiveness of interventions and changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
- Communicates changes in medical orders to the registered nurse.
- Performs clinical tasks or skills such as medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, venipuncture, etc.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
Education Required:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
Experience Required:
- No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive relationships with a variety of patients, family, staff and physicians.
- Good organization, prioritization and problem solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to:
- lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

- Provides work direction to the clinical and support staff with responsibility for the coordination of resources to efficiently support procedures, day-to-day operations and the smooth flow of patients through the department.
- Provides support for direct patient care by performing the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic, and quality care through assessment of patients, establishment and implementation of the nursing care plan, and evaluation of clinical outcomes when necessary. Promotes an environment conducive to the delivery of safe, efficient and quality patient care, which may include performing patient rounding on a daily basis.
- Coordinates the needs of the patient care team by initiating service complaint follow-up when necessary and promoting communication among patients, families, hospital departments and medical staff to optimize the interdependence of team members.
- Acts as a resource to employees, which includes training/orienting, providing day-to-day work direction, and giving input on performance. Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work, directs efforts and provides guidance on more complex issues in collaboration with the unit leadership.
- Assists with human resource responsibilities, which may include: interviewing and selection of new employees, resolution of employee concerns, and employee moral or other duties as assigned in collaboration with unit leadership.
- Monitors employee assignments and works on assignments for the unit. Evaluates staffing levels and makes adjustments as necessary to maintain productivity level established for assigned area(s).
- Monitors the quality of care provided. Assists in ensuring policies and procedures are followed in compliance with the medical center, the Nursing department, and regulatory and peer review agencies.
- Provides input to budget and ensures adequate supplies and equipment and inventory are available for both the delivery of safe patient care and a safe work environment.
- Works with management in developing new and existing programs and services.
- Works with vendors for requested products and coordinates in-services for equipment. Participates in product trials, and submits recommendations to management in collaboration with the unit Educator or CNS.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure:

Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Related Field; or Associate Degree and enrolled in BSN program within 2 years of hire and complete BSN degree within 5 years Typically requires 3 years of experience in clinical nursing within an acute care setting.

- Demonstrates a holistic approach to nursing practice committed to meeting the needs of the patient and family. Clinical and technical knowledge in area(s) of specialty. This position provides staffing support across a variety of 10-hour shifts to meet operational needs. The schedule includes a mix of daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday coverage on a rotating basis. Typical shifts include 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and 12:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., based on department needs.

This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process. This position is accountable for documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care they deliver to patients. Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinating workflow and approving medications prior to being dispensed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served. Must assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Processes medication orders and evaluates their appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data including age, height, weight, diagnosis, laboratory values, and other pertinent patient information.
2. Utilizes clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens and formulates recommendations to ensure optimal safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness for all prescribed medication therapies. Contacts the prescriber with suggestions for improvement and resolves problems with medication orders as needed. Serves as a resource for patients and the health care team. Provides requested medication information in a timely manner.
3. Complies with directives of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group. Documents activities related to patient care in the electronic medical record and other electronic databases as applicable (e.g. pharmacist to pharmacist/provider communication, adverse drug event reporting, and clinical interventions).
4. Drives their professional development through the utilization of BPS educational resources to achieve competence in the current and future BH acute pharmacy core clinical practices and activities. Additionally, assist with training and onboarding of new staff as applicable.
5. Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile or non-sterile compounded medications, in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with company policies and procedures and established regulatory requirements. Coordinates medication preparation and distribution and ensures accuracy prior to dispensing medications.
6. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, which may include management of technology, inventory management, and accurate record keeping. Supervises and directs the work of pharmacy technicians, interns, and students.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
If not licensed in the state of practice, must have completed the Board of Pharmacy application process within 30 days of job offer. Must be licensed within 90 days of hire unless the delay is due to the State Board of Pharmacy.
Banner Registry and Travel positions require a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license (not intern) at the time of hire and a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a pharmacist in the specialty area.
Must possess good organizational, problem solving, and computer skills. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts. Must be able to use reference tools to evaluate patient care and answer questions posed by customers.
Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Automated dispensing system.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

Job Description:
The Pharmacy Technician demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The position participates in many procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or technician supervisor and is an integral part of the pharmacy team. This position supports Pharmacy Services in all locations (i.e., acute, community, ambulatory, specialty).
This is a Swing Part-Time position with 2-3 8 hour shifts per week. 1 weekend per month and 2 holidays per year with the potential to pick up shifts.
Essential Functions
- Assists with all phases of pharmacy services while under the supervision of a pharmacist as required by state of practice and job duties.
- Answers phones and provides excellent customer service as appropriate to practice site.
- Assists the pharmacist in collecting clinical and other patient information and maintaining appropriate records as required by regulation and policy.
- Utilizes pharmacy technology effectively to prepare medication orders for dispensing, performs calculations as necessary, and compounds medications for accurate compounding as appropriate to practice site, in accordance with state law, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Attains appropriate supervision and accuracy checks by the pharmacist(s) and clearly understands when a pharmacist must verify tasks and activities.

- Packages and labels medications accurately and appropriately to minimize waste as appropriate to practice site and job duties.
