Position Purpose:
The Registered Cardiovascular Sonographer is responsible for performing Vascular diagnostic testing as per Accreditation Guidelines. Reports preliminary findings for physician interpretation, Functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.
What you will do:
Reviews physician orders to ensure correct procedure and correctly identifies patients.
Patient Care: Performs all studies according to policy and procedures and standards established by Accreditating body. Abnormal pathology reported appropriately. Explains procedures to patients, answers patient's questions. Ensures comfort of patient. Assists with patient transport as needed.
Documentation: Obtains pertinent health history. Enters accurate and complete data in diagnostic testing equipment and documentation system. Ensures accuracy of reports prior to dispatch.
Collaboration/Communication: Communicates pertinent patient data to appropriate team members. Collaborates with other departments to provide optimum patient care.
Equipment Resource Management: Knowledgeable of all equipment pertinent to specific area of testing. Able to perform basic trouble-shooting. Participates in evaluation of new equipment.
Initiative: Responsible for personal professional development. Maintains registry status or actively pursues registry. Responsible for completion of annual competencies. Participates in accreditation/re-accreditation process.
Computer Skills: Utilizes computers appropriate to areas of testing effectively, including timekeeping system, clinical information systems and the intranet.
Performance Improvement: Assists in development of department monitors and data collection. Participates in PI work groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associates or bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
Licensure/Certification:
1. Registered by the ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) as
a. RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist)
OR
2. Registered by CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) as
a. RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist)
OR
3. ARDMS or CCI Board-eligible AND achieve certification within 12-months of hire
Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in cardiovascular imaging preferred.
Effective Communication Skills
BLS certification required.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
Certification / Registration / License
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services

Experience
Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

- Serve as the lead contact and resource for a team of six Imaging Assistants within the MRI department

Major Responsibilities:
- Acts as a resource to employees and students, which includes training/orienting, providing day-to-day work direction, and giving input on performance. Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work, monitors productivity, maintains appropriate staffing levels, directs efforts and provides guidance on more complex issues.
- Assists with human resource responsibilities, which may include interviewing and selection of new employees, staff development, providing performance feedback, resolution of employee concerns, and employee morale.
- Assists in interpreting department policies and procedures, and advises and updates staff on procedural changes. Identifies performance improvement opportunities within the department and facilitates change. Monitors inventory levels, labor productivity and assist with managing department resources.

- Greets patients and visitors and responds to routine requests for information, reports or film loans. Promptly answers telephone, screens calls, schedules patient appointments, and takes messages. Assists patient in preparation for exam and transferring patients to and from exam rooms. Provides basic instruction to patients regarding routine procedures, i.e. changing clothes, position for exams, etc.
- Uses radiology computer systems to generate requisitions, check schedules, and obtain pertinent patient information. Organizes and prepares exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
- Provides radiology reports and/or radiographic images to staff, physicians, patients and/or family upon request. Files, retrieves, and releases health information records and films. Compiles film jackets/discs and completes required forms/documentation.
- Documents requested information and promptly communicates observations, concerns, and needs of the patient with physicians and other members of the health care team.
- Transports patients between departments and escorts patients, families, and visitors as needed.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.

Major Responsibilities:
- Evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute, critical and chronic patients illness and diseases within an inpatient hospital setting.
- Obtains medical histories, conducts physical examinations and assesses and determines differential diagnosis. Prescribes medication, therapy and treatments accordingly.
- Interprets and evaluates patient data for the purpose of determining management and treatment of patients. Performs minor surgeries and routine procedures. Consults with physician as appropriate. Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies in the field of clinical specialty trained and determined competent by a physician.
- Adjusts patient care plan by reviewing and monitoring treatments and therapy plans. Counsels, instructs and educates patients on physical and mental health including: diet, preventive health measures, health behaviors, self-care skills, disease, treatment options, and normal growth and development.
- Provides care coordination, which includes managing a variety of ancillary services, pre-operative plans, discharge planning, provider referrals and medical devices such as insulin pumps, defibrillators, and pacemakers.
- Prescribes, recommends and regulates pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies across multiple care settings, including controlled medications that are warranted by patient's diagnosis or changing medical condition.
- Prepares, dictates and signs patient care plans and summaries of patient care. Maintains records according to established standards and guidelines.
- Provides clinical direction to nursing staff regarding the continued care of patients. Follows through with nursing staff to ensure patient receives recommended care.

This position is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing and treatment of injuries, diseases, and disabilities using physical therapy procedures and modalities in accordance with standard physical therapy practices. In addition, this position is responsible for consulting, educating, and training patients, families, and caregivers and for collaborating with care teams and stakeholders to deliver quality, patient centered care.

Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapist license in states where you work.

Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
