What Registered Nurse RN will need:
A Degree from an accredited school/college of nursing is required - BSN or ADN
BLS Provider (accredited by the American Heart Association) required prior to hire
Illinois Board of Nursing license prior to hire

Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift, 4x10's, Weekends & Holidays Required
Location: Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL
BSN Pay Range: $36.05 - $59.92 per hour
ADN Pay Range: $32.90 - $57.06 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.

This job assumes responsibility for and leads the daily operations of mobile blood bank personnel and processes; and performs quality control, operates computer, and other administrative duties per instruction of Supervisor. Maintains donor/patient/employee confidentiality; assumes responsibility for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of work activities; provides leadership and coordinates the resources of the mobile drive to achieve quality customer satisfaction, and will implement policies and procedures required for success. Supervises initiatives to improve processes, maximize efficiency, and serve internal and external customers, and maintain high employee morale. Performs all duties of a Blood Bank Tech and oversees donor reaction care by all staff, handles emergent donor reaction care, and ensures all donor reaction documentation and follow-up action is completed.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
Required - 5 years experience in a healthcare-related field
Preferred - Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity
Certifications
Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Required - Current Driver's License in the state of practice. Must have an excellent driving record to operate company owned vehicles.

Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.

Analytical skills necessary in order to perform calculations, operate donor collection equipment, computers and printers.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.

The 8th floor Med/Surg specializes in caring for a variety of both medical and surgical patients. We provide inpatient care to patients with multiple diagnoses including sepsis, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, gastrointestinal, respiratory, cardiac-tele monitored, infectious, kidney, and liver diseases. We also offer surgical care for pre/ post orthopedic surgeries, general surgeries such as bowel resections/ ostomies, pre/post laparoscopic procedure, bladder surgeries, and plastics. Caregivers utilize the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

EXPERIENCE:

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Pass Basic Aseptic Technique class.

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and instruments with precision and accuracy. This includes computer use and typing for documentation, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position with personal protective equipment for an extended period of time.
