Geisinger's Cancer Institute is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our inpatient cancer team at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) in Danville, PA.This individual will perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. APP will ultimately be an advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.
Location: Living in central PA offers convenient community living, a balanced professional career, and proximity to New York City, Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
Job Duties:
- Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
- Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
- Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients in coordination with the outpatient cancer institute team.
- Participate with joints rounds with attending and fellows.
- Obtains or assists in the prior auth process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments as time allows.
- Once competent, will perform bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures.
- Involvement in BMT meetings and implementing BMT policies and procedures as time allows.
- Assistance in implementing Geisinger and/or Cancer institute special initiatives as time allows.
Work is typically performed in a clinical inpatient environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Under the direction of the RN circulator as dictated by the standards in the Medicare Conditions of Participation for surgical services, assists surgical teams during operative procedures in scrubbing for all physicians in assigned services. Arranges and inventories sterile set up for operations. Assists in preparing moving and positioning patients. Performs sterile scrub procedures and related activities such as preparation and draping the patient and operative area. Passes instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies in accordance with hospital policy and procedure. Participates in the turnover of operating rooms.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates independent functioning and proficiency in the scrub role in all cases in assigned specialty on an ongoing basis. Scrubs for all physicians in assigned service area, providing high quality evidenced-based clinical care with minimal supervision. Promotes teamwork within the team by formally precepting co-workers.
2. Prepares the Operating Room for cases. Selects and checks case cart and preference cards for correct instrument pan(s), packs, sterile supplies and additional items needed for the case.
3. Anticipates need for special equipment and supplies before procedure and requests it from the circulating nurse. Sets up back table and Mayo tray with instruments and supplies according to the procedure and surgeon preference card. Performs surgical count with circulating nurse according to UMMMC surgical count policy.
4. Responds to needs of surgeon and other team members. Assists operative team and anticipates needs of the surgeon and/or assistants during cases including the need for special equipment and supplies. Remains constantly observant of the operative field, recognizing emergency situations and performs emergency procedures as directed. Utilizes a variety of OR equipment such as microscopes, CUSA, steam sterilizers, suction, compressed air/gas, etc.
5. Passes and tracks instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures. Labels all medication and solutions on sterile field. Monitors sponges, needles and instruments throughout the case. Cares for specimens to prevent loss or damage. Uses caution when handling specimens to ensure proper anatomical identification.

1. Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology having obtained the required surgical technologists certification as of the date of hire.
2. All Surgical Technologist Certified employees will have obtained a surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists.
3. Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification every two years. Maintains AST membership, required educational units and AST certification.

I. Major Responsibilities:

8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
11. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.
12. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
14. Provides respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication with patients, staff, family, visitors and others.
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.
16. Requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.
17. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.
18. Has the ability to precept new Patient Care Technicians.

Major Responsibilities:
Interprets physician referrals and evaluates the patient's physical, perceptual, cognitive, social, and vocational abilities and their impact on the patient's activities of daily living.
Establishes a plan of care and implements individual treatment based on evaluation results, functional goals and by utilizing appropriate techniques. Provides and/or fabricates assistive devices and/or splints to enhance patient's functional independence. Monitors and evaluates outcomes and appropriately adjusts individualized treatment plan based on patient's response and provides status updates to physicians and other teammates. Identifies factors affecting patient's physical and psychosocial comfort and attends to these needs.
Plans for and completes patient discharge including providing written home programs, patient/family teaching, referral for community services, transition planning within the continuum of care and ordering equipment as indicated/appropriate. Communicates and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to assist in achieving optimum care for the patient.

Establishes a plan of care and implements individual treatment based on evaluation results and functional goals and by utilizing appropriate techniques. Monitors and evaluates outcomes and appropriately adjusts the individualized treatment plan based on the patient's response to treatment and provides status updates to physicians and other teammates. Plans for and completes patient discharge including providing written home programs, patient/family teaching, referral for community services, transition planning within the continuum of care and ordering equipment as indicated/appropriate. Communicates and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to assist in achieving optimum care for the patient.
Completes all required documentation following department policy and accreditation standards with appropriate co- signatures, including patient evaluations, progress notes, team conference reports, and discharge summaries as appropriate. We have an amazing team that is passionate about providing excellent care for neonates and their family. Skills include lactation support, neurodevelopmental care, CPAP, ventilators, chest tubes, extended dwell IV lines, surfactant administration, delivery attendance with neonatal resuscitation.
Full time, 36 hours a week, nights, self-scheduling every 8 weeks. There is weekend and holiday requirements.

Clinical Practice Details
- You would practice at our CT Surgery clinic and Intermountain Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, CO
- Rotating schedule with 4 total PAs, including 24-hour call coverage and weekend rounding
- Occasional call and rounding at St. Joseph Hospital, a sister facility in Denver
- First assist in cardiac/thoracic surgeries; minimal vascular case load including dialysis access
- On average, one case per day
- MUSThave proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting
- Place foley catheters and invasive lines
- Team responsibilities include ICU/ telemetry rounding, discharges and first assist coverage for all cases

What you’ll bring

Scope
The Medical Director - Gynecology, St. George Regional Hospital is a hospital administrative leadership role with regional and enterprise participation expectations as appropriate. The position reports through the hospital Chief Medical Officer and collaborates closely with hospital administration, nursing leadership, operations leadership, the OB/GYN Department Chair or equivalent medical staff leader, the Senior Medical Director for Women’s Health, and applicable clinical program and specialty leaders.
The role encompasses gynecologic care provided within St. George Regional Hospital, including inpatient gynecology, benign gynecologic surgery, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, urogynecology procedures, reproductive endocrinology procedures performed in the hospital, gynecologic oncology services, perioperative care, consultation services, and gynecologic emergency care. The role does not include accountability for outpatient clinics or clinic operations and does not include employment decisions or direct supervisory accountability for physicians or advanced practice providers. Employment-related matters remain with each clinician’s employer. The Medical Director may participate in hospital medical staff, credentialing, privileging, peer review, quality, safety, and professional practice processes within the authority of those established structures.

- Participate in peer review, HEAT reviews, root cause analyses, rapid event investigations, case reviews, and other established quality and patient safety processes involving gynecologic care; communicate lessons learned and support resulting clinical or protocol improvements.
- Address clinical quality, safety, professionalism, or performance concerns through appropriate hospital medical staff, including the Department Chair and Medical Executive Committee, and quality structures. Minimum Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Emergency Dept Unit Clerk FT 7a-7pThe ED Unit Clerks serve as the department facilitators, aiding in all processes outside of direct patient care to ensure patient care can happen correctly and efficiently. This is achieved by working very closely with the ED Charge Nurse and the ED Flow Coordinator to help manage the department and patient flow within the department. The ED Unit Clerk is responsible for all clerical duties within the department; including answering a 13-line phone system, all encounter scanning, copying, and faxing. • ED Unit Clerks are responsible for calling and initiating hospital call downs for the ED. This includes tier 1 and tier 2 trauma calls, AMIs, and Strokes, as well as calling down Code Black Level 1 and 2 for the hospital.
• Monitors and operates the 13 bed camera Patient Safety Surveillance program for patients who require extra visual and auditory monitoring.
• Responsible for scanning all encounter level documents into patient charts for emergency room physicians, nurses, and ED Techs. Also provide encounter scanning for Case Management/MSW, for all law enforcement documentation and subpoena information, and for the ED Pharmacy Department. This ensures the proper documentation is compiled for patients, creating the most accurate and complete medical record.
• Arrange and facilitate all patient EMS transfers out of the ED including transfers to nursing facilities, home to patients’ current residence, to KNI for imaging not offered at Bronson, and to KPEP for those patients who qualify. ED Unit Clerks are the only ED employees trained to use the Bronson Transfer Tracking Application.
• Facilitates and monitors the ED’s admission process. Responsibilities range from ensuring the ED Physician pages the correct admitting provider, to broadcasting to the team when the patient has a clean and ready inpatient hospital bed assignment. This helps ED staff expedite moving patients to inpatient status in a timely manner in order to reach SBAR and GEMBA goals, as well as provide the best possible care to patients.
• Facilitates ordering priority 1 blood and initiates massive transfusion protocols with the blood bank. ED Unit Clerks also do the “running” for massive transfusions, which entails retrieving the products from the blood bank and delivering back to the ED.
• Responsible for obtaining medical records from any and all outside hospitals for continuation of patient care for ED Physicians. Collects and encounter scans all requested records into the patients chart.
• Create a daily Physician call schedule for all consulting and emergent services offered by BMH. This involves maintaining and collecting all on-call schedules for all relevant offices and medical groups in the Kalamazoo/BMH area.

Education
Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
Required - None.
Certifications
Required - Current licensed practical nursing (LPN) license in state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred - IV therapy credentials.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs
Excellent organizational and time management skills and self directed and demonstrate good judgement.
Good interpersonal and delegation skills.
Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Job Duties
Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care through data gathering, planning and evaluation.
Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Communicates effectively and professionally with all patients, guests, family members and co-workers to ensure a quality patient experience.
Adapts to rapid change in a positive manner throughout the day as needs of the unit / department change.
