At Houston Methodist, the Registered Nurse (RN) II position is a licensed staff nurse, an experienced clinician, functions at the Competent to Proficient stage of Benner's model of clinical practice. The RN II position provides professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, conducts nursing assessments, assists with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. The RN II position provides direct patient care effectively and efficiently which may include patients with varied and complex needs. This position communicates and collaborates with the physicians and interprofessional health care team to facilitate, coordinate and maintain compassionate, efficient, quality care and achievement of desired treatment outcomes. The RN II position demonstrates clinical competence when providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies, acting as a patient and family advocate in order to monitor and maintain patient rights. This position assumes leadership roles with progressive responsibility including but not limited to participating in or leading unit and shared governance initiatives, serving as charge nurse or preceptor to students or new employees, and possibly contributing to service line or hospital-wide initiatives in partnership with management.

EDUCATION

- RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure – Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency) and
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and
- NIHSTROKE - National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (AHA) - American Heart Association within 4 months

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows the patient and family-centered care standards, as outlined in the Houston Methodist Professional Nursing Practice document. Conducts nursing assessments, assists with exams and treatment, and maintenance of medical records. Practices in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
- Develops, updates and communicates plan of care, including discharge, in partnership with the patient, family and interprofessional health care team, using the nursing process. - Contributes towards meeting department financial targets on unit-based scorecard through decreasing length of stay, optimizing efficiency and other areas according to department specifications.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identifies and presents areas for innovation, efficiency and improvement in patient care or unit operations using evidence-based practice literature. Offers innovative solutions through evidence-based practice/performance improvement projects and shared governance activities.
- Champions new care pathways or service line implementation to improve service to the community. Identifies trends for improvement opportunities or practice changes and supports initiatives. Researches the change and presents options to shared governance and leadership.

$19.80 - $29.70Major Responsibilities:- Coordinates tests and treatments with and between various departments for patients on nursing units. Maintains working knowledge of functions and services offered by all diagnostic and treatment departments to facilitate the scheduling of tests and treatments.
- Facilitates communications required to support patient care including multiple-line telephone, unit/site paging and hospital information system. Screens incoming telephone calls. Monitors department office equipment and troubleshoots minor problems. Arranges repair of major malfunctions.
- Maintains working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and other computer systems for ordering patient and unit supplies and equipment. Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedures through the system.
- Compiles necessary chart forms for admissions, transfers, discharges and expirations. Obtains appropriate copies of medical records for transfers to nursing homes and other health care facilities.
- Verifies medical records contain complete and accurate patient demographic information, patient identification and registration in the medical record, including appropriate level of care.
- Establishes and maintains positive customer relations and contributes to a harmonious work environment. Quickly and courteously acknowledges requests, responds to call lights, demonstrates proper phone etiquette and fosters communication between the health care team.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Our progressive care unit is a 16-bed unit caring for our cardiothoracic surgery (CTS) patient population-lobe resections, esophagectomy, etc. Cardiac overflow patients, stroke, increase monitoring capabilities, cardiac drips, insulin drips, overflow patients needing higher acuity of care. This unit offers an excellent learning environment for both newly licensed and experienced RNs.

Job Description:
The Pharmacy Technician demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The position participates in many procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or technician supervisor and is an integral part of the pharmacy team. This position supports Pharmacy Services in all locations (i.e., acute, community, ambulatory, specialty).
This position will cover the various technician roles within the department including central, decentral, controlled substances, sterile compounding, and operating room role. These shift vary between eight to twelve hours depending on the role that they are covering and the needs of the department. The primary start times for these roles are 6:30am-7:30am or 2:30pm. Holidays are in a rotating four block schedule with 3 shifts per year.
Essential Functions
- Assists with all phases of pharmacy services while under the supervision of a pharmacist as required by state of practice and job duties.
- Answers phones and provides excellent customer service as appropriate to practice site.
- Assists the pharmacist in collecting clinical and other patient information and maintaining appropriate records as required by regulation and policy.
- Utilizes pharmacy technology effectively to prepare medication orders for dispensing, performs calculations as necessary, and compounds medications for accurate compounding as appropriate to practice site, in accordance with state law, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Attains appropriate supervision and accuracy checks by the pharmacist(s) and clearly understands when a pharmacist must verify tasks and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Collaborates with all members of the patient care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs interventional and therapeutic cardiac or electrophysiology procedures including but not limited to peripheral and coronary angioplasty, stents, rotablators, artherectomy, laser, and coronary ultrasound; electrophysiology procedures including ablations and device implantation; fluoroscopy and cine modalities, as well as recommending various radiological techniques to maximize best visualization of patient’s cardiac anatomy.
- Actively participates and scrubs into Cath Lab cases to assist with the movement and alignment of equipment as while as the control of radiation throughout procedures.
- Provides care for the physical needs of patients by executing various Radiologic concepts to maximize performance. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications / limitations associated with certain procedures. Proactively identifies how to address these for optimum outcomes.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows radiation safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job, departmental and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
- Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into documentation system to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities and contributes to meeting departmental and hospital targets for quality and safety.
- Ensures all imaging equipment has had QC performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.

Performs laboratory testing of biological specimens in an acute setting in any/all specialty areas using manual or automated techniques. Uses independent judgment and cognitive skills to report timely and accurate laboratory results.
Major Responsibilities:
- Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated. Monitors workflow and makes necessary adjustments to complete work in an appropriate timeframe.
- Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness. Follows prescribed policy in the reporting and notification of test results.
- Performs and documents calibration and maintenance of instruments and equipment. Performs and documents quality control; evaluates quality control results and takes corrective action when indicated.
- Recognizes indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction and makes basic corrections by using prescribed strategies, or notifies the Medical Technologist, site coordinator or supervisor. Performs internal and external proficiency testing in the same manner as patient samples.
- Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol. Ascertains specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
- Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff.
- Assists in improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory procedures, policies, and processes. Ensures compliance with all accrediting agency standards, supporting CAP Regulatory requirements in an acute setting,
- Performs all internal and external proficiency testing in the same manner as patient samples.
- Performs specialty testing in areas including transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry. Supports the disease specific accreditations of an institution by meeting turn- around time goals.
- Provides direct support and timely, accurate laboratory results for critical care departments such as the ED, ICU and OR during a high acuity patient event. This includes transfusion services, attending codes, performing testing on irretrievable samples, tissue grinding and gram stains, mass casualty procedures, and mass transfusion procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Job Description:
Select Health is a not-for-profit community health plan serving more than 1 million members in the Intermountain West. Select Health’s line of businesses (LOB) includes Medicare, Medicaid, FEHB, Marketplace Qualified Health Plans and fully funded and self-funded Commercial plans. This position is responsible for providing physician peer review and clinical direction for Select Health including utilization management, case management, appeals, criteria and policy development and other projects as needed. This position is responsible for working with all the departments of Select Health, but primarily Utilization Management, Benefits Determination, Quality Improvement, Behavioral Health, Pharmacy Services, other Select Health Departments, and other Intermountain Health division as needed to implement policies and programs for the Office of the Medical Director to manage the provider panel and to maintain high customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Coverage & Benefits determinations: Act as the first level of reviews and appeals for panel providers or members' concerns regarding coverage/benefits issues or quality of care.
- Utilization Management: Assist in the development and review of Utilization Management screening criteria & policies used in the preauthorization process. Participate in the yearly guideline review process. Participate in ongoing evaluation of the UM process.
- Participate in a physician specialty panel to assist in peer review of cases and specified turnaround times by accreditation or licensing bodies.
- Education: Provide clinical education to members of the UM/CM and HCS staff as necessary to perform their function.
- Preauthorization and appeals: Review preauthorization requests which fail to pass criteria as applied by staff and document those utilization and case management decisions appropriately in the care management system.
- Committees: Represent Select Health on committees as assigned by the Medical Director.
- Delivery Improvement: Serve as a resource for the Select Health Medical Director in recommending ways to improve health services delivery and reduce medical expenses without compromising quality of care. Constantly stress and strive for cost-effectiveness on the part of physicians and ancillary health care providers.
- Certification Requirements: Assist and support Health Care Services departments as needed in maintaining NCQA, HEDIS, and CAHPS certification, and other contractual requirements such as Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, exchange plans and FEHB compliance.
- Medical Policy: In cooperation with Medical Director, writes and updates medical policies.
- Interacts with the delivery system including clinical programs, individual physicians and clinics to align care process models and clinical practice to evidence based standards.

Minimum Qualifications
- Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree with Board Certification in specialty. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
- Requires current MD or DO licensure within the State of Utah, Idaho, Nevada or Colorado
- Five years of experience in clinical practice.
- Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training in clinical quality improvement.
- Prior experience with Intermountain Health.
- Experience working in an integrated healthcare system.
- Knowledge of managed care products and processes as well as the impact of managed care on the market and cost of health care.
- Knowledge of the NCQA accreditation standards and process.
- Understanding of health care delivery system as it relates to government programs and agencies
