- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic, team focused work unit that actively helps one another to achieve optimal department results. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner.
- Guides and mentors Radiologic Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities. Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement.
- Facilitates open, professional (verbal, nonverbal, written) communication to achieve mutual understanding, role modeling by example. Communication to promote both work efforts and problem resolution is clear and professional, providing the highest quality service during every customer and patient encounter
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs diagnostic radiology procedures to include a variety of X-Ray exams, including OR and Fluoroscopy procedures.
- Proactively assesses, identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
- Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology and language.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Uses ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to protect patients, staff and general public, and follows radiation safety standards. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
- Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate.
- Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventative maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.
- Assists with implementation and education of department based safety initiatives and standards of practice
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.
- Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.

- Actively participates in special projects, department initiatives or shared governance activities and seeks opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development. Completes and updates the individual development plan (IDP) on an on-going basis.
- Fosters a positive and constructive teaching environment by engaging students and co-workers (Radiologic Technologist I) in learning opportunities that are valuable and in alignment with business objectives.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
A Respiratory Therapist performs patient assessment, evaluation for appropriate therapy, administration of therapy, consultation with other health care providers, diagnostic testing, implementation and troubleshooting of equipment and monitoring of patient. These services are provided as appropriate for patient age to include neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric adult.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, helium-oxygen therapy, carbon dioxide-oxygen therapy, nitric oxide-oxygen therapy, CPAP therapy, BIPAP therapy, bland aerosol therapy, PEP therapy, high-frequency oscillator therapy, and ventilatory support modalities as ordered by physician.
- Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assists or performs intubation, manages artificial airway, and transport of patients requiring ventilatory support.
- Assembles, manipulates, and troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical percussors.
- Interprets diagnostic results for feasibility and reports results, to include blood or other body fluid analysis by blood gas analyzer and co-oximeter, pulmonary function screening, pulmonary mechanics studies, end-tidal C02, and pulse oximetry.
- Performs record keeping, billing and medical record documentation functions.
- Provides patient instruction in the use of Respiratory Care devices and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of completion from an accredited Respiratory Care Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP).
- Credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.

Utilizes aseptic surgical techniques in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures (e.g., assistance with gowning and gloving; preparation and draping of the surgical area; provision of a sterile field, instruments, suture and related materials; anticipation of the Surgeons' needs; passing of instruments and/or supplies; holding of retractors, observing and reporting possible breaks in aseptic technique; and assisting in maintaining a sterile, dry, unobstructed field).
- Performs all types of procedures and maintains basic knowledge of a variety of procedures.
- Ensures the environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room. This includes setting up the room for each case including moving equipment (i.e., tables, cameras, microscopes, fracture table, and instrument pans), operating the various types of equipment used during operating room procedures, and returning equipment post procedure.
- Functions as a Second Assistant as necessary.
- Notifies appropriate staff of equipment and supply problems.
- Transports patients and/or equipment and supplies.
- Maintains a specialty cart or item, ensuring its completeness and availability. This includes checking the working condition of equipment, sterility, and sending damaged items out for repair.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. About this role:
As a Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider with Intermountain Health, you will be an integral part of our Southwest Utah Neonatology Team, which includes 3 Neonatologists and 8 Neonatal APPs. We provide care at St George Regional Hospital's level III 24 bed NICU, with a growing presence at Cedar City Hospital's special care nursery.
- In this role, you will provide care at both St George Regional and Cedar City Hospital, with an overall goal of keeping babies and mothers together in hospital whenever medically appropriate, reducing their life flight and transfer costs.
- You will attend deliveries, allowing for immediate resuscitation assistance.
- While you will see a wide variety of acuity and complexity in cases, your care will have a particularly significant impact on allowing babies to stay in Cedar City when they fail a CPAP trial and are 34 weeks gestation or greater.
- Supported by qualified staff including RNs, Respiratory Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Dietitians, CNAs, among others. You'll have opportunity to provide education to these team members, and build collegial, trusting relationships with local pediatricians.
- Our APPs report directly to an AP Team Lead, who is also a practicing Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
- Full time, when working in Cedar City your schedule will include 12-hour day shifts. In St George, shifts are taken in 24-hour increments as we are a 24/7 service in hospital.
