Job Description:
The Security Officer provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers, typically in an office or ambulatory clinic setting. This position is responsible to monitor visitor or patient activity, monitor the premises in and around the facility , enforce policy, provide assistance and direction, respond to emergencies, and to provide protection for employees, visitors, and Intermountain property.
Essential Functions
- Operates and monitors security technology systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems. Ensures proper functioning and maintenance of security equipment.
- De-escalation: Security officers use verbal and non-verbal strategies to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully, minimizing the need for physical force.
- Dealing with Violent Patients: They intervene to protect the safety of everyone involved when patients act aggressively or violently, including using physical restraints when necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with regulations such as HIPAA when reporting crimes or incidents, disclosing only the minimum necessary information to law enforcement.
- Bomb Threat/Suspicious Package Responses: Trained to respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages, following protocols to ensure the safety of the facility.
- Participation in Drills: Engaging in exercises like infant abduction and active shooter scenarios to prepare staff for real-life situations.
- Conducting Searches: Performing respectful and safe searches of patients and searching for narcotics, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Safety Inspections: Conducting inspections of walking surfaces, fire extinguishers, and overall facility safety to mitigate risks.
- Parking Enforcement: Enforcing parking regulations to ensure safety and accessibility, focusing on enhancing the patient experience.
- Investigations: Collaborating with HR and law enforcement to conduct investigations, following protocols for disclosing patient information, and ensuring facility safety.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current Driver’s License (if applicable for the role).
- Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- At least 21 years of age.
- If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- One-year previous law enforcement, corrections, public safety, military police or security experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers require employees to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

1. 5. Documents assigned tasks according to policy and procedures of the unit
6. Cleans all patient equipment as per policy, tags defective equipment and notifies appropriate department for repair.
7. Performs efficiently in emergency situations i.e. Code 68, Code Yellow
8. Prepares and/or transports patients and performs courier duties for the department. (i.e. interunit transfers)
9. Restocks and ensures adequate supplies for patient care such as isolation supplies, linen, etc. per unit.
10. Monitors and records temperature logs according to unit.
11. Maintains a neat and orderly nursing unit, hallway and utility room.

- Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assists or performs intubation, manages artificial airway, and transport of patients requiring ventilatory support.
- Assembles, manipulates, and troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical percussors.
- Interprets diagnostic results for feasibility and reports results, to include blood or other body fluid analysis by blood gas analyzer and co-oximeter, pulmonary function screening, pulmonary mechanics studies, end-tidal C02, and pulse oximetry.
- Performs record keeping, billing and medical record documentation functions.
- Provides patient instruction in the use of Respiratory Care devices and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be credentialed as a certified or registered respiratory therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire. Must have an active license as a respiratory care practitioner in the State of Iowa upon hire. Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter. Prefer ACLS certification within one year of hire.

Where You Will Work:
Join our collaborative progressive care unit nursing team at Aurora Medical Center Grafton. Our progressive care unit is a 16-bed unit caring for our cardiothoracic surgery (CTS) patient population-lobe resections, esophagectomy, etc. Cardiac overflow patients, stroke, increase monitoring capabilities, cardiac drips, insulin drips, overflow patients needing higher acuity of care. This unit offers an excellent learning environment for both newly licensed and experienced RNs.
We’re Looking For:
Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday. Must safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks, including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds and assisting with 150-pound sliding transfers. Requires functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures, as well as the ability to operate equipment foot controls. Must be able to respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary. Working with the department manager, the RN Charge Nurse provides leadership and clinical expertise on their respective shift and department. They coordinate unit resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels based on the unique needs of patients on the unit, both clinically and financially. - Performs specimen collection in accordance with department protocols while meeting established turnaround time goals.
- Processes orders accurately and timely including specimen accessioning and delivery to testing departments, order transcription, add-on tests, specimen rejection, and reconciliation of pending reports.
- Performs waived testing with minimal errors within established time frames. Performs microbiology set ups per protocols. Escalates issues to appropriate leader.
- Correctly performs and documents quality control and ensures appropriate documentation of corrective action. Promptly and accurately submits performance improvement data including SOS reports. Successfully completes individual competency and completes all annual educational requirements.
- Orders, inventories and stocks supplies to ensure appropriate pare levels are maintained and emergency orders are minimized. Changes printer ribbons and labels as needed.
