Full-time 3rd shift hours Monday - Friday from 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
Pay Range:
$25.30 - $42.85MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures specimens are properly accessioned, labeled, and suitable for testing. Cuts quality tissue sections with proper thickness as determined by tissue type and places properly on glass slides.
- Embeds tissue into paraffin blocks. Maintains a filing system for paraffin tissue blocks, slides and wet tissue.
- Processes tissue using processors to ensure full preservation and infiltration by paraffin.
- Performs routine and special stains, immunohistochemistry, cover slipping, verification, and distribution of slides.
- Retrieves and prints computer logs. Manages daily workflow for recuts, special stains, immunohistochemistry, control slides, and send-outs according to established protocols.
- Performs and documents quality control. Evaluates quality control results and takes corrective action under the guidance of key operators, technical specialists or supervisor.
- Performs and documents cleaning, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of instruments and equipment.
- Assists pathologists during frozen section procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all accrediting agency standards.
- Provides assistance to pathologists, externs, and other team members.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- License/Registration/Certification Required: n/a
- Education Required: Advanced Training beyond High School in a science related field.
- Experience Required: No experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Knowledge of human anatomy.
- Must be detail oriented and have good organizational and communication skills.
- Must know how to safely handle sharp instruments.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Must be able to problem solve.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Sits and stands the majority of the workday as well as walks, lifts, squats, bends and twists throughout.
- Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs. Will occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, radioactive and infectious agents.
- Will be exposed to human blood, body fluids and tissue.
- Must wear appropriate lab coat, gloves, gowns and eye and face protection as needed.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

- Biggest needs are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 0800-1330 to assist with our prenatal lactation clinic
Pay Range:
$38.20 - $57.30Major Responsibilities:- Assesses patient's needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements intervention, and evaluates outcomes.
- Visits breastfeeding mothers while hospitalized and/or telephones post-discharge to assess additional learning needs and provide lactation support on an individual basis.
- Provides outpatient care and consultation for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties and/or in providing outpatient newborn follow-up visits.
- Develops, implements and manages outpatient services and/or phone support line to provide lactation support on an individual basis. This may include a breast pump rental and/or retail store.
- Assists with the development of, and supports the staff that, facilitate patient breastfeeding. Identifies staff learning needs and provides in-services related to breastfeeding.
- Provides overall leadership and direction of breastfeeding to hospital staff, health care professionals and the community utilizing current research.
- Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes. Participates in the teaching of breastfeeding classes and/or support groups. Reviews current breastfeeding education materials and updates annually.
- Serves as consultant for physicians and other healthcare providers concerning lactation as it relates to patient's health problems.
- Maintains proper statistics and/or documentation on all breastfeeding clients. Provides reports as necessary.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
- Lactation Consultant, International Board (IBCLC) certification issued by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) needs to be obtained within 1 year.
Education Required:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 2 years of experience in professional nursing in a labor and delivery setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, staff and physicians.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.

Essential Functions
- Phlebotomist I is responsible for accurately collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing while working in a professional medical environment. This position functions as part of a dynamic and engaging team with a workload that ranges from fast-paced hospital settings and high/low volume clinics. Caregivers in this role will gain valuable experience and knowledge to help prepare them for workplace and career advancement.
- The Phlebotomist I perform specimen collection using many different techniques such as venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collections. These caregivers collect specimens from patients of various acuities, such as Outpatient, Emergency Department, and Inpatient – including newborns, patients in intensive care, and all other areas of the hospital. They are at the forefront of patient care and adhere to and enforce the standards for laboratory compliance and safety regulations.
- Adherence to personal protective requirements in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, including but not limited to gowns, gloves, lab coats, face shields, and masks.

3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Banner Children's Hospital at Desert NICU is a 76- bed unit divided into our high acuity ICU patients and our lower acuity patients. Our ICU side is an open pod layout with six beds per pod. Our CCN (lower acuity) side are all private rooms allowing parents space to room in and learn how to care for their baby before going home. We have a diverse population of patients that include micropremies, neuro patients, cardiac anomalies, surgical patients, ECMO and whole-body cooling. We have a family centered care model with an interdisciplinary team approach. Our care includes 24-hour Neonatology coverage, development therapists, Nutritionists, PT/OT and SLP and lactation

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.
3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. - Interacts with patient/representative to gather, verify, and input patient demographic, insurance, and essential admission information accurately into a database ensuring that appropriate billing, reporting and analysis by facility, corporate, state and federal agencies can be performed.
- Registers for multiple service lines within a facility using appropriate patient service types; may register for all service lines within a facility.
- Comprehends and provides explanation of legal documents in accordance to regulatory requirements, which may include: Advance Directives, MSP, Surgical H & P, Consent and Conditions of Admission, HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, Important Message from Tricare, Important Message from Medicare, etc.
- Completes financial screening questions to properly identify potential funding sources.
- Uses appropriate tools and facility contracts to hold financial discussions with patients or representatives (e.g., collection of copay/deposit, review of insurance benefits and out of network/non-coverage issues, cost estimation, financial obligation, initiation of payment arrangements, availability of financial assistance, initiation of rescheduling of services).

At Houston Methodist, the Registered Nurse (RN) II position is a licensed staff nurse, an experienced clinician, functions at the Competent to Proficient stage of Benner's model of clinical practice. Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital opened in June 2017. Job Duties:
Phlebotomists are responsible for collection and procurement of blood and human specimens in the clinical and non clinical setting. This role is an important component of patient experience, and the individual is expected to collaborate with clinical and non clinical counterparts to provide a safe environment that promotes the best possible outcomes.
- Performs venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to the Clinical laboratory Standards Institute guidelines.
- Demonstrates competency in patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, accessioning, and processing.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills.
- Understands the criteria for specimen acceptability and rejection.
- Functions effectively in a team environment.
- Works under the leadership of Phlebotomist III, Preanaytical Specialist, Team Lead, Supervisor, or other Laboratory Leader and escalates issues accordingly.
- Possess critical thinking skills to adjust to changing work conditions.
- Carries out responsibilities in an independent and accountable manner in all assigned care areas.
- Required to follow supplemental safety protocols at any non-Geisinger facilities.
- Function as an autonomous end user of relevant Geisinger business applications and tools.

- Performs collection of specimens in the Acute, Post-acute, Clinic and Field Service areas as needed.

- Requires initial and annual competency via Learning Management System which includes an exam and direct observation checklist.

- Assists with continuous improvement objectives including root cause analyses and other investigative processes.

Position Details:
As a phlebotomist, you'll support Geisinger’s mission of providing exceptional patient care through innovative, efficient, and high-quality laboratory services. At Geisinger, our phlebotomists are the friendly faces that collect samples to be analyzed by our state-of-the-art labs. Supporting a varied patient population, you’ll be responsible for venipunctures/skin punctures on patients in our inpatient setting.
There are many other tasks our phlebotomists complete, such as troubleshooting physician orders, processing specimens for testing, as well as aiding our patients.
We have many different skill levels in our labs, from new to experienced phlebotomists, and all skill levels are well utilized. Geisinger employs phlebotomists in roles I, II, and III. We also have numerous staff members who pursue their ASCP certification and become trainers for our department!
Phlebotomist I, II and III qualifications will be considered at appropriate compensation. Salary commensurate with experience.
- Experience as a nursing assistant (NA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), medical assistant (MA), certified medical assistant (CMA) or similar will be considered!
- Military experience will be considered. US Army 68W Combat Medic, 18D, US Navy Hospital Corpsman, and related medical specialties.

SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the BCBA independently provides school-based functional behavioral analytic services (assessment, treatment, and consultation) for students attending the Bradley Schools. BCBAs also may provide supervision of graduate-level trainees.

BCBAs participate actively in the behavioral assessment of Bradley School students. This entails:
Keeping current and knowledgeable regarding the medical, developmental, and family histories, clinical diagnoses, and treatment protocols of assigned students.
Providing quality behavioral analytic services to all assigned students.
Developing individualized behavior plans for each assigned student in consultation with the treatment team
Developing and implementing skills acquisition and social skills programs for assigned students in consultation with the treatment team
Developing and implementing positive behavior support plans and strategies in consultation with the treatment team
Providing leadership and role modeling to multidisciplinary staff in maintaining a standard of high quality care for all students within the school program.
BCBAs may serve as treatment team leaders for Bradley School classrooms. This entails:
Reviewing all available student records prior to admission for students on assigned teams and sharing relevant information with the appropriate team members.
Overseeing and coordinating plans for the assessment, treatment, and education of all students in assigned classrooms.
Facilitating cooperative working relationships among team members.
Leading weekly team meetings, as well as formal meetings that include parents, school district personnel, or other community professionals (e.g., IEP/PPT meetings, behavioral reviews, transition planning meetings) for all students in assigned classrooms.
Producing high-quality team reports, letters, or other required documentation in a timely manner.
Communicating effectively with special education directors, school representatives, and other community contacts/providers.
Consulting with the school nurse, psychiatrist, and outside medical providers regarding medical and/or psychiatric issues, as needed.
Working effectively with BS psychologists to clarify psychological assessment needs, interpretation of psychological assessment data, and psychological assessment recommendations for students on assigned teams.
Maintaining proactive, effective communication with the Clinical Director regarding clinical and administrative issues.
Using effective leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills to maintain effective functioning of assigned teams.
Maintaining a balance of clinical and systemic perspectives in leading assigned teams
BCBAs deliver high-quality services for students admitted to the school program or referred for outpatient consultation. This entails:
Providing case management, as assigned.
Providing individualized behavioral treatment, as assigned.
Providing consultation regarding functional behavioral assessments and interventions, as assigned.
Providing outpatient consultation, as assigned.
Completing all required reports and records in a professional and timely manner, as assigned.
Providing in-service education opportunities for school staff, as well as in the community, as requested.
BCBAs may provide supervision of graduate-level trainees enrolled in BCBA programs, as assigned. This entails:
Providing reliable, high-quality supervision of trainees, as assigned and appropriate.
Participating in teaching of trainees, as assigned.
BCBAs adhere to all school policies, procedures, and practices. This entails:
Attending and/or completing in-service programs, as assigned.
Maintaining crisis de-escalation and intervention certification.
Completing required continuing education to maintain BCBA board certification.
Maintaining BCBA license.
Consistently following all school policies and procedures.
Consistently complying with infection control, quality improvement, risk management, and safety standards.
Being punctual, reliable, and judicious in using sick time and school time off (STO), as per school policy.
Demonstrating knowledge of the school organizational chart and consistently communicating issues and concerns through that structure.
Participating in training seminars, as requested.
Participating in committees, as requested.
Performing other related duties, as required, assigned, or directed.
BCBAs provide effective leadership, as well as guidance and support, to their assigned teams, as needed or requested. This entails:
Supporting BS and program-specific initiatives, modeling flexibility and a positive attitude regarding program changes and/or initiatives.
Presenting any classroom equipment/supply/staffing needs or concerns to site management.
Coordinating any student/staff issues/needs with appropriate school management in order to problem solve and resolve concerns or problems effectively and in a timely manner.
Effectively leading weekly treatment team meetings and other school meetings, as described above.
Maintaining excellent relationships with all systems involved in a student’s care.
Providing community leadership in the area of understanding and treating severe psychiatric and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents.
Performing other leadership duties, as assigned.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Requires a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from an accredited school, as well as board certification as a BCBA by the Behavior Analytic Certification Board. Licensure by the RI Department of Health as a Licensed Behavior Analyst also is a RI requirement. Experience in a clinical and/or school setting is highly preferred. Experience working with students with autism is preferred.
Requires demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to school-aged youth, with consideration of developmental processes, as well as cultural, familial, and individual factors that may influence educational, emotional, and behavioral functioning and progress.
EXPERIENCE:
One to two years of specialized clinical experience with children and adolescents preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is within a school classroom and/or office environment. Employees in this position work in a special education setting under stressful conditions associated with care of students with severe emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental challenges (which may include aggressive and/or self-injurious behaviors). Employees are expected to utilize de-escalation techniques taught in the Safety Care training to minimize the need for physical intervention. They must have the ability to remain calm during a crisis situation, as evidenced by the ability to make quick rational decisions and prioritize immediate care needs to maintain a therapeutic environment and ensure safety. Employees in this position must also be able to participate in the physical management of students, which can include, but is not limited to, awareness and demonstration of safe body positioning at all times, awareness and coordination to block and deflect possible aggression, and the ability to physically hold struggling individuals, using approved methods only, to maintain safety for extended periods of time. Specifically, such employees must be able to: lift up to fifty pounds; reach with their hands and arms; grasp and hold with their hands; bend/squat/kneel without limitation; and physically escort students who may become combative for short distances. Position requires occasional running for short distances and frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
