Job Description:
The Mental Health Tech (MHT) participates in the delivery of patient care to the psychiatric patient in crisis, under the supervision of an RN. The MHT will assist in providing, monitoring, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Other responsibilities include specimen collection, activities of daily living, behavioral management, crisis intervention, and implementation of patient treatment in accordance with physician orders, RN directives, hospital and unit specific policies and procedures, and defined standards of patient care and clinical practice. The MHT provides clinical patient care support in a caring, safe, and efficient manner, under the direction of an RN. In collaboration with patients and families (as defined by the patient) the MHT is responsible for the care of the patient.
Essential Functions:
- Monitors and maintains the therapeutic environment
- Participates in identification, management, and stabilization of crisis situations
- Transports patients and remains with them for the duration of any tests performed Accompanies patients, and waits with them when appropriate, to their discharge transportation (personal vehicle, cab, etc.)
- Assists with physical examination, safety and contraband searches, transferring, and discharging patients and assists in the implementation and documentation of seclusion and restraint usage
- Performs vital signs and oxygen saturation monitoring, phlebotomy and point-of-care testing and documents, as needed
- Assists other members of the nursing care team and/or other disciplines
- Performs delegated and ancillary basic nursing skills, including activities of daily living, monitoring of patient condition, body mechanics, providing nutritional support and other activities as appropriate to clinical service, in accordance with hospital standards, nursing standards of care, and policies and procedures
- Performs functional assignments per unit standards of care, including such activities as patient admission and discharge procedures, unit environmental organizational tasks, and others as appropriate to service
- Cross-trains and provides staffing support to the alternate psychiatric units, as needed
Other Functions:
- Performs clerical duties
- Demonstrates appropriate emergency and patient safety procedures, including management of safety devices and equipment to maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards
- Participates in department-based activities and initiatives to improve and ensure a safe environment
- Participates in training, development and continuing education activities to improve role functioning
- Participates in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assists in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including the code of conduct
- Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
Additional Job Description:
Education:
- High School diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
- College Course work in social and health sciences (preferred)
Experience:
- One (1) year of inpatient or emergency psychiatry or related experience (preferred)
- Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program (preferred)
- Nursing students who have completed Fundamental of Nursing School (preferred)
Licensure:
- Transport MHTs must maintain a valid driver’s license (required for Transport roles)
Certification:
- CPR accredited by the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers (required)
- Must obtain and maintain certification through completion of an organizationally endorsed crisis intervention training program as determined by the facility (required)

$38.20 - $57.30The Kidney Dialysis Team provides specialized care for adult inpatients with acute/chronic renal failure. The goal of the dialysis team is to provide the highest quality of care to patients in need of dialysis, centered on evidence-based practice guidelines. Nursing care follows the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Conditions for Coverage for End Stage Renal Disease patients. Clinical care is documented in the patient’s electronic medical record.
Major Responsibilities:
- Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care.
- Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes.
- Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
- Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
- May administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.
- Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
- Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications.

- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
Certification / Registration / License
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services
Note: Licensed nurses practicing via telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities are required to be licensed or hold the privilege to practice in the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located. Licensed nurses are responsible and accountable for knowing, understanding, and practicing in compliance with the laws, rules, regulations, and standards of practice of the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located.
Experience
Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

$38.20 - $57.30Join our 32-bed medical surgical unit at Atrium Health Cleveland. We care for a plethora of medical and surgical diagnoses and provide all the peritoneal dialysis for our facility. The unit is the stroke accredited and age friendly unit for the facility.
We collaborate with providers across the spectrum of disciplines (hospitalists, neurology, nephrology, pulmonology, cardiologists, intensivists, surgeons, orthopedics, and wound care) to ensure best practice and access in providing high quality, compassionate care. We partner with the Virtual Nursing Program, who assist in providing the most technologically advanced care to our patients.

Job Description:
The Surgical Services Support Technician is responsible for safely transporting patients to and from the operating room (OR) or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role includes organizing and restocking equipment, cleaning surgical suites, assisting with room turnover, maintaining sterile technique, supporting OR and anesthesia caregiver requests, and transporting specimens and blood following safe verification policies.
The Surgical Services Support Technician is expected to be able to assist with prompt case turnovers prioritizing a clean and organized OR, SDS, PACU, or patient environment. Essential duties include working closely with the surgical team and adapting to dynamic situations. The technician may also need to respond to code situations and assist as required. Promoting the health organization’s mission, vision, and values is also a key expectation.
Expanded duties may include scrubbing into procedures and assisting by holding extremities, retractors, cameras, suction, or organs. Caregivers in this role are trained in Basic Aseptic Technique.
Shift Details
Full-time, 40 hours/week. Shift is scheduled from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Essential Functions
- Transports patients safely to and from the OR holding area, PACU or patient rooms, utilizing proper patient handling techniques, and assists with lifting positioning, and transferring patients as needed.
- Consults with the anesthesiologist and registered nurse (RN) to determine equipment, setup, and supply needs prior to procedures. In time, anticipates procedural requirements and proactively prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies.
- Processes post-surgical case carts by safely discarding sharps, emptying suction canisters, redistributing unused supplies, and sending carts to the Sterile Processing Department for reprocessing.
- Sets up fluid warmers, invasive lines, and sterile supplies for anesthesia procedures, when assigned.
- Ensures timely turnover of operating rooms by cleaning all surfaces, removing trash and soiled linen, mopping beneath the OR bed, and preparing the room thoroughly for the next surgical case.
- Transports blood products and specimens to and from the blood bank, OR, SDS, PACU, and laboratory/pathology departments, ensuring strict adherence to all verification and safety protocols.
- When assigned, stocks supplies such as masks and surgical attire in the OR, as well as dietary and storeroom supplies in SDS and PACU, or other supplies as directed by the facility.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the facility, which may include verifying and logging warmer temperatures, checking eyewash stations, maintaining the utility room, and other support tasks as needed.
- Maintains proper traffic patterns and adheres to sanitation protocols for surgical and anesthesia instruments and equipment.
- Expanded duties may include completing training in Basic Aseptic Technique, learning to scrub, gown, and glove independently, and attentively supporting the surgeon as directed, in accordance with the scope of practice for support personnel.

This job greets patients and guest in a courteous manner whether via telephone contact or in person; initiates scheduling an appointment or completing the check-in process/admission for patients; obtains and verifies accurate identification and demographical data for the patient’s permanent medical record which assist in accurate reimbursement while recognizing the necessity of maintaining the confidentiality of all patient information. Responsible for point-of-service collections, face-to-face patient interactions related to completing the patient registration and admission process; responsible for the verification of insurance via electronic verification, telephone, or web application; improves patient satisfaction through consistently representing the company professionally and cross trained to support multiple functions across all patient and payer types.SHIFT: 6am-8:00pm

Work Experience

Job Duties
- Provide excellent customer service to all patients, guests, and family members.
- Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
- Ensures all required forms are completed and other paperwork/documents are gathered and accurate.
- Efficiently and accurately gathers and inputs patient/guarantor demographic and financial information; explains insurance benefits and collects co-pays, deductibles and self-pay portions due.
- Performs financial analysis of each case and informs patient of financial responsibility
- Balances Cash drawer daily, prepares deposit slips and follow closing cash drawer process at the end of each shift.

Assumes proficiency in image registration with various image data sets to include CT, MRI and PET.
- Creates and transfers reference images and localization markers for portal verification and treatment delivery to include DRRs, CBCTs and other IGRT methods, as specified. Performs calculations for the accurate delivery of the prescribed dose, document all pertinent information in the patient record, and verify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations by an approved method.
- Performs, or assists in simulations and tumor localization using specified imaging devices including, but not limited to CT, MRI, and PET. Perform, or assists in the planning and implementation of custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devices.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides assistance and technical support to the Medical Physicist, in radiation safety and protection, qualitative machine calibrations, quality assurance of treatment plans and radiation oncology equipment.
- Operates and performs quality assurance, under the direction of the Medical Physicist, on the treatment planning computer(s).
- Follows principles of radiation protection for patient, self and others. Follows safety standards and conducts all radiation therapy procedures accordingly. Job Essentials:

- Referral Management: Screen, Monitors pending and prioritized referrals. Maintains a record of the average daily caseload and workload.
- Patient Consultation: Promptly contacts new patients by phone to introduce them to the program, obtain verbal consent to participate, and schedules the initial assessment/evaluation.
- Interventions: Responsible for patient follow-up calls, as assigned by the (care team, to re-enforce education, self-management, and other care planning actions needed. Collaborates, educates, communicates, and networks with healthcare providers across the continuum to ensure the patient’s care planning needs are met.
- Intervention: Advocates on behalf of the patient, communicating and collaborating with healthcare providers, payers, physicians, and community-based services, where appropriate, to assist in establish an appropriate and integrated care plan for each patient. Promotes mental health integration by collaboration with mental health/behavioral health providers.
- Responsible for designated transition management duties to ensure an effective transition of care from one healthcare setting to another. Actively participates in system and regional process improvement initiatives to improve transitions of care.
- Establishes and maintains current community-based services and provider resource lists.
- Promptly and accurately performs duties, as assigned, to facilitate effective and efficient day-to-day operations and communication. Promptly escalates concerns to appropriate chain of command.
- Effectively and efficiently lead interdisciplinary care conferences and huddles, using collaborative practice models that promote interdisciplinary care planning and teamwork.
- Clerical/Support: Completes timely and accurate documentation in the medical record using knowledge of documentation standards for the department to facilitate communication with team members. Documentation is done in compliance with all clinical guidelines and billing/reimbursement standards. Organizes and prioritizes daily work by assessing new, current, and discharging patient needs in area(s) of responsibility.

- Clinical Support: Prioritizes (triage) patient needs identified through phone, electronic, in accordance with established guidelines, standing orders, and protocols. Following provider instructions, demonstrates accurate, timely, and efficient follow through with pharmacy refills, scheduling out of clinic procedures, obtaining, reporting, and tracking of lab results, leaving phone messages, and distributing faxes.
- Maintains inventory of supplies. Orders and restocks as needed to ensure availability for patient care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of experience in patient care, care management, transition/discharge planning, medical assistance, healthcare coaching, or patient care coordination - and - Certification, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field.

- Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and promptly communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family to RN. Documents appropriately. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
- Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of the patient under direction of RN to include diet review, tray set up/removal, proper positioning and diet selection. Performs tasks related to maintaining skin integrity to include proper repositioning and skin care. Ensures special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained such as TED hose and sequential compression devices.
- Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated using approved process for accurate specimen labeling and identification. Maintains competency as required. Under direction of RN and as determined by site/unit requirements, may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care and perform bladder scans.
- Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention by demonstrating hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, proper disposal of contaminated materials and utilizing proper attire when in direct contact with patients in isolation.
- Coordinates tests and treatments with and between various departments for patients on nursing units. Maintains a working knowledge of functions and services offered by all diagnostic and treatment departments to facilitate the scheduling of tests and treatments. Maintains working knowledge of EHR system and other computer systems for ordering patient and unit supplies and equipment. Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedures through the system.
- Facilitates communications required to support patient care, including the multiple-line telephone, unit/site paging and the hospital information system. Screens incoming telephone calls. Monitors department office equipment and troubleshoots minor problems. Arranges repair of major malfunctions.
- Compiles necessary chart forms for admissions, transfers, discharges and expirations. Obtains appropriate copies of medical records for transfers to nursing homes and other health care facilities. Verifies medical records contain complete and accurate patient demographic information, patient identification and registration in the medical record, including appropriate level of care.
- Establishes and maintains positive customer relations and contributes to a harmonious work environment. Quickly and courteously acknowledges requests, responds to call lights, demonstrates proper phone etiquette and fosters communication between the health care team.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Works under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner and performs various general respiratory care duties to include respiratory care treatments, oxygen administration, suctioning, and arterial blood gas puncture and analysis. Physical Requirements
Work requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Education, Experience and Certifications

Registered with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as an RCA required. Completed competency evaluations for each of the duties of the job required. BLS required per policy guidelines.
