As a Radiology Tech at MercyOne, you will:
- Assist physicians or radiologists in specialized procedures
- Provide patient, family, and nursing units education on diagnostic testing
- Utilize critical thinking in daily and emergent assessment of proper exam protocol
- Examines any human body part for use in the diagnosis of medical problems
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy and respect to customers and co-workers
- Observe safety precautions when handling patients, for producing clear radiographs in order to facilitate treatment
- Assess each patient for proper exam prep (if applicable) and appropriateness of each exam ordered
- Follow exam protocols that have been set in place for the Radiology Department
Schedule:

General Requirements:
- Active American Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- Active Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice
- Previous experience preferred
- Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire
- Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health

- Graduate of a 2-year accredited Radiology program

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

What will you do?:
Procedural Support: Provides competent, proficient, technical support during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, implementing procedural standards and protocols.
Patient Centered Care: Provides patient care specific to procedural requirements and patient needs (under the supervision of physicians and Cath Lab nursing personnel) within established departmental policies for scope of practice.
Patient/Family Member Education: Provides support and education to patients, families, and other healthcare team members.

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care. Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
- Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy - butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
- Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.
- Participates in patient centered initiatives, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care. Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
- Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy - butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
- Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.
- Participates in patient centered initiatives, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Job Profile Summary

Essential Functions
- Assists with all phases of pharmacy services while under the supervision of a pharmacist as required by state of practice and job duties.
- Answers phones and provides excellent customer service as appropriate to practice site.
- Assists the pharmacist in collecting clinical and other patient information and maintaining appropriate records as required by regulation and policy.
- Utilizes pharmacy technology effectively to prepare medication orders for dispensing, performs calculations as necessary, and compounds medications for accurate compounding as appropriate to practice site, in accordance with state law, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Attains appropriate supervision and accuracy checks by the pharmacist(s) and clearly understands when a pharmacist must verify tasks and activities.

The RN Transition and Triage Care Manager offers comprehensive, time-limited services to patients and their families, ensuring continuity of care as they move across healthcare settings and clinicians. This role aims to prevent health complications, connect patients to resources, and guide them to the appropriate level of care. Utilizing clinical expertise, technology, and evidence-based practices, the manager assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care through telephone or digital communication methods. Effective collaboration with patients, families, healthcare providers, payers, community-based providers, and other involved parties is essential to deliver efficient, effective, and patient-centered care management services. The manager operates in various settings, including triage, transitions of care, clinics, communities, and post-acute care environments.
Essential Functions
- Patient Identification and Assessment: Identifies patients for proactive interventions using specific screening criteria, medical record review, payor models, medical risk scores, or referrals. Assesses patients' medical, functional, and social conditions per department policy/guidelines to develop individualized care plans, care recommendations, or referrals as appropriate.
- Care Plan Management: Coordinates with internal and external services for social determinants of health (SDoH) needs and care in the community. Evaluates the effectiveness of the patient’s care plan and outcomes. Modifies the plan of care or specific interventions, as appropriate.
- Acute Symptom Triage: Conducts remote nursing assessments: Utilizes critical thinking skills to assess patient symptoms, medical history, and concerns, applying evidence-based protocols to determine appropriate care recommendations.
- Patient Support: Supports patient self-management and behavior change through health coaching, care navigation, care coordination, and education of identified patient/caregiver/family to identify and address barriers to optimal health outcomes.
- Education and Advocacy: Educates healthcare team members about transitions and triage processes, appropriate referrals, and advocate for patient rights. Educates patients about their medical/behavioral health conditions and self-management.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare team members on the patient’s behalf to ensure patient receives quality and timely care and resolve any delays or issues. Participates in rounds or case conferences when necessary. Utilizes team-based care approach referring and consulting with social work, nutrition, pharmacy, rehabilitation, behavioral health, etc. resources as appropriate.
- Relationship Building: Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with hospital care management, post-acute providers, and other care managers to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care. Avoids duplicative care management services/programs.
- Process Improvement: Actively participates in system and regional initiatives to improve transitions of care and avoid duplicative services.
- Data Analysis: Conducts root cause analysis of extended post-acute stays, inappropriate utilization, readmissions, and track key data elements or metrics. Identifies, analyzes, and monitors industry, regulatory, technology, and market-based trends that impact ambulatory and post-acute services.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice.

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.
2. Performs the setup, acquisition and processing of prescribed radiographic procedures in accordance with established departmental/facility policies and procedures. Educates patients/families regarding the procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
3. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients’ blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKG’s. Acts as chaperone as needed. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.
4. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.
5. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation in accordance with established departmental/facility policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.
6. Maintains a clean, functional environment, including exam rooms and storage areas. Cleans and disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions, following sterilization procedures, and following manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs. Evaluates equipment quality control measurements in accordance with established departmental/facility policies and procedures. Trouble-shoots equipment problems and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
7. Orders supplies and stocks patient care areas. Monitors inventory including medication/injectables and immunizations (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls). This position will complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.
8. Ensures the efficient operation and workflow of the department by coordinating patient workflow throughout the day. Ensures exam rooms are stocked, performing room set-up, establishing patient transport, and schedule coordination with multi-disciplinary team members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Requires certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited school of Radiology program. Requires national certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure by the state regulatory agency if applicable. BLS certification required. Requires successful completion of the Banner Health MA competency assessment. All direct patient care personnel are required to demonstrate competent performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) techniques for adults, children and infants according to the standards of a nationally recognized, standardized, credentialed healthcare provider course every other year.
Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion. Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program. Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Estimated Pay Range:
$26.40 - $44.00 / hour
